The sudden death of the beloved Queen Matilda II, her husband King-Consort Richard, and the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Defence, Aviation and Transport, and Security, respectively has left the Kingdom of McMasterdonia in a period of great mourning. It is the duty of the Government to ensure that the country continues to move forward despite these tragic events. The interim government pending the announcement of the new monarch will be as follows;

Effectively this also means that the Ambassadors Jessica Whitwell and Salman Mahmoud have been recalled from the nations of Salvarity and Avalon respectively. The respective governments will be informed when a replacement is appointed. We appreciate their patience on this matter.


The Government is announcing a temporary closure of borders between McMasterdonia and the nations of Anola, Lord Ravenclaw, and Great Bights Mum respectively. In addition all International Airports will remain closed until further notice. Finally, the Government will be imposing a 10:00PM curfew in Intelligentsia until the 5th of September in order to better protect the community.

The Royal Palace of Intelligentsia, and the Royal Caucus Warden wish to announce that following a direct vote of caucus members, Prince Albert, the current commander of the Royal McMasterdonian Armed Forces has been appointed Regent of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia. Caucus has agreed that Albert will serve as Regent until Prince Richard, the son of the late Queen Matilda II reaches the age of majority.

Prince Albert shall henceforth be known as King-Regent and shall exercise all of the powers granted to the monarch of McMasterdonia.

The King-Regent will make a public statement within the next 24 hours. This statement will be televised throughout the Kingdom and the world.

Credit rating lowered, stocks fall on McMasterdonia crisis

The McMasterdonian government closed international airports and land borders today in the midst of the largest political crisis in the nation's recent history.

Prince Albert, Queen Matilda's brother, was appointed King-Regent today by the McMasterdonian Caucus after the assassination of the late Queen in an attack on her motorcade in Eumenor. A heated exchange in the Democratic Union over Eumenor's responsibility to protect foreign heads of state ended with no solution to the row between the two nations.

Hours after the announcement that the government would be closing land borders and airports, Marini Investing Services, Floresque's largest credit rating agency, lowered McMasterdonia's credit rating to BBB from AA. It was reported yesterday by industry insiders that Marini would lower McMasterdonia's rating, but the downgrade came more quickly than expected by many.

In a statement, Marini referred to the "unstable economic situation" of the country and the "uncertain political future" of the government. It speculated that if the crisis is not resolved speedily, McMasterdonia may be unable to meet debt obligations at some point in the future.

Pozzo & Silvestri, the other major credit rating agency in Floresque, did not downgrade McMasterdonia but did change its outlook for the nation to "negative". An anonymous P&S insider said that Marini "was acting too aggressively in its downgrade" and "is speculating on McMasterdonia's speculativity."

The FSE fell 128 points on the news, and ended the day 94 points below opening at 15,962. Certain McMasterdonia stocks fell more than 15%, with Royal McMasterdonian Airlines ending the day having fallen 28% in value.

The Floregasque government has yet to comment on the news from McMasterdonia, but is expected to reiterate its support for the royal family.

King-Regent Albert Addresses the Nation

Earlier this morning, the recently appointed Regent of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia addressed his people for the first time. The King-Regent Albert was accompanied by his wife, Princess Madeline, and his sister Princess Wilhelmina, or as she will soon be known High-Priestess of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia.

King-Regent Albert salutes the Royal Guard​

The Regent spoke of the mourning that the young Prince Richard is experiencing, and announced that the Prince will remain out of the public eye for at least another six months. Rumours continue to fly about the health of the young prince and whether or not he has the mental capacity to ever govern the Kingdom.

The highlight of the speech was the King's stunning rebuttal to the Archbishop Gunrei. Gunrei has long been a supporter of the royal family but has become increasingly fanatical in his old age. The King stated his opposition to religious extremism and declared that Gunrei and his supporters would be hunted down till the farthest corners of the Kingdom, where they can run no more. The King had the opportunity to agree with gunrei, and many observers believe that the war would have largely been over, but McMasterdonia's international reputation would have been even more destroyed.

The King spoke strongly about what he described as the blood thirsty nations of the East, and dared them to take stronger action against Eumenor, or the Kingdom of Mcmasterdonia would be forced to act alone, and that he was more than prepared to do so. He had kind words for the nations of Floresque, the Russian Empire, and the Imperium Augustum, describing them as strong and courageous nations that occupy the eastern part of the planet Eras.

The King has committed himself to taking serious action, and it is unlikely that a new King, eager to prove himself would back down from his claims.

Senate back in Session?

The Senate in an extraordinary act declared that it was back in session today. The Senate passed multiple motions including a motion to repeal the so-called "Truth" act that restricts the reporting of issues inside Mcmasterdonia to the rest of the world. Other motions included an abolition of the tax code and a motion to appoint Rosemary Whent as Senate Chancellor. These ridiculous actions were swiftly undone by the Royal Palace, however, it has led to a great deal of confusion in government departments and has seriously undermined confidence in the Mcmasterdonian financial system.

"The Senators should be ashamed for the manner in which they threatened the wellbeing of an entire nation of citizens, and Rosemary Whent should hang for her involvement in this action alone" a Palace Spokesperson said.

Reports that Senate is taking Heavy Fire

In breaking news, we're receiving reports that the Senate building is taking heavy fire from the Royal Guard. The Unit, led by the King-Regents chief of personal security, Sharifa, has reportedly made it's way inside the Senate building and it is rumoured that as many as 50 Senators have been killed, including some junior members of the Royal Family.

Sharifa is a native to the nation of Naizierre and trained at the Royal Military Academy where she was hand selected by Prince Albert to serve as his personal guard. The two reportedly have a very close relationship, and the now King-Regent Albert will not travel anywhere without her at his side.

The Swetopian goverment assembled on the evening of August 25th to discuss the cricis between fellow NP Nations the Kingdom of McMasterdonia and The Democratic Republic of Eumenor which undoubtedly led to the death of Queen Matilda II of McMasterdonia.

Because of this incident and to protect not only our nation but also fellow members of the North Pacific Region, The Swetopian Ministry of Defence demand action from the Democratic Union.

DEMAND:
That the Democratic Union select a non-partial nation to perform a neutral investigation to deal with the uncertainties surrounding the death of Queen Matilda II and involvement of The Democratic Republic of Eumenor.

REASON:
We believe the investigation by The Democratic Republic of Eumenor as well as any future investigation by The Kingdom of McMasterdonia might be subject to manipulation.

We can't stress the importance of solving this issue enough.

Intelligensia, McMasterdonia: Police in McMasterdonia were forced to open fire on the McMasterdonian Senate building earlier today, killing a number of hostile senators. It is believed members of the royal family were caught in crossfire, and may potentially be deceased. Reports suggest that none of the deceased are prominent figures in the line of succession.

