Whenever I log onto IRC (using the button at the top of this forum), I log in for a while, then I get a bright red screen with the following message:

[bgcolor=#ee4a2d]
The site ahead contains harmful programs

Attackers on s.ato.mx might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience (for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit).
Automatically report details of possible security incidents to Google. Privacy policy.[/bgcolor]

Anyone know why, and what is wrong?

I recommended in IRC that Flem scan his computer for viruses. It might be redirecting you to some site, and Google blocks it by default. It's not necessarily the issue, but it's a good place to start.

That is a google message. Is there a 'more details' button/link?

It is that sort of thing that led me years ago to stop using IRC. I vigorously use antivirus and computer security software, but it cannot always prevent trojans from being installed, it can only find and remove them afterwards. IRC was the worse offender. My computer security software has far less intrusions and viruses to address since I adopted this practice.
