Following the defeat of the Order of the Loyal, the reunification of Rhuvanland and the ending of the crisis, the government of the Most Serene Republic of Syrixia would like to propose to the international community the creation of an International Day of Peace.

In three days, on June 21, the Summer Solstice, the shining light of the Sun will shine its longest and summer- a season of fun, memories and freedom, will be ushered in. We believe this is the best day for the International Day of Peace. On this day, peace and happiness would be celebrated worldwide. Conflicts would stop on that day and people would try to be kind, tolerant and respectful toward one another. While ideally this value should be promoted every day, on Peace Day these values should become the most apparent. Along with this day, going from 12:00 PM to 12:01 PM, there should also be a moment of silence. The rest of the day should be a conflictless festival stretching worldwide- celebrating peace, happiness, kindness, etc.

(PS: It's based on this: http://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/)

The Leadership of the Nation of Nierre would question whether the Most Serene Republic has the legitimacy with which to propose an international day of peace on a day that was most certainly not peaceful.

Days of peace should commemorate an event of peace, not one of violence such as military or police actions.

We would like to note:

1. As said before, the day would not be today but on the 21st.

2. Today was an important day for peace as the conflicts against the Order ended and peace resumed, along with Rhuvish reunification a couple days earlier.

The Leadership of the Nation of Nierr would question whether the Most Serene Republic has the legitimacy with which to propose an international day of peace due to them being the primary cause of conflict within the international community.

It occurs to the Leadership of the Nation of Nierr that the Most Serene Republic is a nation that in word and action is conflicting with the notion of peace on either a national or international scale.

Further to this, the Leadership of the Nation of Nierr would further point out that many nations within the international community already exist in peace for most or all of the year, and as such probably do not need to act as the Most Serene Republic's crutch.

Not only does the Most Serene Republic find this offensive but incorrect. Syrixia has been working towards peace by finding and defeating the extremist terrorist order known as the Order of the Loyal, as well as helping to reunify Rhuvanland after an economic crisis and subsequent invasion by the militant group Brigade 2056. While Syrixia has indeed had a hand in recent conflicts, it has also been working hard to resolve them in the interest of peace and has recently been able to do so. So, one may say, by helping to resolve these conflicts the Most Serene Republic has much legitimacy indeed to propose such a holiday.

But this is not about Syrixia; it is about the international community itself. Indeed, most North Pacific nations are mostly in peace, however it is because of that that the notion of peace is taken for granted. When comparing the recent conflicts, and indeed ALL conflicts, to the state of peace, peace is much more preferable and happy. It is this that must be celebrated; especially in a place such as TNP. We are lucky to have such peace, so why not celebrate it in a festival uniting the region in happiness and jubilation? Such a notion of seeing that as bad or useless is quite odd.

Xentherida supports this idea, and has a few ideas to contribute. It could also be a day to commemorate specific victories over forces of evil -especially the victory over the Order of the Loyal- and the remembrance of various treaties, peace conferences and other diplomatic agreements.
It could also be a day in which diplomacy is thoroughly pursued, in order to keep the peace, and prevent the outbreak of war. After all, poor relations and unfounded suspicions are the cornerstones for creating a conflict.

Cronaal supports such idea but will, however celebrate it differently if passed., a minute of silence shall be given at midday to mourn Eden Hall.

I like the idea of a multi-commemoration day. Maybe there is a designated moment of peace where any (major) conflicts ending in the last year are announced and a bell is struck for each event. (Like when names are remembered; the name is spoken, bell is struck, moment, repeat with next - until the list is complete.)

This sounds wonderful!

I guess that would work but it's noting every conflict. Perhaps we should focus on two major conflicts of the year and discuss their ending and the impact on peace?

If only two are featured, I'd like to nominate New Sekai's revolution and the Eknorve Civil War-Guslantis Front, if that is still canon (OOC: Cronaal?)

Actually, that is a good question. The Eknorve Civil War was pretty crucial history-wise. Perhaps Cronaal could bend the tale of the War to include his reworked material? Maybe the last King of Cronaal before Diana could take the place of Jok'mey dos Kahn, and that's why he stepped down.

Also, if we're talking big conflicts, obviously Rhuvanland is on the list.

Yeah, sorry, it's not canon anymore. It's just too out-there and I feel it shouldn't have happened. It was also just too much for me to take in one bite with things such as armies and language etc. so I just rebooted my nation to something I understood and something I could do without confusion all the time. I apologise ;c

Then what is canon? My nation is in pieces. What is the canon explanation?

I don't think a specific discussion on this matter is germane, however perhaps we can talk about it after we finalize Peace Day. We can keep amending it as we go, however is everyone in for the first Peace Day in two days?

I thought the canon was some event with Zemnaya.

That was, the Schnellerkrieg, was much earlier, but perhaps we can incorporate it. But I (really we) digress.

Besides El Skeptico, what do you all think about the adoption of Peace Day? Should we adopt it or not?

