The city of 'Cote d'Azur' is a well loved destination,
especially in winter, sitting along the warm waters
of the Phoenix Strait. The large natural harbor has
made this city an important trade port for both
industry and cruise ships. With the construction of
more modern docking facilities elsewhere in the
city's harbor, 'old port' now serves as home to
restaurants, offices, bars, hotels, homes, and a
sizable private marina. The abundant fishing waters
nearby provide the city's open air markets a wide
bounty of somewhat warmer water fish resulting in
a slightly different seafood cuisine than the rest of
the northern Kingdom Republic and gives rise to the
popular seafood diets of the area. With such a large
harbor, the city is home to many private boats both
foreign and domestic.

One of the most recognizable landmarks in the entire Kingdom Republic, Mont Saint-Jean (MSJ) is an island commune in Sanctifie, Ceretis. Located about one-third mile off the country's central northern coast at the mouth of the Elloan river near Ollve; The island is 100 hectares (247 acres) in size and has a population of 788.

'The Mont' is the religious center of the Kingdom Republic, and site of the Cathedral of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of St. Jean, Royal Chapel, and site of Mont-Saint-Jean Abbey. The current head of the diocese is the 81st Metropolitan Cardinal Archbishop of Mont-Saint-Jean, Quentin Ouvrard.

Originally constructed in the 8th century by the Oleanders as a refuge against the Foxek invasions of Ceretis, the site gradually expanded. Its unique position — on an island just 600 meters from land — made it accessible at low tide to the many pilgrims and refugees to its fortress and abbey, but defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off, or drowned would-be assailants. In the 12th century the Abbey was greatly expanded as the remains of St. John the Evangelist were recovered from Ephesus prior to the capture and eventual destruction of the Basilica in Ephesus. Numerous relics as well have collected at the site due to its fortified nature including the Crown of Thorns. For both historical and religious reasons, the site is an important pilgrimage visited by over 5 million annually.

Originally the site of Straathgard Palace, the seat of the crown, was the monarch's principal residence as of 906 AD. Over time various heads of the Curia Regis's ministries (Royal Council), and legislatures, working close with the crown set up offices in the palace complex with their administrative offices soon following. Although the Curia followed the King when he moved to other palaces, the vast majority of the time this site has served as the 'heart of Ceretian politics' as its location was in close proximity to many other palaces used from that time forward.

Perched atop a tall cape overlooking the Menominee River, the site is afforded a spectacular view for several miles. The original palace (at the time not the primary royal residence) and several buildings on the site suffered significant damage 06 September 1577 due to a fire originating in the Offices of the Exchequer (Treasury.) Plans for reconstruction of more 'durable' materials were drawn up, and the present Straathgard Castle began construction the following year. The present castle is a form of Renaissance architecture based on the great Chateaus of the Lopan Valley.

Currently, Straathgard Castle and its campus are the site of much of the capital's administrative functions and offices for various senior members of government.

The Republic Capitol, often called the Capitol Building, Capitol Hill, or National Congress of Ceretis, is the home of the Congress of the Ceretian Republic, and the seat of the legislative branch. It sits atop Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall surrounded by Capitol park in Sion, a popular urban nature park. The Capitol overlooks Lake Wobegon, one of the headwaters of the Menominee River.

As administrative needs expanded over the years, space in the Straathgard Castle complex grew ever more cramped near to the point of inefficiency. Thus in the summer of 1955, during one of the nations Civilian Conservation Corp work programs, work began on new government buildings including the new legislative complex as well as the surrounding Capitol Park.

Officially known as Support Facility 40, it is technically a military installation, staffing is primarily provided by the Ceretian Royal Navy and Ceretian Marine Corps.

Consuls have made varied use of the facility over the years from planning discussions with the royal family to a holiday retreat. The site has been used extensively for leisure and even some official business including economic summits and on more than one occasion a neutral site for peace negotiations.

Imperial Treasury of Ceretis - Exchequer Commission Building, Sion

The Exchequer Commission Building in Sion, is a National Historic Landmark building and the headquarters of the Imperial Treasury of Ceretis. Originally the Imperial Treasury was headquartered in Straathgard Castle with several buildings around the city housing additional functions. Growing demands upon the Treasury and increasing inefficiency resulting from a decentralized structure began to show starting around the 1900s with ever growing support each year to centralize the treasury functions.

