Downfall of the European Union
The Empire started some 257 year past after the downfall of the EU and the world economy, years of socialism and PC influences led the union falling apart. Brexit, Frexit, Ditch, Italeave, Poleave, etc
Taking a large portion of the world economy with it, the oil countries threw the oil prices skyhigh leading the US to seize the middle east, Russia and China were quick to declare war on the US in the fight for control of the world oil supplies. The world spun into war, the first victim was the internet, pulled down within the first few hours. Tensions kept climbing.

But what they all had not foreseen was that they now had no way of getting the resources they needed, trade talks broke down and Europe dwindled into chaos, countries fell apart and it became everyone on their own.

An end to the chaos
It was then that in West-Friesland, the former Netherlands, a Dutch man by the name of Bryan von Friently gained an entourage of followers in his centralist ideas, people needed someone to lead and he was this someone.
His ranks grew by the day and he started to unite the cities and villages on the peninsula, Enkhuizen, Medemblik, Bovenkarspel and within a month he had taken the first big city, Hoorn.

The start of royalty
This was when the Duchy of Friently came to be, the people elected Bryan to be the Duke to lead them.
He now had enough people to form an army and he set his eyes on the bigger cities like Alkmaar and Den Helder.

The following year he took most of North and South Holland both through peacefull annexation and sometimes hard battle and in the next couple of months he conquered most of the province of the former Netherlands. Not much resistance was met until he tried to cross the Afsluitdijk where he found another group of people who did not take kindly to his path of conquest and blocked the dyke from passage. A bloody battle was fought on the Yselmeer as Friently forces tried to pass by boat. Dozens of people died in the fresh waters of death but eventually they were able to cross and defeat the group.

The Kingdom of Friently
The next weeks he took the rest of the Netherlands and parts of western Germany. The people now crowned Bryan von Friently to King and the Duchy was reformed into a kingdom.

Months passed and a german scout group came upon the territory occupied by the Kingdom of Friently, the scouts hailed from Hannover which had also become a major faction in Germany after it had fallen apart. Hannover controlled the region from Osnabruck to Magdeburg to Hamburg.

Hannover
Bryan visited the city's leader and it was during this visit he first saw the woman that was going to become his wife, the Empress, he fell in love with her the moment he laid eyes on her and she was definitely not blind to him as well.
But he did not come to watch women, he came to seek an arrangement that would mean the peaceful co-existing of the two factions. Wilhelm of Hannover, an old but good and cheerfull was certainly interested into an arrangement that would secure his western border allowing him to focus his forces on the north, south and east.

A bloody succes
The following months Friently had taken Belgium and the Northern parts of France where he hit upon a coalition of smaller French groups on their way North and war was unavoidable, the first battle was bloody and undecisive so Friently visited Wilhelm of Hannover with a proposition, help battle the French and Friently would help him take Berlin which was divided into many small insignificant groups but which was too big to take and control by himself alone.

Wilhelm thought for a long time but before he could answer a first of many deadly attempts on his life was undertaken, they managed to defeat the man but not without Bryan taking a knife to the gut after which he was taken into the hospital, this was where he first met the woman he fell in love with, her name was Julliette of Hannover and she turned out to be Wilhelms daughter, she came to thank him for saving her fathers life and to tell hom that her father had agreed to help the kingdom of Friently to fight the French coalition.

The mother of a dynasty
Their eyes met and it sparked instantly, the next week she came to visit every day to sing for him for she had the most beautifull voice in the world to him.
Both were madly in love with eachother.

After three weeks had passed von Friently had healed enough to return to lead his army.
With tears in his eyes he said farewell to Julliette and left.

The next months were spent breaking through the stalemate in France and to take the outskirts of Paris after which several weeks were spent to seize and hold Berlin as Bryan had promised Wilhelm. They celibrated on top of the conquered Reichstag where they toasted to the future of Europe
Later on the evening Wilhelm walked up to Bryan and Julliette who were talking on the balcony and told them that he had seen his daughter drool over him, ask him when he would return. Wilhelm told Bryan that nothing would make him happier than to see the two be bound in holy matrimony, both of them were overjoyed and wanted nothing else but Brysn wanted to give her a beautifull wedding so in the next weeks he occupied Paris so that the two could be married on what remained of the Eiffel tower.

The Hannoveraner succession
It was now that things went quickly, in the following years Bryan conquered the rest of western germany and swiss while Hannover took Denmark and western Poland.