The stand-off is the denuement of a sudden reconvening of the McMasterdonian Senate by Rosemary Whent, a former McMasterdonian senator. Prior to the stand-off, Whent had escalated tensions between the Senate and the nation at large through the implementation of a radical agenda, abolishing the tax code entirely and paralysing government departments - potentially including those providing logistical support to the military and law enforcement. Anonymous sources suggest that this was a calculated effort to weaken elements of border control undertaking the difficult task of securing McMasterdonia and their royal family against the Eumenorian terrorists who took the life of the Honorable Matilda II. Indeed, it is no coincidence that members of the royal family have been confirmed dead in the stand-off, while a substantial number of other Senators were able to preserve their life upon being stormed by the King-Regent's personal security unit.

It is believed that Imperium Augustum intends to offer the assistance of the reputed 'Lictorial Service' in domestic security and intelligence work. However, key commentators at the Daily Acts argue that such an offer would be considered unseemly, as the King-Regent works to restore order after the coup d'etat initiated by Rosemary Whent. It is believed that at this point in time, foreign offers of intervention would simply complicate attempts by the McMasterdonian government to reinforce the logistical support structures of law enforcement agencies momentarily forcibly defunded by Whent's conspirators.

King-Regent Albert of McMasterdonia's expedited response to the coup d'etat through the use of his personal security quickly stopped the gap created by Whent. The actions by the Unit, led by officer Sharifa, proved beyond a doubt the Crown's dedication to its security independent of the impotent Senate.

A reconstruction of the counterattack on the Senate was designed by the Daily Acts' own Tacitus Varius, a former chief strategician in the employ of the Augustine Office, and later the Lictorial Service. It is believed that Senators in the Senate may have taken up positions to fight back, in the inner corridors and offices of the Senate building. Weaponry would have been available to them from security personnel, should the Senators have forcibly subdued the servicemen and stolen the equipment. It is believed at this time that the ammunition and trajectory profile of the sidearms likely available to the Senators would have resembled those of the sidearms used by Sharifa's unit. As a result, there is a serious concern that a coronor's report may be inconclusive for a number of Senators, who may have been killed by other Senators while fleeing to safety - fearing the repercussions of allowing them to escape and assist government investigations - or in the cross-fire between Sharifa's unit and the untrained Senators behind them.

In the close quarters of the Senate, it is certain that Sharifa's unit would have been at a disadvantage. Despite the significant firepower available to the Unit, it is likely that the spatial limitations of the Senate building itself would have required them to utilize their sidearms instead of their service rifles, making the rifles heavy, unmaneuverable handicaps, in stark contrast to the light-weight, space-efficient bullpup service rifles Augustan readers may be familiar with. At such close range, even the untrained Senators were almost guaranteed to wound or maim their targets, had they been capable of organizing an efficient defense - even with the Senators' tactical advantage and knowledge of the surrounds, no members of Sharifa's Unit are believed to have been wounded.

Sharifa herself is known to be an excellent tactician. Having been raised in Naizerre, and a graduate of the McMasterdonian Royal Military Academy, Sharifa's military pedigree rivals even top Imperium NCOs. Unlike Imperium's focus on logistics and 'mission-type tactics', McMasterdonia utilizes a more conventional form of military doctrine. As a result, Sharifa stands heads-and-shoulders above other prominent military minds as a familiar face to whom Augustan troops can relate. Unlike the modern formalized warfare of the democratic powers - and, in many cases, even those nations that otherwise embody the characteristics Imperium strives for - Sharifa's service to her King-Regent allows her to exercise her freedom as a warrior in servitude to her state. It is certainly refreshing that Imperium's finest may finally have a foreign figure whom they may aspire to be, instead of the multitude of great Augustan tactical geniuses cited again and again in the Augustan military institutions.

Like the Honorable Queen Matilda II, Sharifa is a woman who will inspire the hearts of Imperium Augustum, like Caesar's mother, and her mother before her.

TRAVEL ALERT - KINGDOM OF MCMASTERDONIA

The Foreign Ministry alerts all Floregasque citizens of recent violence in McMasterdonia surrounding an ongoing constitutional crisis. While the Ministry has not formally issued a warning, and does not believe Floregasque citizens in particular to be targeted, it recommends that all Floregasque citizens in McMasterdonia avoid public gatherings and be mindful of their own security.

A recent Senate meeting has been declared illegal by the government and violence followed an attempt to arrest Senators likewise labelled "rogue". Continued instances of unrest are possible, and even initially peaceful demonstrations can turn violent. The Ministry urges all Floregasque citizens to review security plans, remain aware of their surroundings, and monitor local news for updates on the situation.

As a general rule of emergency preparedness, you should have at least 72 hours of food, water, and essential medicines on hand at all times. This includes canned foods, bottled water, and maintenance medication, bandages, and other first aid supplies. Stores may be inaccessible in the future if violence spreads.

Again, the Ministry does not believe that Floregasque citizens in particular are being targeted at this time, but we encourage all citizens to be secure and safe. If you live in or are visiting Intelligensia, adhere to the curfew imposed by the government and do not gather in public. International airports will be closed. Do not attempt to visit airports as security will be heightened there. If there is an emergency and you need to leave the country, visit your local Floregasque consulate.

Statement regarding the McMasterdonian Senate Incident​

The Ministry of Security is pleased to announce that the ongoing security issues related to the McMasterdonian Senate have been resolved by the McMasterdonian Royal Guard. Working in conjunction with the Security Services, McMasterdonian Police Force, and the Sheriffs Office, the Royal Guard led by Officer Sharifa was successful in it's objective of taking back control of the Senate building from rogue forces.

The investigation relating to this incident. At this point in time, the McMasterdonian Government believes that the casualties stand at approximately 20 individuals. 6 of these individuals include rogue former Senators with ties to the terrorist Rosemary Whent, three security staff who were killed by the Senators when they attempted to usurp the Government of Mcmasterdonia, and 11 other Senators who were taken hostage and later killed by the terrorists.

These Senators include three members of the Royal Family. Princess Ivana of the Reach, Prince Theodore of Aurore, and Princess Magdelina of the Ancient Province. These members of the Royal family were second cousins to the King-Regent Albert, and served the Kingdom honourably. We regret that the Royal Guard was unable to get to the Senators before they were brutally gunned down by the terrorists.

The Ministry of Security is firmly in control of Intelligentsia, and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

The Exterminator eliminates Mcmasterdonian Senate

The Ministry of Security continues to refuse to answer questions about yesterdays brutal assault on the McMasterdonian Senate. Observers have noted that the Senate building took heavy fire when it was assaulted by more than 200 officers of the Royal McMasterdonian Guard. These guardsmen were led by officer Sharifa, or the exterminator, which is a term of endearment used to describe her in the McMasterdonian Royal Academy in New Intelligentsia.

