The San Miguel Media Institute is the largest not for profit media organisation in Tolima. It operates out of the city of San Miguel as a source of on the spot and investigative reporting, as well as producing educational and biographical materials for both education providers and media organisations. The SMMI has been run by a board of directors since its foundation over 60 years ago, and Rodrigo Alves is the current Editor-in-Chief.
