This week in 1824 April 2nd, a full 45 days before the First Norsitic Civil War would break out, West vs East, brother vs sister, Trien vs Norsian. Princess Moire, King Wilfrid the firsts beloved daughter and second eldest child, had her carriage and escort waylaid by republican militants in the central mountain city of Itenai. The battle raged street to street for ten whole minutes as the royal guard corps tried to get the princess to safety. they initially succeeded in the first skirmish managing to break out of the ambush with the princess unharmed but at the cost of severe casualties.. As they turned down the main avenue leading out of the city back east they were met with a blockade of unhorsed stage coaches and a wall of muskets, Veteran army troops and civilians too. The way back fared no better. With nowhere to go the remnants of the Princesses Royal Guardsmen formed a perimeter around the royal stagecoach and fought until the bloody end. Princess Moire would meet a brutal and savage end. Causing her father to famously declare 'I will have Trien heads for this!' and barely a day after the news of her murder, the East was mobilizing for war on a scale only seen once before in Norsos, when the Callisean Republican armies invaded a short decade prior.

the potential for two Norsitican states coexisting or reunifying peacefully cast into merciless fire. Reunification through Blood and Iron was now the only option left for the enraged Eastern King. The Civil War would last for four years and would see a grand total of 1,350,000 Norsian total casualties. 3% of the population and would become one of the deadliest conflicts in Norsitic history.
Despite his fathers rage, no one took Moire's death harder than her older brother, Wilfrid the Second. Her death and the war it caused is largely considered to be what made the once kind prince cold, cruel and vindictive. His ruthless crackdowns on would be dissenters and traitors as King while strengthening the authority of his Crown, in all matters civilian and military. Being ordained Emperor by the Borsean Druids, all would contribute and pave the way to what would later become Norsian Fascism.
