Mid-Term Address: It’s All About YOU​

Each morning since 12 May, I have been humbled by the honor and a privilege of serving as your Delegate - the Delegate of the largest region in NationStates, with a legendary history and a vibrant democracy.

This mid-term address is structured differently from the past in that I invite you to peruse further details regarding individual ministries from addresses from members of the Cabinet, which in this address is in alphabetical order. Instead, I will only offer highlights and personal thoughts from my tenure as Delegate.

Highlights of the Last 2 Months (and a bit)

• When I ran for Delegate, I made 22 specific campaign promises. Our cabinet has made tremendous progress - I feel that at least seven promises have been met (or have been met so far), and another 14 are in progress.
• Personally, I am particularly proud of the achievements in Culture, particularly in events (Prydania) and Dreadton’s kind assistance in installing more games, the NPA’s takeover of CCD, and our strong efforts in stepping up recruitment.

Communications

• I invite you to peruse @Halsoni 's opening address.
• We are back to a weekly publication of The Northern Notes, and The North Star is progressing despite staffing problems.
• I want to particularly thank @Kaschovia and Picairn for their hard work in TNS, even though both have other roles in the Executive Council.

Culture

• I invite you to peruse @Prydania ’s opening address.
• Our inaugural Pride Prom, held jointly with our ally The Wellspring, was a resounding success with 58 attendees with a great variety of events and lots of fun.
• We are back to daily events, currently a mix of polls, minipolls, music, themes, and in conjunction with regular events such as Democracy Day.
• @Dreadton has very kindly added to TNP Games the following games: Truth or Dare, BallsDex, Virtual Fisher, Taco Shack, GariticBot and Freestuff Bot.
• I have been developing a Japanese trivia game to plug into our trivia engine, and there’s now a Games Testing discord for anyone who wants to try new games.

Defence

• I invite you to peruse @Picairn ’s mid-term address.
• The NPA brought home to TNP the trophy of the Confederation of Corrupt Dictators. CCD was once infamous for fascism and its attempted coup of TNP - we bid good riddance to the old CCD.
• I am very comfortable with the plans for future operations.

Foreign Affairs

• I invite you to peruse both Comfed’s and @Chipoli 's opening addresses.
• Our sanctions remain highly effective. We are also working on building closer relations with our partners - especially those that focus on RP or other areas.

Home Affairs, Gameside Advocates and Recruitment

• I invite you to peruse @Skaraborg 's mid-term address.
• A particular highlight is the strenuous efforts of Petronellania in manual recruitment.
• We have increased TNP’s share of WA voters - from 6.54% to 6.77%, even though summer is a traditional low season, thus far delivering on the KPI that I set for myself when I ran for Delegate in May.

Radio

• I invite you to peruse @Koopa103 's opening address.
• Radio became a stand-alone Ministry again during this term to allow for deputies and staff to be appointed.
• We have had two episodes of radio programming released, with nine taped and ready to go soon: interviews with The Ice States (of Greater Dienstad), Weatherwind (of FNR) and our own Attempted Socialism. We also have a live show this Friday (2 August, 10pm UTC+1).

TNP University (TNPU)

• We restarted TNPU in a less formal setting after a four-year absence, with a (thus far) limited set of events (Manumission Day, Democracy Day).
• We will soon upload data on the 3rd World Assembly Symposium data to TNPU, so that it can be searchable in a text format.
• We are also scouring the archives of senior TNP leaders for content not publicly available. We are also consulting on ways to expand our efforts to document the 20+ years of our great region.

World Assembly Affairs

• I invite you to peruse @Comfed 's opening address.
• Our undisputed leadership in the World Assembly continues. With Comfed’s return to the Cabinet and to this Ministry, I am confident that the Ministry’s heavy administrative duties will be amply covered.
• On the plus side, we continue to win all votes where our Foreign Affairs policies apply. In the General Assembly, seven out of the 15 resolutions passed in my term of office so far were from TNP, albeit all from me.
• On the minus side, in the Security Council, supporting the LoCN liberation before knowing that the target was an anti-LGBTQIA+ region was a mistake that I own, regardless of how badly I was misinformed.
• There is one campaign promise contingent on cooperation with WALL (4th WA Symposium) which is pending.

Cards Guild

• Cards has fully returned to NationStates. We unfortunately had to part ways with @Fauzjhia and will take the opportunity to examine the future of cards.
• I consider our extensive cards collections to be a valuable resource owned by all of TNP and will consult widely on plans for future use.

Final words: It’s all about YOU

For various reasons, changes to the Cabinet were needed. We bid farewells to @Nutmeg The Squirrel , @AraFuttio , and @Bobberino , and welcomed (back) Prydania, Ruben and Comfed to the team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my Ministers for their support. In addition, I would like to thank @Sil Dorsett and @Marcus Antonius for their efforts (they know why). This isn’t, and never will be, a one-person effort, and every Minister, DM, and staff deserve gratitude from myself and the entire TNP.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank you. Yes, you. Thank you for putting your trust and faith in me as your Delegate. The Cabinet and I still toil for you, whether you voted for me or not.

On a personal note, this address came out about two weeks later than usual, partly because I had last minute staff changes to make. The work ethics and resilience of the team never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to continuously improving and earning your trust each and every day.
