“People of Cojedes. Today, we join together in mourning the loss of an amazing national leader. This past Saturday, we said goodbye to the great Caleb Fernandez, former President, Secretary of Energy, Life Senator, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. I never thought I would be the one having to give the eulogy for my late friend. I had known Caleb ever since our days in the Senate together. He was one of the most amazing people I had ever known. When I found out he was elected President, I was so excited for him and was one of the first people to congratulate him. During his time in office, President Fernandez brought about change that our country had never before seen. He was the first President since the end of the Socialist regime in Cojedes and led us into a new modern era. His economic policies helped us rebuild our nation after the war. His policies on education helped more people than ever before be able to go to school. Under his leadership, we also saw the largest increase in the number of soldiers and military weaponry since the days of the Fascist War. But it was not only the way he helped our nation, it was the way he loved our nation. He loved the nation and its people in a way our country had never experienced before. He made sure the homeless of the nation had a place to stay. He made sure that orphanages had enough food and funds to continue operations for years. He made sure that no child went hungry under his Food For All Students executive order. The people of our nation are eternally grateful for the things which he has done in his lifetime as a national leader and I pray that his memory will live on forever. So now, President Fernandez, may you rest in peace in the comfort of the God you lived for and lived out your entire life. May your memory live on in the lives of the people you touched and may our countries leaders strive to be more like you each and every day. Thank you for the things which you did in your time. God bless your family and God bless our country.”

The People erupt into applause as President Andrea Lacasa finishes her speech. After several more eulogies continue, former President and current Chairman of the Senate Nestor Estávez takes the stand. The crowd goes silent as the former successor to Caleb Fernandez prepares to speak.

“I do not even know what to begin to say. Caleb Fernandez was a great man. He was a man who was true to his word and stuck true to his principles all the way until the end. I served in the House of Representatives when Caleb Fernandez was President of our country. During this time, I quickly became a friend of the nations leader, having several meetings with him per week and also dining with him and his family on numerous occasions. While people could speak of all the great things that he did for the nation, I think of the things he did for his friends and his family. He would never allow a friend of his to go hungry, even if it meant that he would have to do without for a night. And if you needed a place to stay, there was a warm bed and a meal always waiting for you. He gave generously and it is those values that run through his families veins and should run through ours. It is a testament to our people. His devotion to his family and friends was equal to his devotion to the nation. Caleb was trained in the Cojedan Marines and later put those skills to use during the Socialist Civil War. He was a leader of the National Council of Unity and served as Vice President under President Evita Arias. It was my deepest honor when I became President to declare him Hero of the Republic of Cojedes. It is with deep regret that I have to stand her today to say my final goodbyes. I knew this day would come, but I must admit that it was too soon. Cojedes has lost an amazing statesman, an amazing leader, and an amazing friend. May his memory forever live on in the lives of the Cojedan people and may we strive to be more like President Fernandez. Thank you.”

The people again erupt into cheers and applause as the former President and Chairman of the Senate walks away from the stage. After rejoining the others in their positions, the National Anthem is played, following by the 21 gun salute. People light candles throughout the Plaza and the President’s casket is taken over to the National Mausoleum of President’s, where his body is placed into his crypt and joins the other great leaders of the nation. All current leaders walk over to the Mausoleum and pay their respects and lay a rose on top of the casket as a symbol of respect to him and his family. The nation will continue to mourn its former leader, but his memory will live on.