Sharifa has achieved many accolades for her strategic and military efforts in the name of her master, King-Regent Albert, but he was merely a Prince when she came into his service at the age of 18. Since then, Sharifa has brutally and meticulously carried out Alberts orders and is known in particular for achieving the near complete destruction of the city of Castello, and for the successful assassination of the Granthem Family, the rulers of the city of Castello who were in open rebellion against the crown. Sharifa and Albert have been accused of using mustard gas and other chemical weapons against civilians, an allegation that the palace fiercely denies. Nonetheless, it was the destruction of the city of Castello and the killing of the ruling family that earned her the nickname of "The Exterminator".

The Exterminator was once again sent into action, this time against the McMasterdonian Senate. Like a mad dog, desperate to do her masters bidding, Sharifa and her 200 officers went into the Senate and brutally gunned down any individual who crossed paths with them. The 'official' story from the McMasterdonian Ministry of Security estimates that only 20 individuals were killed. The Global News has verified that many more than 20 bodies have been removed from the Senate building since the attack, and the Ministry of Security is very clearly involved in a government cover up.

McMasterdonian Global News contacted the Ministry of Security for comment, but received no response.

 

[Kannex]

The Empire of Kannex earlier evacuated its citizens from Mcmasterdonia before the trouble blew into a huge catastrophe. As news of Senate killings reached the ears of the Kannexan government, the Aussenministerium announced it would expand its asylum program to include refugees from the Mcmasterdonian political crisis. Already, the Kannexan Empire has accepted hundreds of refugees from Mcmasterdonia and other countries that have been affected by this crisis, as well as countries suffering from unrelated events such as Pelhafor. The right-wing nationalists have been up in arms over this asylum program, arguing that this would increase the crime rate and destabilize the Kannexan economy. Members of the conservative Liberal Party have echoed this statement.

So far, no word has been offered on Kannex's stance in this crisis. Kannex has maintained diplomatic relations with the new government, a relationship that reaches back to the marriage of Kannexan nobles to Mcmasterdonian royals.

Flemingovianists Seize Control of Port Augusta​

Fireworks. Gunfire. Song and dance. All words used describe the scenes of the city of Port Augusta after more than one week of fighting came to an end, with a strong and decisive victory for flemingovianist forces. The forces led by Archbishop Gunrei and his loyal lieutenants launched a sudden attack against the cities defences, leaving the embattled Kingdom unable to respond in a decisive manner. Within the first day the outskirting suburbs of the city had fallen to the Flemingovianists, and by the end of the week, the Commandant of the Port Augustan Palace, General Courtney White had surrendered the palace after the Flemingovianists guaranteed the safety of non-flemingovian citizens seeking refuge in the Palace.

This is the strongest blow to the Government's hold over the country. Port Augusta is a very old city that was first established as a major trading port in 1521 during the reign of Emperor William V, when McMasterdonia was still part of the joint-commonwealth with Great Bights Mum. Since the collapse of the Commonwealth in 1610, the city continued to grow exponentially reaching a population of five million citizens in the 1940s. Population growth continued to grow, but at a slower rate, reaching 6.5 million citizens in the province in 2010.

As a central trading hub for the nation of McMasterdonia, the city has traditionally been ethnically diverse. Añolan's make up 8.5% of the population, with Syrixians, and people from Naizerre, SillyString, and the Imperium Augustum make up approximately 9% of the population. Notably expats from the Floresgasque Republic control significant wealth, particularly in the southern ports, where a huge amount of McMasterdonian gold and iron ore is exported across Eras.

While the city has been traditionally strongly royalist, the city has always had strong ties to flemingovianism. Previously allegiance to flemingovianism would have implied allegiances to the sitting monarch, however in recent years, frustration with the corruption and nepotism of the extremely large Royal Family and the rulers of the City of Port Augusta has led to significant bad blood and protesting in the capital.

The greatest impact of the flemingovianists controlling this city, will be the strong influence they now have on McMasterdonian trade. The loss of the largest trading port in the Kingdom outside of Intelligentsia, is going to create huge economic issues for the kingdom, and other nations that rely on Mcmasterdonia's high consumption rates to support their national economic wellbeing.

The leader of the province, Chancellor of the Kingdom, and the Democratic Union Ambassador, Count Gregor, is still absent from the Kingdom handling matters before the Democratic Union. He has not returned to the city since 2013, which has encouraged the opinion that the city is being ignored by the national government and it's hereditary rulers.

TRAVEL WARNING - KINGDOM OF MCMASTERDONIA

The Foreign Ministry warns Floregasque citizens against all but essential travel to McMasterdonia, and warns Floregasque citizens living in the Southern Isle or the Earldom of Castello to depart immediately. The Consulate General in Port Augusta ceased all operations on September 14 because of ongoing violence between government security and Flemingovianist/Senate rebels. If in McMasterdonia, make contingency plans in case of an emergency and, if in the provinces of the Southern Isle or Castello, make plans to depart immediately. The Floregasque Embassy in Intelligensia is still operating and is available to help Floregasque citizens living in or visiting McMasterdonia.

Violence is most prevalent in the Southern Isle and Cape El, but nowhere in the country should be considered safe. The potential for hostile acts against Floregasque citizens exists throughout the country, and especially in the Southern Isle, Capricornia, and Cape El are Floregasque citizens at risk for kidnapping and terrorist violence.

Methods of attack include improvised explosive devices and conventional as well as unconventional weaponry. Reports of mustard gas use are uncorroborated but plausible. There is a major terrorist threat from extremist groups such as the Gunrei Branch Church of Flemingovia, officially known as the Church of Flemingovia, groups aligned to the outlawed Senate of McMasterdonia, and others. Floregasque citizens may be targeted by either group. Tactics for these groups include the use of improvised explosive devices, small and heavy arms, robbery, kidnapping, and murder. Major city centers such as Port Augusta, Capricornia, and Cape El should be considered targets.

Due to the security situation, the Floregasque Embassy's ability to help Floregasque citizens located in Castello, the Southern Isle, or the Ancient Province is extremely limited. The Floregasque government strongly recommends against Floregasque citizens flying to McMasterdonia to take part in the conflict. Individuals who express opposition to the goals of the Senate or the Gunrei Branch Church of Flemingovia may be targeted, and the Embassy's ability to help Floregasque citizens kidnapped, robbed, or held hostage, or the families of individuals who die as a result of taking part in the conflict, is extremely limited.

Floregasque citizens are reminded that fighting on behalf of, or lending aid to, designated terrorist organizations such as the Senate of McMasterdonia or the Gunrei Branch Church of Flemingovia is a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison and large fines.

Communications in affected provinces of McMasterdonia are extremely difficult as phone, internet, and electricity services are sporadic and increasingly unreliable. “We’ve just finished the drone sweep of grid seventeen, Professor Kendrick. Scans look good. There are a few buildings that look more or less whole; we might find some cultural material in there. Stéphane swears that one of the buildings is still fully intact, so Kacey wants to go do a site survey there right now.”

