Repeal "Commend Tinfect”
Category: Repeal | Target: SC#297
Proposed by: Emodea, Co-authored by: Varanius, Grea Kriopia | Onsite Topic
Replacement: None

Security Council Resolution #297 “Condemn Tinfect” shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The Security Council,

Acknowledging that this hallowed assembly declared Tinfect to be a nation of multiversal importance through the passing of SCR#297 “Condemn Tinfect”, where the misdeeds of its totalitarian Imperial Government were exposed for the international community to abhor,

Disappointed that not only does SCR#297 not live up to the high standards the Security Council has come to expect from its talented authors, but also fails to dissuade the targeted regime from continuing on with their transgressions,

Criticizing the “Noting” clause, where the Imperial Government is introduced as a “notoriously fascist regime” and treated accordingly throughout most of the resolution’s text. However, later in the “Concluding” and “Determined” clauses, Tinfect is claimed to have maintained “a relatively positive” and “utopian” image all along, contradicting prior clauses and painting a paradoxical picture of the regime’s reputation to readers,

Curious about the “Further noting” clause, which lists a multitude of resolutions Tinfect has penned for the General Assembly to benefit the interregional community at large. While cognizant of the fact that this serves as nothing more than a stepping stone to build the following clause, it still frames the nation as an accomplished contributor to this council’s sister, something antithetical to a condemnation’s spirit and intent,

Immediately validated on this matter by the “Dismayed” clause, which begins by recognizing Tinfect as a “prolific wanderer of the halls of the General Assembly”,

Continuing to rebuke the “Dismayed” clause for its vague and misleading implication that Tinfect has engaged in noncompliance with General Assembly law, as the phrase “remains in a near-constant state of disdain” does not constitute, nor necessarily imply, actual defiance or refusal to comply with enacted resolutions. A nation may express disapproval or ideological opposition to specific General Assembly legislation while still upholding and enforcing its provisions in practice,

Lamenting the horrifying lack of details that plagues SCR#297 throughout the entirety of its text, with notable examples being:

  • The “Particularly appalled” clause, which provides no further information on the “gruesome genocides within Imperial history” except the names, leaving most readers (with little to no familiarity with Tinfect) unable to evaluate the veracity of these massacres,
  • The “Disturbed” clause, which fails to show how the Imperial economy and industry benefited from the aforementioned genocides,
  • The “Further noting” clause, which does not give any examples of the nations affected, or prove how these states were “far less technologically advanced” than the Imperium,
  • The “Concerned” clause, which again provides no greater context for the “seemingly arbitrary borders” that the Imperium has set, with the ambiguous wording further confusing the readers on whether these borders were eventually agreed upon by its neighbors, and,
  • The “Further concerned” clause, which remains unsuccessful in conveying the threat the Imperial military poses due to its inexact description of their size and capabilities,

Observing that even within the context of the period in which SCR#297 was authored, the resolution lacks the argumentative strength and level of detail seen in its contemporaries, such as SCR#284 “Commend Common Territories” and SCR#309 “Commend Vilita and Turori”, making it difficult—if not outright impossible—to defend its weaker drafting as standard for that era,

Tiringly revealing that Tinfect, rather than seeing SCR#297 as a brand of shame and humiliation, has come to see it as a badge of honor, shamelessly parading the condemnation around among their compatriots,

Noting that while SCR#297 was originally meant to deter the Imperium from committing further heinous acts, it has failed spectacularly in its intended purpose. Tinfect, emboldened by their newfound infamy, has gone on to lead their region, The Communist Bloc, to ravage native communities and attempt to disrupt legitimate regimes of other regions as revenge for standing up against its aggression,

Concluding that while enacted with benevolent intentions, SCR#297 has not only failed spectacularly in its primary goal of rebuking Tinfect, but also has failed to conform with the quality set as standard by its precursors,

Hereby repeals SCR#297 “Condemn Tinfect”.