But six years after the marriage, two years after their first child Hans was born, Wilhelm died, Saxon assassins finally managed to kill him, poisoning his beer. All territory fell to Julliette and her husband King Bryan who now took lordship over the territory and changed his name to von Friently-Hannover.
In revenge he sacked the region the Assassins came from, killing many innocents after which he swore he would not kill and conquer anymore.

Fortification of peace
So instead Bryan fortified the borders separating Friently from the Southern French wilderness to the west, the Alps to the south and the entire eastern front where the most skirmishes took place.
He rebuilt part of the roads which had been largely overgrown throughout the years and sent out scouts to find smaller, still undiscovered groups of people living in forests away from everything.
With the fall of the internet, phone lines, large range radio and basic electricity due to the numerous EMP's, raids and cyber attacks done by nations throughout what was now starting to be called the "war of primitivization".
Thus most communication was down, only short range radio's and letters could be used to lay contact, phones were useless, all fuel sources ran dry long long ago and so humanity had been set back over three hundred years
So Bryan set up a basic network of postal carriages and horseback message delivery services.
With the money people generously donated as a tribute for his actions von Friently started construction on his house in the mountains of Niedersachsen, above Rodenberg which he had wanted to do since he was but a little boy.
Over the course of several months he had it built in the Fachwerkhaus style which he adored much, it wasn't a large house but one he loved and deserved.

The arrival of an important figure
A year later a messenger came to the king and told him that they had encountered a driving vehicle with a couple of armed men on horseback following, he found it hard to believe given that all fuel had run out long ago and that to his knowledge there were only a select important few in the world that still had acces to the immensely rare good.
The king asked what the vehicle looked like and if the messenger was absolutely certain of the reports to which the messenger responded that it was a Mercedes truck with a large box in the back with large glass windows at all sides and that he was would bet his life on the legitimacy of the reports.
The king could not believe it because theres was but one person with such a car and the importancy to get fuel to run it: the pope.
He called his lieutenant to him and taske dhim with tracking down the group and taking them to Hannover where he had set up his base of operations.

The Birth of an Empire
Four days later he returned to Hannover but without the car for it had run dry of fuel, sitting behind him one other than the pope of the Catholic church.
The pope explained that he had to flee the St Peter's because of raider groups advancing in rome with his swiss guard unable to keep them at bay much longer, he had heard stories of a nation in the North that had taken much of Germany and northern France and decided it was worth the risk if it meant the safety of his holyness.
Even though Bryan wasn't a religious man he decided to help the pope and give him a mansion to live in, this also secured more support for him from the catholic population, it was smaller than the pope was used to but he decided to make the best of it anyway.
Three months later the king recieved a summon from the pope to come to Hannover to the St Marien church.
Once there the church was surrounded by thousands of people inside and outside, inside a beautifully engraved and decorated chair was set up on the stage and he was asked to sit down on it, at first he thought that the pope was going to baptize him but was he wrong.

The church and surroundings went quiet as the pope walked onto the stage followed by a lackey holding a pillow with on it a crown.
"In these last few months have i asked and listened about the things you have done, what you did for the people of this nation. You have created order and stability where none was found, you have given me shelter even though you are not a believer. Your people are excited and happy when asked about you.

And that is why i, as my pedecessors did hundreds of years before me, with the praise of God bestow upon you His blessing and crown you, Bryan von Friently-Hannover to be the first Emperor of Friently, long life to you! Rise and greet your people" he said and as he placed the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire on his head a thunderous applause arose throughout the church and its surroundings.

And thus, the Empire of Friently was born!

A hundred year old vehicles
The next years were spent rebuilding infrastructure in the Empire, transportation had to be re-established, old steam locomotives were put back into service and new ones were made to replace the now useless electric trains.
It was in 2037 that an old friend of the Emperor, by the name of Ruben Beardshave came to visit him, he had an idea.
The Emperor went to school with him and knew that Ruben always was a fanatic of planes and air related things and he came with the idea to use zeppelins as transportation, he had graduated his study of planes and knew how to design them.
After thinking about it for some time the Emperor agreed and tasked Ruben with building 3 zeppelins, one from Hannover to Paris, one from Hannover to Amsterdam and one from Hannover to Copenhagen.
2 years later, in 2039 they were finished, the designs were a bit crude, small and they left a long smoke trail due to them being powered by steam turbines instead of gas turbines but they worked. It was once again possible to fly to your destination without the possibility of being robbed on the road.
The Emperor was satisfied by the airships and a few months later he summoned Ruben Beardshave to his palace and tasked him with building Five more, one for each line and 2 on the route Hannover-Berlin.

