So, for the past few days there has been a lot of inactivity here in the RP subforum. And while I think the Worldbuilding Convention is promising, I think the reason for this inactivity is the concept of the story arc. They're just dragging on too long, and people are losing inspiration and interest.

So I had an idea. A new, fresh idea. Something that'd get everyone talking, and create the RP of the century.

Asteroid ----> Eras. Collision course.

Thoughts? Could we do this?
 
I don't think that's the problem with the story arc. It's more that people view conflict in Rp as only achievable through warfare. Grim and I both have final assessments and exams, so the political crisis RP has slowed because of that.

I don't think I'll participate in the asteroid RP.
 
I didn't say we were going to do such an RP; it was a proposed idea. Still, I will give you that about warfare. In fact, that's why I came up with the idea of an asteroid RP, so we could: 1) establish a sort of worldwide NASA, and 2) learn what the term international coalition to save the damn world means.
 
I know it's just an idea, just probably not my sort of thing right now :P

An International Space Station/NASA Thing would be cool. Shame all the space scientists like Egalotir and such have left now :(
 
The only problem with this is that it fails to solve the problem that the most popular second choice to "let's start a war!" around here is "let's form an international organization!"
 
Yeraennus just has no land area that would support a space center and launch pad. We have to use what little in the way of ground technology to view outer space.
 
I should also mention that we had that space/science centre in McMasterdonia and all the scientists were just about murdered :P

Not sure it is a great time for the science industry xD
 
Well, not astronomy and astrophysics, at least. Nuclear Power study and Robotics are happening in my country.
 
Norvalkin is, for all intents and purposes, a futurist's dream. Computers control or oversee a good portion of everyday life, and we focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and promote green energy. We did have a rocket launch, years ago, but it didn't go so well. (For those interested, look up the Challenger disaster) We're willing to give it the old college try, though. Norvalkin International Airport can be reconfigured to handle a shuttle launch, but it'll take a day or two. Everything's modular, so we're good otherwise.
 
Ok, so we have a launch. What about the asteroid? Would we be able to incorporate that? Maybe we could do some sort of thing like the movie Armageddon? Where they send up a guy to get rid of the asteroid?
 
Wolfsea has a space station but it's purely for military operation and controlling our satellite defences. Also Guslantis was preparing for a launch prior to the Vega incident. I think people are just too busy more than a lack of interest.

Only in the fantasy setting would that be a thing. For the normal setting, try a plausible idea. :P