With the start of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at the start of 1920 as a means to 'give youth purpose, confidence, and opportunity so the nation may have a brighter future', and the Governmental Reorganization Act of 1924, the cause for the new complex succeeded. The Imperial Treasury made its case to the CCC in early 1925 and after much discussion and planning, ground was finally broken in April of 1926 and by 1928 was completed.

The resulting building took a much cleaner, sleeker, exterior design than most government buildings, but would certainly not be devoid of ornamentation as the CCC would be recognized for its inclusion of artwork in its projects.

View inside one of the repository vaults below Exchequer Commission Building.

Underneath the Exchequer Commission Building lies one of the primary vaults used to store a large portion of the Kingdom Republic's official precious reserves and other similarly precious items belonging or entrusted to the government. The vault rests on bedrock some 160 feet below street level and is protected by significant security measures as well as the Mint Police. The vault holds various stores of precious materials that make up the 'basket' of precious items that back the Ceretian Orichalcum including Rubys, Emeralds, Fire Opals, Alexandrite, Grandidierite, Sapphire, Red Diamonds, Taaffeite, Rhodium, Platinum, Osmium, Palladium, Silver, Orichalcum, and Gold. While the exact quantities of materials stored fluctuate, to give an idea of the size of the repository, the Treasurer reports that In particular, the vault in Sion contains in excess of 36,200 tonnes of Silver, 58,750 tonnes of Orichalcum, and 32,100 tonnes of Gold

Among the contents of the vaults are some of the crown jewels of the Tsar, and those of some former kingdoms absorbed into the nation over the many centuries. As well there are valuables held in safekeeping for various friends and allies of the Kingdom Republic whom are experiencing turmoil and wish to safeguard their treasured historic assets. Other important items include copies of the Ceretis Act, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Statute of Straathgard, Caliburn (sword), Spear of Longinus, the Three Sacred Treasures of Nio Jiua-kon, the Book of Amun-Ra and the Book of the Dead among other items are all kept within the Treasury.

Deslys Complex - Department of Economy and Finance, Sion

With the ever-growing economic and financial responsibilities placed on the Treasury, new regulatory oversight, as well as needs to house ever-changing technologies, Treasury officials recognized the needed to expand their facilities further. Luckily they were able to acquire a parcel of land near the existing treasury building site. Over the years they have built a series of five additional buildings that are all interconnected, each named after a key figure from the Treasury's history.

The Deslys Complex itself was named after Matthieu Deslys, Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1983 to 2006 who oversaw one of the largest expansions of the Ceretian economy while modernizing Treasury operations. Though officially known as the Deslys Complex, it is commonly referred to by the public and media as 'The Arsenal' as it was built on the former site of the Fouquet Arsenal. At times it is referred to as 'Fort Arsenal' because of its use of high walls in places, boxy architectural style, and security grids. The whole (new) complex covers about 56.8 acres (230,000m2). The building extends to the river, where there is an embarcadero with fast river boats for rapid transit to other government agencies as well as a helipad on the roof and a connecting tunnel to the Exchequer Commission Building.

The Deslys Complex handles much of the national government's taxation and tariff matters, economic and financial concerns; from policy creation, to assisting in law formation, monetary collection, budgets, disbursement, governmental efficiency inquiries, regulatory matters, audits, and more.

The Imperial Treasury of Ceretis, is responsible for printing all paper currency and mints all coins in circulation through the Department of Engraving and Printing and the Ceretian Mint, respectively; collects all national taxes through the Revenue Service; manages government debt instruments; licenses and supervises banks and thrift institutions; and advises the Crown and Republic governmental agencies on matters of fiscal policy. The treasury is the government department responsible for developing and executing public finance and economic policy.

The Imperial Treasury is headed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who is a member of the Conseil du Roi (Royal Council) and Conseil d'Etat (Council of State/Executive Cabinet), Senior Advisor to the Chancellor is the Treasurer of the Kingdom-Republic. Signatures of both officials appear on all Legal Tender Notes such as the Ceretian Orichalcum. (ORM).