Honour Kendrick plugged in the data card the young man handed her, scanned the images on her tablet, then looked to the west. “She’ll have to wait until morning. It is too close to sunset, and the ink isn’t dry on our treaty with the locals. Have you seen those protesters outside the gates? They think we’re interlopers. The situation is still too tenuous; if we go poking around in the dark they may get the idea we are trying to loot behind their back. Tell her to examine the images herself until she knows the immediate geography and come up with a survey plan tonight.”

“Yes, ma’am. Don’t forget dinner again tonight.”

“Who’s got the duty?”

“Derek.”

“So, poorly reconstituted udon.” Honour sighed.

“He’s trying to improve, Ulf’s been working with him. And it worries Márta when you skip meals.”

“Tell her I’ll be there with bells on. And tell everyone else to make sure everything is secure. Data backed up, equipment stowed properly, and camp discipline is tight.”

“Is there a storm coming?”

"Not according to the latest satellite data. I just have a feeling something is coming our way.”

“A ‘feeling’?” Bernardo smiled indulgently, the way only a young person can do when their elders say something silly.

“I know, right? Still, wait to you get to lead an expedition, see how paranoid you get.”

“I hope not to the point where I think ‘feelings’ matter,” Bernardo laughed. “See you at dinner.”

Honour took out a bottle, popped a couple of small teal tablets. She looked to the late evening sun and the still, empty sky. Reflexively she adjusted her breathing mask, aching for the humid air of Sadakoyama. An emotional disbelief that people happily lived in a place like this, let alone fought and died over it, conflicted with her anthropological training. Maybe it was time to take a break from field work, settle down and raise her grandkids.

She looked over the latest drone data in more detail. Stéphane Zhao did excellent work; she made a note to upload a commendation in her next update to the university. She saw Márta walking across the camp, like as not to scold her for skipping meals as well. She put on a smile—easier now that the limosasine was kicking in—but the unpleasant feeling didn’t disappear entirely.

This expedition was going far too well, she decided. Something problematic must be coming.

On the other side of the Westmark peninsula, Chantry Walsh was reporting to the DOE representative, Brenden Addison. Every time she had to meet with the man, she was torn between wanting to gush to him how she had once been his famous mother’s companion on a diplomatic trip (which she had been strongly advised not to do by several people; he didn’t like to feel he was in still in her shadow) and just being outright intimidated by his resemblance to the Sciencemaster. His eyes, especially, she thought, not for the first time. They were the dark, piercing eyes of a bird of prey.

She was there on Dr. Kendrick’s behalf, to update him on the progress at the dig. She waited patiently as others ahead of her gave their reports. Construction on the hospital was going well, the naval/air base was provisionally operational, but not yet ready for the Active Duty units that would eventually posted there, and the school was ready and waiting for its first students. Oh, but it seemed like it would have to wait longer; according to the security report she overheard the protests and the general unrest in McMasterdonia had delayed the start of the semester. That was worrisome.

When she gave her report, he seemed pleased; in fact, he had commented before on how grateful he was Honour knew her business and never had any serious problems.

“Excepting the quality of the food, yes?” he joked with Chantry. “But then, that’s a perennial complaint with you lot, isn’t it? You never want to put up permanent quarters and a decent kitchen because ‘one never knows how far the site extends’, right?”

“Yes, sir,” she smiled weakly. She had been dressed down by Dr. Kendrick on exactly that subject after her first ‘meal’ at the dig.

“Well, this looks in order. Tell Honour if there is anything she needs, she’s just got to ask; thanks, Dr. Walsh.”

Chantry bowed slightly and slipped off, knowing a dismissal when she heard it.

Watching the pretty redhead scurry off, Brenden smiled. He knew about the young woman’s adventure with his mother and knew she was aching to talk about it; it was kind of an experiment for him, waiting to see how long before she cracked. He agreed with Harper’s assessment of the girl; smart, but let her emotions run her far too much. He wondered how she had ever passed her psych evaluation.


He turned to his colleague from DIS. “So what do you reckon about these protesters, Saul? Are they affiliated with the religious rabble that’s stirring up trouble?”

“It does not seem so. Most of the individuals we’ve identified are the same ones that showed up as soon as the gate went up, or are verifiably part of groups those persons are affiliated with; Mc’donian nationalists and the like. There have been a few new faces showing up recently, but they are not on their radar or ours; it’s likely a few of them are Flemist agitators, but there’s not enough of them to cause any trouble at this point.”

The DDT rep spoke up. “I concur; still, we might recall the Hypatia and have her nearby, just in case, and I have ordered the next supply ship to remain docked after she unloads and refuels, for the time being.”

“That sounds prudent to me, thanks Rima. Are we still on for poker tonight?”

Outside Westmark Station

The protesters had been gathering outside Westmark station off and on for years now. Their was little continuity to the protests, but they all agreed on the same thing. No foreign powers in McMasterdonia. Native islanders were disgusted when the provincial government and the Kingdom agreed to allow a station to be built on this land.

The signs were a familiar backdrop to the workers of the Westmark station. "Foreigners out of McMasterdonia" "Close the Station" "Burn the Station" "Stop unethical and sinful research". It was with this in mind, that the flemingovianists had lured them into a false sense of security. They had allowed this protest to build gradually over the past three weeks. But today, they were going to make the final strike against the centre. The leader of the group, Malik Fayeed, had assembled a group of 100 men and women, who were armed with machetes, guns, and tear gas, and were prepared to attack the centre. They knew that once the attack began, as many as hundreds, or even a thousand rioters would join them in the assault.

Malik Fayeed had grown up in the slums of Castello. The Castello ruling class were arrogant, self-entitled, despicable human beings, and he was thrilled to see Lady Granthem of Castello and the rest of her hateful family slaughtered only last year. It was unfortunate that they were slaughtered by the exterminator, or Sharifa as she was known in Intelligentsia. Malik would have much rathered that he be the one to slaughter them. They had aligned themselves with the so-called 'democratic' cause of the Whetns, but Malik was aligned only to Flemingovia and to the Archbishop Gunrei, who he hoped to one day see as the Supreme Leader of McMasterdonia. Any alliance with the Whents or the democrats, he hoped, was only a temporary measure.

The space station had been supported by both the Granthems and the McMasterdonian Royal Family. Now he was finally able to extract his revenge on the ruling class who had forced this station upon the native people, and the foreigners, who attempted to conduct 'research' or steal resources from the native people of McMasterdonia. He stood up before the crowd of protesters, and said:

"Citizens of McMasterdonia. Our day has come. For too long we have allowed the ruling class of McMasterdonia to treat us like animals. They steal our money. They steal our resources. They leave us destitute and on the streets, only to then arrest us and fine us, for the state we are forced to live in. This Station has been a blight upon McMasterdonia for too long. It represents everything we must hate. It represents greed. It represents foreign power. It represents oppression. Finally, but most importantly, it represents a belief and following in something beyond what Flemingovia has demanded of us. It supports and believes in sinful and blasphemous activities. Today we will wipe the slate clean, with the blood of so-called scientists, and the blood of any one who stands in our way.

