Gravedigging

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of gravedigging- whether it be old RP threads or old political parties that are now defunct. I was wondering what the community thought about this.

In addition, I'd like to propose that if a thread isn't posted on for 6 months, it becomes locked; but can be unlocked at request of the OP.

I suppose it depends on the contents of the gravedig. An update to an old thread which has pertinent information to it is permissible, in my opinion.

Also, whose job is it going to be to go through the 17,500 topics on this forum and close the outdated ones?

far easier just to slap a gravedigger on the wrist occasionally and tell them not to do it again. On the list of obnoxious behaviour on the forum it is well down the league.

Most gravedigging is by new and enthusiastic players rummaging through the forum and posting randomly. they learn soon enough.

Gravedigging has never bothered me. If people post in a dead thread won't the community just ignore it and move on?

i've never understood the harm of gravedigging.
