Statement on Military Activity in Stargate

At this morning’s major update, as raiders from The Black Hawks and Lone Wolves United attempted to throw off defenders from their planned raid of Japan, a group entered the region of Stargate. They were not cross-endorsed and so the risk of a raider delegate being installed was minimal. In their pursuit of the raiders, defenders from LibCord entered the region and, as is their standard operating procedure, were cross-endorsed and so inadvertently displaced Casl, the native delegate of Stargate.

This use of Stargate, a treatied ally of The North Pacific for 9 and a half years, as a venue for military gameplay is entirely unacceptable and should not have occurred. The displacement of the native delegate would not have occurred had raiders not picked this particular thorn out of the bush - they could’ve and should’ve chosen other regions. We do not accept blame being placed on defenders for moving to prevent what they thought was a raid, nor do we accept that it was appropriate to use Stargate as a decoy to distract from a raid.

At minor update the North Pacific Army deployed to Stargate, as did defenders both independently and after discussions between themselves and The North Pacific. With 47 endorsements, Casl was restored to the delegacy and we thank the South Pacific Special Forces, The Grey Wardens, the Rejected Realms Army, the League Defence Force and all other forces involved in doing so.

Actions have consequences, and actions whereby a treatied partner of The North Pacific is targeted or exploited or disrupted especially so. As such, I am today announcing the following measures are to take place, with others under active consideration:
  • Military cooperation between The North Pacific and The Black Hawks, and The North Pacific and Lone Wolves United, is to cease for the foreseeable future.
  • The forum embassies of The Black Hawks and Lone Wolves United will be closed, as will the in-game embassy of Lone Wolves United.
  • The North Pacific Army will refocus its activity to work more closely with our other military partners, and will actively pursue opportunities to engage in a wider range of military gameplay going forward.
It is unfortunate that, for now at least, our long working relationship with The Black Hawks has come to an end, but if just one thing is learnt from this, let it be this: The North Pacific will not passively stand by whilst liberties are taken with our partners, allies and friends.

I have mixed feelings concerning this, but nevertheless I stand by this decision.