In the name of Flemingovia, in the name of Archbishop Gunrei, our Supreme Leader and Spiritual Guide. We will fight, and kill, these foreign oppressors to the last man!"

As soon as his statement had concluded, the assembled men and women yelled "For Flemingovia" or "For the Supreme Leader" and began to attack the barricades. Explosive were set against the gates, and jeeps were rammed into the fencing. Scientists and workers attempted to flee but were hit with machetes to death, gunned down, or beaten lifeless. The Security Guards attempted to fire back at the protesters, but were mainly concerned with protecting the building infrastructure.

Before long, the courtyard of the centre was littered with the bodies of foreigners, and the bodies of the rioters. The Security Guards retreated and put the central building under lock down -presumably to protect the research. Malik did not care about the research. He was here to send a message, and the message had been received.

In breaking news, we have received reports that the SDKY Space Centre on the McMasterdonian Isle has been attacked by flemingovianist rioters. It is estimated that up to 500 people could be dead, most of them scientists, or workers at the SDKY centre. It is believed that the small security service at the site did little to protect employees, instead aiming to protect the buildings and the research contained within.

Reportedly, the leader behind the attack is none other than Malik Fayeed, a native from the city of Castello, who had pledged his forces and his own loyalty to the Archbishop Gunrei. It is unclear how much damage this will have on the standing of the Archbishop in the international community, or if even the Kingdom's government will be held responsible for being unable to prevent this attack. What is clear, is that the Kingdom continues to underestimate the power and influence that the flemingovianist cause continues to hold over large parts of McMasterdonia.

We believe that the fighting has since come to a stop, and that the security services are attempting to collect bodies and calculate the total death toll. We will not announce the names of any individuals killed, until we are certain that the families of the victims have been notified.

Update 1: A video has emerged of the leader, Malik Fayeed speaking to the crowd. In his statement he says:

We have attempted to contact the Archbishop for comment, but have received no response.

Update 2: Videos continue to emerge and are going viral on social media. These videos show the mass murder of many scientists and workers at the SDKY space centre. These videos appear to be going viral as individuals want to celebrate this mass murder as an act of god.

Update 3: We now estimate that the death toll could rise as high as 1000 people, including rioters.

Tim Penders had been the first to die.

Chantry saw it all later, on the video feed from the security cameras watching the fence line. The gate bursting open and the Mc’Donian protesters pouring through, angry and waving their signs and improvised weapons. She had been telling Dr. Kendrick about her conversation with Dr. Addison at HQ when they heard the noise. Tim, still at the site, obviously heard it too, because his body cam showed him looking up from the sketch he’d been making, putting down his tablet, and moving through the dig in the fading light. The rest was mayhem Chantry didn’t want to dwell on; the running mob, the machete slicing through Tim’s upraised hand and into his body, the blood—so much blood—pooling in the soil.

Kacey died swinging a field light in defense of her “library”.

Everything happened fast after that. Dr. Kendrick breaking out the weapons, cursing that they had only seven rifles at the camp. Six volunteers took them; the rest gathered as much of the data and the most valuable artifacts and ran back for headquarters. The rest of the night was a blur; she remembered Stéphane’s sweaty back running in front of her, hearing the distant ‘crack’ ahead of them that was the Hypatia’s railgun firing, and the thuds behind them that ensued. Then the popping of automatic weapons; Kendrick’s squad opening fire. She pretended she couldn’t tell what the screams that followed meant.

At headquarters, they didn’t stop. Brenden was there, giving orders, and they were hustled along to a docked cargo ship. They stowed their burdens, and went back several more times to evacuate as much materiel as possible before the savages reached them.

Brenden’s defensive line held, though, and the rioters retreated, at least temporarily. As the dawn broke, someone helped her into a makeshift bunk on the cargo ship, and she passed out, exhausted.

Brenden Addison was exhausted as well, but he still had a job to do. He felt an inappropriate sense of bitter satisfaction when the demolition team set off the charges that took down what had been intended to be the school. Let them die ignorant, he thought, but suppressing the hateful slur that wanted to follow it.

The special team emerged from the hospital, carrying the last bits of equipment they would salvage here. The team lead gave him a nod; their work inside was complete. Brenden called out to his assistant, who tossed him a can of spray paint. In red, he painted a large depiction of a chess knight over the doors, with a circled #1 below it. “Let’s get out of this damnable place.”

As he approached the freighter, he noticed someone had been doing their own painting; “Engralius II” had been crudely scrawled on the stern of the boat. He approved.

Captain Amado Kaito of the Hypatia watched the freighter pull away from the dock; the Sadakhan evacuation was complete. He was stewing with frustration; Abbiati herself—for reason he were sure were valid were his emotions not getting in the way just now—had ordered him not to drop a railgun round into the middle of the speech the leader of the savages was making, killing them all. He vented his frustrations by ordering the gunners to utterly destroy the naval station.

Thomas Kirk, a ten-year old tourist from Guslantis, opened the door to his hotel room to see what all the commotion in the hallway so early in the morning was. Soldiers filled the hallways, knocking on doors that the one with the tablet pointed to. He saw people being hustled out of their rooms, half-dressed dragging their luggage. The soldier with the tablet saw him, looked at the device and the room number on the door, and said “Kirk, Guslantis?”

Thomas nodded nervously.

The soldier rustled his hair. “Get back inside, kid.”

SDKY TODAY:

In the wake of the reprehensible attack on the Westmark science station late last night by religious radicals, representatives from the DIS announced Sadakoyama will be abandoning the peninsula. Reports indicate casualties were significant, but that a substantial proportion of the data and artifacts were rescued, as well as the majority of the station personnel. Warnings were issued to the government of McMasterdonia that the research hospital was sealed, and that as it was engaged in investigating cures and treatments for virulent diseases endemic to the region that unauthorized persons should not approach the building.

SM Eladio Bolívar, DDT, was recorded making a private statement that Sadakoyama intends to adhere to its statement of neutrality, but that “[McMasterdonia] needs to get this infection under control”, promising unspecified action would be taken should it affect Sadakoyama further. SM Addison quickly made a statement assuring the international community that this was not the official position of the Council, but that “it’s not terribly far off the mark, either.”

In related news, Sadakoyama has expelled tourists from McMasterdonia and those professing Flemingovian beliefs, and suspended further flights to and from that nation, pending the resolution of the current crisis.

• The GCCE does not have substantial power projection capabilities, but has significantly limited the power projection capacity of the McMasterdonian government through the capture of key strategic point Port Augusta.
• The GCCE is taking steps to remove foreign influence from the McMasterdonian territory, as evidenced by a fundamentally conventional offensive against the SDKY science station in central McMasterdonia.
• The GCCE is hostile to the Paxcist faith (see appendix).

