Applauding the World Assembly's protection of equality of persons with regard to many personal decisions, including the decision to marry;

Believing that freedom of marriage is a fundamental liberty, and should be protected under international law;

The World Assembly hereby:

Defines "marriage", for the purposes of this resolution, as a legal or formally recognized union between sapient individuals as spouses in a personal relationship;

Guarantees the right of all sapient beings of legal majority within the territorial boundaries of member states to enter into a marriage with one or more other consenting sapient beings, according to whatever customs or traditions pertain to their culture, faith, or beliefs, within the confines of existing World Assembly law;

Reiterates that the right to marry does not protect any case of coerced marriage, nor instances of child marriage.
