"The Syrixian Empire is an island nation containing its home island, also known as Syrixia, as well as the last vestige of its old colonial empire to the north; the former colony-now-province of Janapadha, bordering Ceretis. Its government is based in the city of Pataliputra, the largest city in the country. The country has many cities; as Syrixian culture is very hardworking and industrious. Syrixia's GDP is one of the largest in the world, and along with its military, Syrixia is a known world power, and the strongest state in the Phoenix Strait geographic area.
Syrixia is a semi-absolute monarchy. Local elected governors represent the people of each province before the Emperor, who presides over a Council of these governors, known as the Grand Parishad. The Grand Parishad is an advisory body, however, and the Emperor has ultimate authority and total real power in the country. The Emperor is the supreme commander of the army and the decider of foreign policy. The Governors can create local policy for their provinces but the Emperor has full authority to overrule anything they enact.
The Imperial Family plays a very ceremonial role, excluding the Emperor himself. The Crown Prince spends his days studying the arts, sciences and other academics, as well as seeing the world. This is because tradition dictates that if the Emperor leaves the country, Syrixia will fall. However, this tradition does not forbid the Emperor from visiting Janapadha or any other territories of the Empire that are not the main island itself. As for the other children of the Emperor, they are traditionally married off to foreign royalty, however in recent times Emperor Rajesh III has legalized the ability of Imperial Family members to marry commoners.
The rights of Syrixians are complicated. The entire nation is at the Emperor's will; and under the conservative father of Rajesh III, Rahul II, communism itself was declared illegal in the Empire. However, under Rajesh III, many more rights have been given to the people. Sibling and cousin marriages are legal, and marriage is legal for all sexual orientations. Infact, Empress Vidya, Rajesh's wife, is his cousin. However, illegal drug use is strictly prohibited and strict penalties are enforced if a Syrixian is found in unlawful possession of drugs. Rakanism also plays a key role, however it is mostly unchanged. The only change is that when a Guru-Baba ascends to the Heavenly See, they lose their name. The current Guru-Baba, the 345th Guru-Baba, is known amongst the people as "The Fat One" while his predecessor was known as "The Grumpy One"."