With the understanding that the GCCE poses an existential crisis to the free and open practice of the Paxcist faith in McMasterdonia, and to the McMasterdonian government, and to the city and former Latin colony of Port Augusta, Imperium Augustum will enforce the following policies with immediate effect.

• Nations recognizing the GCCE as a sovereign state will be placed under embargo.
• Assets of the above will be frozen.

Those executed are excommunicated at death automatically, within the traditions of the Church of Pax. Mr. Gunrei is excommunicated immediately.
• In carrying out the above sentence, any known relations of Mr. Gunrei within IA are to be arrested immediately. They may request pardon from Caesar. If pardon is not given, they are to be executed.
• IA is committed to preparing the body of Mr. Gunrei in accordance with Augustine canonical law regarding heretics.

Imperium Augustum wishes to be entirely clear as to the severeness of the GCCE and its rejection of the very basis of Augustine canonical law.

The Government of Salvarity greatly condemns the barbaric attack upon the Westmark science station. The religious fanatics that have taken hold in McMasterdonia are a plague upon this world, they only serve to further destabilize the nation and the region as a whole. This attack is only a small indication of how this movement carries itself. Science is a means to a brighter future, a future we can all live and prosper in. A movement that rejects the benefits of science, so far as to declare war upon it, is not a movement destined to prosper in the modern world. Those residing in and around this station did not deserve the fate cast upon them. As of such the Salvarian Government greatly condemns the attack upon the science station. Fundamentalist is a relic of an age long gone, it is time for that realization to hit McMasterdonia.

Furthermore we greatly condemn the Flemingovianist rebels currently in McMasterdonia. All assets that can be tied with Flemingovianists rebels currently held in Salvarity will be seized and liquidated if discovered. The proclaimed Archibiship Gunrei shall be considered nothing more than a terrorist by the Salvarian Government.​

The survivors of Westmark arrived back home today, docking at the naval station within the Vandemar military complex. The survivors are being debriefed and treated for medical injuries and trauma, then are expected to be released from their responsibilities for a few weeks to recover with their families.

Public support is growing for the proposal to rename the science vessel SDKYSS Hypatia to memorialize slain archaeologist Dr. Honour Kendrick. Dr. Kendrick and six others of her science team sacrificed their lives at Westmark to allow their colleagues to escape with their lives and research data, as well as delaying the attackers long enough for a proper defense to be organized. Critics of this proposal call such a move premature, as emotions are raw at the moment, the move would slight the other six equally heroic defenders, and historically science ships are named to commemorate a significant lifetime body of work accomplished by their namesakes, not single acts of heroism.

In a quiet meeting With SM Harper Wade Addison aboard the SDKYSS Norman Borlaug, McMasterdonia’s King Regent Albert renewed his country’s commitment to the Sadakoyama Neutrality Treaty. A brief, unofficial discussion was also held, the details of which have not been released.

In related news, Sadakoyama’s tourism industry continues to suffer as the ban on one of TNPs major airlines affects visitor numbers all across the nation. A spokesman for the Department of Business Studies/Hospitality expressed hope that McMasterdonia resolves its political crisis and flights could soon resume. A representative from the Department of Transportation Science declined to comment.

In another uncharacteristically belligerent public statement, SM Bolivar verbally and informally condemned those nations that have not yet spoken out against the atrocities committed at Westmark, accusing them of moral cowardice or collusion with the terrorists.
In subsequent official announcement from the DDT, General Marcellus Evanson expressed regret for the Sciencemaster’s emotional statements, explaining that the Westmark tragedy affected the SM very deeply. Evanson further announced that he is retiring from active military duty to assume interim Directorship of the Department while SM Bolivar takes a well-deserved and overdue vacation.

Live: King arrests members of royal caucus, accuses them of treason.

We have been following closely the developments of the Royal Cuacus meeting, which has unprecedentedly been televised in a live broadcast across the Kingdom of Mcmasterdonia and the world. The most shocking development of the meeting has been the acknowledgement that their have been multiple assassination attempts against the person of the King-Regent Albert of Mcmasterdonia, and that members of his own family have been involved in a plot - with close links to the Kingdom of Plembobria, that was aimed at destroying and undermining the King and McMasterdonian state.

Here is what the King had to say:

• "My brother has attempted to commit regicide, to poison his head of state, his own brother, so that he may take the regency for himself. We have been forced to use extraordinary measures to extract the names of the co-conspirators in this terrible plot against the Kingdom. Anyone who has attempted to aide my brother is equally guilty of treason and will be punished accordingly. However. I offer mercy. I invite anyone, who wishes to ensure both their own survival and that of the Prince Alexander, to come forward now."

Following the King's invitation, a member of his own family, and a close confidant of the regime, Princess Magdalena, younger sister of the King and the late Queen Mitra II, stood forward and read out a long list of names involved in the plot. Despite being assured of mercy, both Magdalena and Prince Alexander were summarily executed on the spot, by the royal body guard Sharifa.

More than 50 members of the assembled caucus were arrested and dragged off by Royal Security Forces, presumably these individuals will face a military trial and ultimately be sentenced to death within the week. Statement on Royal Caucus Meeting & Other matters

The Kingdom of McMasterdonia has been forced to take unprecedented action in the face of significant foreign threats, both external and internal. The attempts against the life of the King-Regent have been sponsored by the Kingdom of Plembobria, and carried out by their agents within the Kingdom. These agents have since been arrested, and have accordingly been found guilty of high treason, the penalty for such an offence is death.

The members involved in this act of treason include many senior members of the Royal Family, and provincial warlords. The Kingdom of McMasterdonia asks that the international community respects our sovereignty and allows us to address this manner internally, through the appropriate institutions of the Mcmasterdonian state.

PRESS RELEASE - VOLUNTARY EVACUATION OF FLOREGASQUE CITIZENS IN THE KINGDOM OF MCMASTERDONIA, EMBASSY TO CLOSE

Today, in consultations with the Gonfaloniere, the Foreign Ministry has made the difficult decision to organize a voluntary evacuation of Floregasque citizens from the Kingdom of McMasterdonia. A vast majority of Floregasque citizens have already departed McMasterdonia as it has descended into violence, but those that remain are almost all in the capital Intelligensia. In the next few hours, the Embassy will be reaching out to those citizens and encouraging them to come to the Embassy to arrange travel out of the Kingdom.

In recent weeks, the situation in McMasterdonia has increasingly deteriorated. Flemingovianist and Whent-aligned rebels continue to threaten government forces, power grids, hospitals, and other modern necessities are increasingly difficult to come by and unreliable, and the recent declaration of war upon Plembobria will surely result in greater violence. The Embassy cannot continue to recommend that Floregasque citizens remain where they are or continue life as usual; it is time for Floregasque involvement in McMasterdonia to come to an end until the situation stabilizes.