The Commonwealth assault
Several months later a messenger came to the Emperor with reports of hostilities on the eastern border, an organised military group was attacking the Empire east of Berlin and had had already taken the border city of Landsberg.
The Emperor pondered for a bit then ordered the zeppelins and trains to be recalled, converted for military use, to transport the militia to the front and set up defences around Berlin. He also ordered Berlin and the surrounding towns to be evacuated.
He called his military staff, sad goodbye to his wife and son and set out for Hannover where he would get on one of the zeppelins to lead his troops from the air.
A week later the zeppelins were converted and transported a lot of the troops to the front.
The conversion removed the chairs, increased the cargohold and placed several machinegun emplacements along the hull.
The Emperor and his staff got on one and moved out.
In a weeks time the attacking group called "The Commonwealth" penetrated deeper and deeper into eastern Germany and were now in the outskirts of Berlin.

The tide turns
They arrived in Berlin after a 3 hours flight and could immediately hear the fighting going on, from what they could see the Commonwealth had several steam powered armored vehicles and were well equipped with a lot of Artillery pounding the city to bits and over the course of days the soldiers had to clear building by building, street by street and the fighting slogged on for well over two weeks with Friently Morale dwindling by the minute.
The Emperor thought long and hard on a way to turn the tide until he got an idea, he ordered the bridges over the Spree to be blown up so that the only way for the Commonwealth soldiers to cross was over the bridges that remained. He ordered all his troops to retreat in the dead of night and dig in on the west side of the river at the Bode musee, here was the least cover on the east side and the least on the west side.
He let one of his men, a polish loyalist and a master lockpick by the name of Ryon Spyker "accidentally" be captured by Commonwealth troops who questioned him on everything, he convinced them that the bridges were going to blow so that the Friently Militia could pull back and set up defences in Potsdam and Oranienburg.

As they were told the bridges blew, except for one, a wide railroad bridge, assuming it was too strong to get destroyed and wanting to seize the opportunity they moved out immediately, not expecting anything they moved across the bridge en masse, wanting to catch up with the Militia.
But as the first vehicles neared the other side of the bridge they suddenly bursted ino flames having been hit by a couple of anti tank launchers, and windows opened revealing their perfectly placed machineguns.
And before they knew it the bridge was a slaughterhouse, hundreds if not thousands died in the first seconds, completely surprised the Commonwealth high command ordered their men to attack.
In all the commotion Ryon managed to free himself from his cell, incapacitate a guard and use his weapon to kill high command and use their radio to contact the Emperor and his staff, the Emperor told him to relay the coordinates N52*31*20,65 E13*23*68,65 to the Commonwealth artillery which immidiately began to fire countless shells... straight into their own lines.
The zeppelins circled around and kept firing on the nearly defenceless enemy down below. After several hours the Commonwealth force was bled to death and the zeppelins now went after the artillery positions where they fired at anything moving until nothing moved but a white flag when suddenly a missile was fired from the ground, firing straight into a hydrogen pocket of one of the zeppelins, which instantly bursted into flames, crashing to the ground, killing everyone on board. After which consequently the place the missile came from was obliterated by machinegun fire.

The Emperor was impressed by the effectivity of the zeppelins in combat but was dissapointed by how fragile they were and how easy they were to shoot down, multiple small bullet holes raptured the bags of the other zeppelins and they were slowly losing lift.
So he ordered Ruben to make several armored, better armed and better protected zeppelins for military use, which he set off to work on immediately exclaiming that this was where he was waiting for.
In the next month the territory was retaken and the borders better fortified, the emperor had no doubt that this wasn't the last they would see from the Commonwealth.
The militia made it but they were in terrible shape, lost many good men. This is why the Emperor invested a lot of money and time into laying the foundation of a specialized military, the Wehrmacht.
Might not be much, but it's something

Mod hat on: As this pertains to Real World events, I feel this post may be better suited to the Non-Eras subforum. The North Pacific's Roleplay Scene takes place on a fictitious planet referred to as Eras, which does not contain EU, the US, Russia, China, etc. This post will be moved.
