Wolfsea 2015

The clang of Cookware, the cheer of the crowds, it’s time for this years IPFC World Cup! Hosted in its inaugural year by the Imperial Military Khanate of the Kingdom of Wolfsea, 7 nations are sending their best Pan-Fighters to participate in this tournament of champions, competing to be the first recipients of this beautiful trophy and the honour of hosting next years event.

The matches will take place in the Crescentmaw Indoor Arena over the coming few weeks with the opening ceremony taking place on Monday the 13th of July.

Pan Fighting is an immensely popular sport, with thirty two teams (one for each major city, minus Port Vlamia) competing against each other in the Professional Xentheridan Pan Fighting Cup. There are two stages; firstly, is the "main" season. This runs from the first Thursday in February to the third Monday in September. Each team plays thirty two matches over the same number of weeks, with four matches per day, from Thursday to Monday. They are then sorted on the ladder via "points" (3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss). Then, the sixteen highest teams on the ladder are selected to be a part of the "finals" season. This runs from . Each team is randomly selected to play against another in the "first" stage. The winners then play against another randomly selected winner, while the losers out of the season. eventually, this continues until it finally culminates into the Grand Final, in which the trophy - known as the "Cast-Gold Frying Pan" - is given to the winning team. The Grand Final is always held in Blackwater City's enormous stadium, which can hold upwards of 75,000 people.

To play in the Professional Xentheridan Pan Fighting Cup, one needs intensive amounts of training. Indeed, most clubs don't accept anyone who hasn't trained in fencing, martial arts or other related sports for less than two years. In fact, the current winners - The Marcadia Strikers - have a team who have a total training time of seventeen years between the three of them. And even then, only the most experienced of the three has been accepted to join the Xentheridan Smashers.

The armour used is a titanium-carbon (graphene) hybrid, while the weapons are made from a comfortable leather grip, with a eighteen inch titanium-stainless steel disc.

Oh goodness, I'm against you, Wolfsea. I'm doomed. :P

The Sadakhan team is taking the field in suits adapted from standard-issue military armor. The suit consists of light, flexible plates of laminated layers of Kevlar, titanium scales, and a tough but yielding chitinous material produced with genetically engineered bacterial mats.

The Sadakhan team is armed with custom octagonal-rimmed cast iron pans hand-worked by students from the Brooks Academy of Cultural Anthropology, who have recently opened a blacksmith shop on their campus. The pans feature a "hand and a half" full tang handle sheathed in cultured bamboo and wrapped with engineered silk cord.

This event is the first formal competition for the Sadakoyama team.​

Armor and Pans: Inisqimaan Incorporated, one of Syrixia's most powerful private companies, is cooperating with the SPL and the Syrixian government to create state-of-the-art pans and armor for the IFPC World Cup. The armor, known as FlexiArmor, is aptly named. It is made with the toughest, most resilient materials Syrixia can get her hands on, while also adding a flexible inner part of the suit underneath- making for flexible yet very resilient armor. Syrixia's pans have been battle-tested by some of the SPL's greatest panfighters, and tirelessly improved on over and over again. The Dreadnoughts' pans are made of some of the toughest materials out there; with strong, comfortable hilts to boot, sporting twin blades on either side as decoration.