After the evacuation has been completed, the Floregasque embassy will be closed and our ambassador withdrawn. While this does not constitute a withdrawal of recognition of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia it does mean that the Republic feels its diplomats can no longer be guaranteed their safety. While our embassy is closed, Imperium Augustum will be serving as the Republic's protecting power. Floregasque citizens needing assistance should contact the Floresque Affairs Section of the August Consulate in Intelligensia.

If you have loved ones in McMasterdonia, there will be limited opportunities to contact them as the evacuation is ongoing. The Republic can promise that it will do its utmost to keep its citizens safe and secure. Please follow these events closely as we wind down our diplomatic presence in the Kingdom.

The Members of the Cabinet, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Leah of Guslantis, and the Governor of the Theed Province, gathered in the Thomas Complex on this day in October, do hereby declare its neutrality of the declared war state of the Kingdom of Plembobria and the Kingdom of McMasterdonia. The Members of the Guslant Cabinet see both Kingdoms in great light, and would not find themselves on either side of this great conflict. As we believe that as war rages on in these two states, our embassies cannot and will not stay open, and thus, both ambassadorial staffs have been given the order to withdraw. Two of our most praised diplomats, Abigail Hutchinson and Parker Fuller, will be offered to host negotiations, so that when the time comes, this war can be concluded swiftly.

Unfortunately, the Monarchy cannot continue to support the newly-crowned King-Regent of McMasterdonia and his blatant hostilities against the world just shortly after the death of his predecessor and sister, Matilda, and do not believe this is the way that she would have handled the situation, and hope that the King would see that these actions can be redone, as no troops have yet mobilized.

It is currently stated by the Ministry of Defense that Guslantis will be operating as per normality, and that no Guslant troops will be mobilizing at this point and hopefully at any point during this war of the Kingdoms. Chancellor Burns will be updating the citizenry of any further statements from the Cabinet, and both her and the Governor will be hopefully talking to the Kings in the coming days.

Any dual-citizens of these states that are currently residing in The Monarchy are advised to remain where they are and continue to operate as you usually would. Refugees from the warmongering nations will be accepted into Augustus Town from the aforementioned nations if they meet the proper requirements as set by the Guslant Cabinet. No firearms or members of the army are accepted, and must be thoroughly check by Guslantis' Custom Agents.

Statement on the war with the Kingdom of Plembobria​

Late this afternoon, intelligence operatives from the McMasterdonian Security Forces launched a devastating blow against the tyrannical state of the Kingdom of Plembobria. These operatives have single handedly brought the government of the Kingdom of Plembobria to it's knees, and have crippled their war effort against us. The attack took place at Rethel Palace, ensuring the death of the leadership of the Kingdom of Plembobria and minimal civilian casualties.

The death toll includes King Tozian I of Plembobria, Princess Nara of Plembobria, and the Duke of Flithendale & Former Chancellor of McMasterdonia, Gregor.

This was a necessary act by the Kingdom of McMasterdonia, who is determined to secure it's nation against foreign threats, espionage, and assassination attempts by the Kingdom of Plembobria. This successful operation has ensured that the war effort will come to a swift conclusion as the collapse of the Plembobrian state is guaranteed - with the old tyrannical regime being eliminated, making way for a new more liberal regime to take it's place.

While the Kingdom regrets that the war has had to come to this, we must recognise that this action has ensured a minimal number of lives lost in what would have become a long and drawn out war for both nations, and for the world at large.

We Upon the Auspicious Throne of the Spirits and Ancestors are saddened by the rapid escalation of events in our southerly neighbor, McMasterdonia. Many of Our people call them devils for their actions against Myroria in the past. Their empire was responsible for the pogroms and massacres that culminated in the Great Theft of Our Holy Names centuries ago, and some Myrorians hold even the long descendants of those sinners responsible.

The history between Our nation and McMasterdonia may have been violent and troubled, but the premature deaths of so many innocents makes Us weep nonetheless. In this Remembrance tide, the month of the Day of the Dead, when We and Our people consider the fate that takes us all, to see so many people succumb to that fate due to the will of others can be hard to bear. War is a horrid thing that has meaning less often than is claimed. Could the differences between Plembobria and McMasterdonia, or between the rebels and the Royal Family be reconciled with speech and discussion? This We cannot say.

We cannot help but feel that the meddling and conniving of the Established Peoples contributed to the terrible state the Kingdom now finds itself in. Eastern legends speak of 'vampires' at times; unlike the mischievous spirits that trouble Myrorians, these undead are corporeal and with a thirst for blood. The Democratic Union and other organizations like it inevitably suck the life from the nations they are invited into like a 'vampire'. People, enthralled to these organizations, do not blame them for their incompetence at preventing strife - the one thing they set out to do - and instead make excuses for them.

"Our organization is here to keep the peace", the Established Peoples say as they enter nations on great warships and carry guns and weapons. "We are here to restore government to the will of the masses," the Established Peoples say as they enforce unfair regime change. The actions of Albert are excessive, yes, but who could blame him for his transgressions in the face of such overwhelming opposition? A monarch's first responsibility is to protect his or her home, and even We cannot predict our behavior if put into a position similar to Albert's.

When the Empire came north from Intelligensia hundreds of years ago they said they would keep the peace in Myroria. They said they would dismantle our honorable, familial Great Houses because of their violence towards each other and replace them with a more serene form of government that would treat all equally. Inevitably, these paternalistic promises turned to abuse and then to genocide. When the Democratic Union promises peace and tranquility, what will they bring?

When trouble was becoming obvious in McMasterdonia but before the guns were being drawn where were the Established Peoples? Did they take an interest in the internal affairs of their ally and neighbor? No - they only took interest when they had an excuse to threaten the use of soldiers and guns; when they could take control of their ally by force.

We decided to hold a conference in Novrith because of Our concern for the world under the boot of the Democratic Union and organizations like it. Organizations like the North Pacific Treaty Organization pledge military force in response to outside "aggression". Promises of violence will never lead to peace. Nations of the world who are unaligned to these Established Peoples must agree to defend themselves from incursion, lest we end up like the government of McMasterdonia - split in twain, with internal forces threatening it from one flank and the forces of the Established Peoples threatening it from another.

We give our deepest condolences to the dead in this horrible war. Neither side is blameless in this hellish conflict, but the Established Peoples should think twice before throwing Albert to the dogs. As Sedera, We know when it is necessary to guide Our people with a firm but just hand. Albert, perhaps, knows something of this as well.

In the past days, the McMasterdonian crisis has escalated drastically. The regency government of King Albert I has claimed control over the state of Plembobria, after the assassination of his kinfolk, King Tozian I. Citing right by birth, and right by conquest, the McMasterdonian regency government has therefore attempted to enter a personal union with Plembobria.

