The nation nominated for commendation is lauded for its diplomatic prowess and involvement in developing and "revitalizing" several regions over the years. In our view the list contains many regions that have either failed to withstand the test of time or are too new to merit the level of recognition that this resolution would confer upon them, and therefore serve to extend what would otherwise be a much smaller list of achievements. The resolution goes on to refer to the target nation as an "irreplaceable keystone of the world" and cite their work to repair relations between 10000 Islands and The Rejected Realms. This has not been the case as it relates to The North Pacific, as the nation in question encouraged division and strife between this region and others by misrepresenting the circumstances leading to the closure of one of our embassies. Even after this closure was explained, Benevolent Thomas failed to correct the record and allowed a false and damaging narrative to continue unabated. This behavior is not becoming of a diplomat or a nation that would be honored for outstanding service in the pursuit of peace and goodwill in the world. Some might argue that one incident is not enough to negate a list of accomplishments and good deeds. It is in fact these smaller, intimate moments when few are watching that true character can be discerned.

For these reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs encourages a vote against the resolution.

I think McMaster's post in the debate thread hits the nail on the head quite well. It seems...a little... petty? to deny this based just on that one interaction with us. It appears to me that his success in various regions is being highly overstated and his attitude towards those who disagree with him is poor. And thus it's those reasons why the incident with the embassy is so significant - because he's not that spectacular a player to start with.

Essentially my point is that we should spend a few moments in this recommendation picking apart more of the proposal itself rather than justifying why the only thing that matters is one bad incident with ourselves.

For example:

The nation nominated for commendation is lauded for its diplomatic prowess. The resolution goes on to refer to it as an "irreplaceable keystone of the world" and cite their work to repair relations between 10000 Islands and The Rejected Realms. He's lauded for multiple positions, several of which appear to just laud him for holding the position at all. This has not been the case as it relates to The North Pacific, as the nation in question encouraged division and strife between this region and others by misrepresenting the circumstances leading to the closure of our embassy.

(And a few more changes, perhaps, but I'm not going to allow my wonky dyslexic grammar to screw your nice writing up too much.)

If I had more time last night I absolutely would have incorporated McMasterdonia's arguments. I was uncomfortable with only having one argument (I had to pare it down from some less than appealing points as it was) and would be glad to adjust it. Look out for the next draft in a few hours when I get home.

The draft has been edited again. I wanted to add the fact that the resolution does not really include items that are equal in importance and serve to pad the commendation. Thank you to McMasterdonia for outlining several good examples. We may list them specifically if you guys think that's a good idea, but I think it reads fine as is.
