Security Council Declassification Tracker

In the interests of transparency and accountability, and to keep the public better informed as to the status of the ongoing Security Council declassification project, this thread will record all private SC records as they are released under Section 5.5 of the Legal Code. These records can be found in this subforum. This thread will also provide an up-to-date explanation of each type of redaction you may see in these records, as follows:
  1. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.1 RL information]
    1. What it's for: "Real-life information about any NationStates player from which there is a risk of inferring that player's real-life identity and which has not willingly been disclosed to the public, including, but not limited to, an individual's name, IP address, physical address or location, phone number, place of employment or education, appearance, social media accounts, and other knowledge about a player, unless the player in question provides explicit consent for this information not to be considered private."
    2. How it's justified: see above.
    3. An example: "Hi guys, I'll be your Delegate for the next 4 months. My nation's name is Fakelandia2, but you can call me John. I personally don't find Discord all that convenient for communicating, so please feel free to send me a text at (123) 456-7890 or message me on Facebook (John Smith). Unfortunately, I might not be all that active over the next few weeks, since I just changed jobs and will be working at Exxon HQ in Irving, Texas for the foreseeable future. It's going to be a bit of a commute, since I currently live at 12345 Fake Street over in Bluemound."
  2. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.2 RL information]
    1. What it's for: "Real-life information about any NationStates player for which there exists a reasonable real-life expectation of privacy or discretion, including, but not limited to, health status, both mental and physical; financial status; personal tragedies; changes in personal status such as marriage, divorce, pregnancy, birth, or death; and other similar information, unless the player in question provides explicit consent for this information not to be considered private."
    2. How it's justified: see above.
    3. An example: "Hi guys, sorry to break it to you, but my grandmother just passed away two days ago, so I'll be taking a leave of absence as we plan for her funeral."
  3. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.2 private information]
    1. What it's for: Personal information that skirts the line between 5.5.27.1 and 5.5.27.2, or that skirts the line between RL and non-RL.
    2. How it's justified: See (1) and (2). This adds a bit more nuance to RL-based redactions.
    3. An example: "I go to school in New Haven, Connecticut, and Fakelandia2 threatened to make that public against my wishes on numerous occasions in addition to actually doxing me once."
  4. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.3 diplomatic interest] / [REDACTED - 5.5.27.3 military interest] / [REDACTED - 5.5.27.3 regional interest] / [REDACTED - 5.5.27.3 security risk]
    1. What it's for: "Information that, upon being made public, would jeopardize any ongoing military or intelligence operations; or jeopardize the security of units and agents participating in them, or be harmful to the diplomatic interests, military interests, or security of The North Pacific." This includes privileged communications for which consent was not given to be reproduced publicly, information harmful to the aforementioned interests of TNP, and information which could jeopardize regional security if publicly released.
    2. How it's justified: See above.
    3. An example: "TFP Delegate Fakelandia2 just sent me this extremely concerning TG which the SC needs to see: [telegram content]."
  5. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.4 SC operations]
    1. What it's for: "Information that, upon being made public, would jeopardize Security Council operations in response to threats and attempted coups." This includes internal processes to handle coup threats, methods for identifying threats, and other information which would give potential threats an advantage in attempting to destabilize the region.
    2. How it's justified: See above.
    3. An example: "Given the results of [internal methodology], I have no choice but to believe that Fakelandia2 poses an extreme threat to regional security. I recommend [internal plan of action]. Otherwise, we could have [consequences] on our hands."
  6. [REDACTED - 5.5.27.5 unable to consent]
    1. What it's for: "Comments made by previous members of the Security Council who are not able to consent to their comments being made public." There's been some confusion regarding this in the past, so here's how it works: the VD contacts former SCers through any available channels. If said former SCers are not reachable (i.e., unable to consent), their comments are redacted. Former SCers can't just order all their comments to be redacted because they said so!
    2. How it's justified: See above.
    3. An example: Do you really need one?
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this declassification effort, please feel free to either post in this thread or contact the Vice Delegate directly. If you wish to request that specific records be released, please post in this thread. When this declassification project has concluded, this thread will be locked and moved to the appropriate archive. The information contained in the spoiler above will be rolled into the aforementioned FOIA thread.

23 additional threads have been moved to the redacted archive:

A total of 242 private SC threads have been released thus far (227 this term and 15 last term).

This marks the end of the current private SC archive. I'll need to move the remainder of the eligible threads to the archive before declassification can continue, which shouldn't take long.

Thank you to @Former English Colony for moving old original threads from the war room to the private archive! 7 more threads have been released:

A total of 249 private SC threads have been released thus far (234 this term and 15 last term). As always, please contact the Vice Delegate (me at the moment) or a member of the Security Council if you believe that anything in these threads has been incorrectly redacted.

I am preparing 60 threads today and tomorrow for release in 4 batches of 15 each. This will take us to roughly 300 threads released and leave us with less than a page of threads to go. The end is near!

30 threads have been moved to the redacted archive (279 in total).

Historical disclosure may be finished by the end of this week, or by early next week.

There are only 22 threads left, which are currently being reviewed. Afterwards, the next mandatory declassification will occur after August 1st. We'll still need to go back through released threads with posts by Kasch redacted due to inability to consent and remove those redactions.