After the democratic government's recognition of the personal union as legitimate, through the High Court, former members of the Senate formed the Emergency Directorate.

It is the opinion of Imperium Augustum that King Albert I cannot be a legitimate claimant to the Plembobrian throne, given his disrespect for the sanctity of the personhood of the state in King Tozian I, his own bloodkin.

An alternative notwithstanding, Imperium Augustum will recognize the Emergency Directorate as the legitimate regency government holding the Plembobrian throne. It is currently believed that there would be no legitimate claimant by blood to the throne of Plembobria, as Mr. Albert I has disinherited his kin from the Plembobrian throne by Imperium canonical law.

We also wish to touch upon the Guslantis conflict, having noted that the Honourable Queen Leah Charles has been forced to lead a government in exile from Plembobria. Furthermore, we recognize the continued failure of the McMasterdonian regency under King Albert I to retake the city of Port Augusta, a symbol of the relationship between Imperium and McMasterdonia, currently held by the heretical Gunreist militants.

Having considered all alternatives, Imperium will be calling up its reserves into active duty, and instituing a rationing scheme, effective immediately.

In this I shall reveal all. You have my greatest gratitude for your patience. Thankfully, I am very much alive and well, but my heart grieves for those killed by the act of brutality at Rethel Palace.

The agents I sent into McMasterdonia were sent for a single purpose: to rescue the Queen Mother of McMasterdonia. Only she could expose the vile brutality of Albert's regime, and reveal the true location of Prince Richard, the legitimate King of McMasterdonia.

My agents were captured by soldiers at the encampment, and freed by a dwarvish army. They did a noble deed in rescuing my agents, as well as the Queen Mother.

My actions were entirely in favor of security of the true McMasterdonian state, that which is to be led by Richard, though he is a child, his regent shall be Queen Mother Amira. The actions of King Regnant Albert are cruel and disgusting. He must be deposed. He is a deceiver and a murderer.

Many nations have quickly rushed to call my agents actions, and the actions of the dwarvish army, acts of war. They are wrong, and foolish to make quick decisions without evidence. They are not acting to defend their ally, since the regime they are defending is no more legitimate than Cape El insurgents. If their leader have any sense or reason, they will accept this truth, and end their diplomatic hostility towards us, and align themselves with the true Kingdom of McMasterdonia, not Albert's imaginary pet state.

I am certain that the many friends of the great Kingdom of McMasterdonia have watched our sudden decline with a degree of helplessness; they have seen the terrible acts committed by the former King-Regent Albert of McMasterdonia and watched in disbelief as he took the Kingdom almost to the brink of the great abyss.

The King-Regents treacherous actions were only announced to the world after the courageous efforts of loyal servants of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia; these members include the Royal Family of The Kingdom of Plembobria. Without the courageous decision of King Tozian - a decision that ultimately put the safety of his family and that of his nation at risk - we would not be here to speak freely about the actions of the Regency Government.

In the coming weeks, months, and years, we are sure that there will be more light shone on the atrocities committed during this terrible civil war by all sides; and we are determined to see this terrible war brought to a swift conclusion. In order to facilitate the regency transistion, and to provide for the good order and efficient operations of the Kingdom's Governments, we the undersigned members of the Government of McMasterdonia, the Royal Family, the Armed Forces, and the Security Services commit our support to the regency of Queen Mother Amira in the name of King Richard II of McMasterdonia.

Poll indicates huge support for Queen Amira

The King-Regents statement earlier today has done little to assure people of his intentions for the Kingdom of McMasterdonia, or that his Mother, a hugely respected figure in the Kingdom of McMasterdonia is lying or suffering at the hands of foreign powers. The King-Regent had this to say:

"Citizens of McMasterdonia, our enemies of the Established Peoples of the East, and our Western brethren: here me on this day.

The accusations lodged by the Queen Mother Amira are false. She is a victim of her own elderly age and dementia, and has been unfortunately manipulated by foreign powers in Plembobria and Syrixia. We cannot trust their intentions with the people of this Great Kingdom. Together we must rise up and defeat the foreign imperialist dogs - all co-conspirators will suffer the same fate.

Today we must continue our glorious march to harmony - we must be united if we are to defeat the flemingogvian warlords, and protect McMasterdonia from the foreign farce. I shall never abdicate the throne of McMasterdonia - this throne is mine by rights, until the Prince Richard achieves majority and is deemed of sane mind. While he is imprisoned by the forces of the Lancerian Empire he cannot be the King of the McMasterdonians!"

Polling indicates that approximately 72% of people support the move for Albert's immediate abdication, with 20% undecided and 8% against. This is a huge showing of support for the Queen Mother's claims and may well have an impact on deliberations before the Democratic Union.

The decision of the cabinet to unanimously support the move was no doubt a decisive factor in the shift of public opinion. Many people understand the huge risks that cabinet members were taking in declaring their support for a different regency. Should this transition fail, those Ministers may likely be killed or imprisoned for life. Since the King-regents statement to the people, there have been reports of numerous clashes between the Security Services and the Royal Guard - estimate put the death toll in the thousands.

Governor Bhutto accepts Imperium Occupation

Governor Bhutto of New Intelligentsia has reportedly met with the occupation authorities from the Imperium Augustum and submitted her acceptance of their occupation. This comes growing significant instability within the New Intelligentsia territory following the disputed regency transition between the King-Regent Albert and his mother, the Queen Mother Amira.

Governor Bhutto announced on Thursday that she fully intended to support the regency of Queen Amira, stating that:

"The lies and deceptions committed by the King-Regent Albert have left us with no alternative. He must allow his mother to take over as Regent of the Kingdom of McMasterdonia and I demand that a full independent investigation occur to ascertain the truth about what has occurred during this very troubled period"

Academics at the New Intelligentsia University were broadly supportive of her decision to support the regency transition. Religious scholars from the Sacred Mountain Temple however, responded violently to her decision.

"The Governor should have supported a complete overhaul of a failed system." The Grand Ayatollah of the Flemingovian Temple of New Intelligentsia said Friday Morning "She continues to attach herself to a troubled regime - one that is not supported by the people. We must be prepare to recognise that the only path to peace involves the Supreme Patriarch Gunrei. Only he can bring the necessary stability and good governance McMasterdonia needs"

Following the statement from the Supreme Patriarch - students and acolytes from the Temple gathered outside the Governor's Mansion. Demanding that she resign immediately and allow the Grand Ayatollah of the Temple to administer the province until further notice. Naturally, this was rejected by the Governor leading to widespread violence, riots and looting. This is what reportedly led to the decision by Imperium Augustum to occupy the province and effectively restoring order through their use of unarmed peace keepers.

The Imperium Augustum sent notice of this occupation to the King-Regent Albert, which strongly suggests that the Imperium continues to support Albert over Amira as the rightful regent of McMasterdonia.
