A Unified Currency

After getting a idea from two member states in the regional chat, and discussing it a little there I have decided to see how many people wish to create a international currency sort of like the euro. Except there is a requirement, your nation can must be Average or higher to be able to join. We don't want a "Greece" in this alliance. The direct name of the currency and economic alliance (if a economic alliance is agreed to be implemented) will be decided once we have at least 5 states willing to accept these terms. If a alliance is accepted the terms will be very basic. If your economy goes below average you have a 2 weeks to get it to average or above. If you fail to meet these requirements by the time given you will be removed from the alliance. You can join once again after you have gotten to average or above and kept it at Average or above for 3 days. You can join unlimited number of times unless the the group as a whole votes you out. The idea is still in the beta stage so I'm unsure how it will all work out but I enjoy seeing your wonderful ideas and hopefully this will become a great alliance within the union. Bye

I'll move this to the lounge than and if anyone has any questions about this than they are welcome to ask me. Like I said I only have the base idea so it will be crafted by the members so if all goes well there shouldn't be to many problems if it's made by the people who are going to be using it. As for the term, "Greece" I mean countries that are either bordering on the brink of economic collapse or are down the path to it. I say sort of like the euro because the Euro is the best example of how the currency is to run. What the countries want the value and other things to be depends on what people decide.

Well lets write up something about this.

The Euro exists are a subset of the European Union, while not the most powerful of political unions, it nevertheless is a political union and it allows a common currency. No such political union exists that encompasses all of the North Pacific, only some alliances (which are not political unions) exist. You could form such form of North Pacific Union and then push some form of common currency into their platform. You won't get to much participation in a union like this though, the nations of TNP are too diverse and don't share common heritage like those in the European Union.Along with multiple nations not wanting to adopt a foreign currency, because circumstance of the currency may not favour them.

If you seek to exclude nations that have weak economies, you further lower the number of nations in your union and the less nations in the union the less the benefit for joining is. It is a cool idea and you could try RPing a union, but it doesn't seem too feasible.

I tried this with the Pacifia but it failed.

I remain totally against the idea of a unified currency. This was discussed before in Sytarenne's Pacifia thread; I urge those who did not witness it to peruse that thread and find out for yourselves why a unified currency is a TERRIBLE idea.

If economic situations are stressed to the point of falling below the threshold of this alliance, it is doubtful two weeks would be enough time to solve the underlying issues. Also , who would join such a group, when it would kick you out if you got into financial troubles? I mean, you have an economic collapse, and the first thing you need to do is create an entirely new currency, and get it into circulation in two weeks...

A unified currency in a region with the Avelocci's is a bad idea. Bad idea.