Wow, Syrixia knows his Guslant history. Yes, I believe Guslantis would be honored to see the Schnellerkrieg be featured on this day of peace, since NPTO became its ultimate closure:

  • Guslantis wants to expand.
  • Guslantis opens Treaty of Pigletville.
  • Guslantis declares war on Zemnaya Svoboda.
  • Guslantis loses epically, and is forced to sign a treaty similar to the Treaty of Versailles.
  • Guslantis falls into an almost anarchist state, and public opinion of the government is terrible.
  • Guslantis falls out of The North Pacific's realm.
  • The Second Treaty of Pigletville is proposed, revoking the first.
  • NPTO is formed by members of the STOP.
  • NPTO Charter is written, further securing the language adopted in both treaties.

So far we have the following conflicts, ordered in amount of importance.

1. The Schnellerkrieg
Resolution: Ratification of the Second Treaty of Pigletville
Final Ending: Foundation of NPTO

2. The Rhuvanland Crisis
Resolution: Kannexo-Syrixian Rhuvish Reunification Treaty
Final Ending: Defeat of the Order of the Loyal

3. The Syrixian Civil War/Nebulan Invasion
Resolution: Government and Rebels both turning against and repelling the Nebulans
Final Ending: Treaty of Balamb

4. The New Sekaian Civil War
Resolution: Ceasefire Agreement
Final Ending: Könighafen Conference

More than that- we should make an IC social networking app where our leaders or just citizens can casually chat. Then, on Peace Day, we can get #RIPeden trending.

We need a TNP Chat App now, make sure to release it on the windows phone app store.

HAPPY PEACE DAY! What should we do today? I was thinking we could do it in Cronaal and merge it with Eden Hall's funeral.

I just want to note that while the Confederation acknowledges an international Day of Peace, the Estate will not endorse it due to the conflict of interest arising from the celebration of Litha / Midsummer, also called the Summer Solstice.

What is Litha about? Perhaps you could incorporate peace and Peace Day into Litha? Or maybe celebrate them at once?

From my nation's Calendar and Holiday Factbook page (http://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=334121)

Litha / Midsummer / Summer Solstice
The gardens are blooming, and summer is in full swing. Fire up the barbecue, turn on the sprinkler, and enjoy the celebrations of Midsummer! Also called Litha, this summer solstice Sabbat honors the longest day of the year. Take advantage of the extra hours of daylight and spend as much time as you can outdoors. There are many different ways you can celebrate, but the focus is always on celebrating the power of the sun. It's the time of year when the crops are growing heartily and the earth has warmed up. We can spend long sunny afternoons enjoying the outdoors, and getting back to nature under the long daylight hours.

We are celebrating peace day by a moment of silence, encouraging conflict resolution today, and at night by a festival.

Kalti- That doesn't seem like a conflict of interest to me. You can just celebrate them simultaneously.

Cronaal- What happened?!

OOC:

Ok, so let's cut the bullshit here.

I was responding entirely ICly to something posted in an IC forum (in case you forgot what IC means, it means in character). Namecalling and your other petty little shit isn't needed here, hell this topic is in entirely the wrong forum it seems because any semblance of IC has just been abandoned.

If you want an RP around negotiating the setting up of an international day of peace you should've posted that here. If you just this ooc crap that doesn't actually contribute to any real RPing in the slightest, then you should've made a topic in the drafting forum.

NPTO HQ
Augustus Town, GU (International Territory)

Outside of the HQ, five army officials stood on a stage behind Leah Charles and the monarchs, in front of a large crowd. Off to the side was Andrea Reeder, who was holding a microphone. "Good afternoon. On November 13th of 2013, our Congress signed a declaration of war. Not for wrong-doing, not for revenge. Out of stupidity. Our then-president, Mr. Hunter Hilley made a treaty he thought he could break. One clouded by the greed for land, and one we will never forget," said Leah Charles into her microphone. "I have with me today, General Jennifer Bjorn, who will be speaking on behalf of the late General Eubanks, who originally planned the two-prong attack on Zemnaya Svoboda along with General Emily Akerman, Jennifer, if you will," she said, handing the microphone to General Bjorn.

"I'm terribly sorry," she said, looking out into the audience. "I'm terribly sorry that our military dragged Guslantis into a war we never wanted. I'm terribly sorry that General Eubanks was shot down over a field in Zemnaya Svoboda, I'm terribly sorry that one of your relatives is not here now because we made a mistake, I'm terribly sorry," she continued as tears ran down her face. "I'm sorry peace meant nothing to us then, I'm sorry that Guslates were wasted on this war, I'm sorry that we were forced to sign up for reparations, I'm sorry," she said, almost on the floor in shame. General Scottsfield placed her hand on Bjorn's shoulder, and helped the crying general up.

"We cannot erase our past. We cannot press the delete button. We can only prepare for the future with the things and people we have now, and we must stand our ground. Our nation will never forget our stupidity, our bravery, and our determination in the Schnellerkrieg, and we will never repeat the actions we did during that time. We are the founding nation of NPTO, and we are devoted to the organization and its success. So, the next time you say to us on Fluttr or use the hashtag, #NPTOsux, you are practically saying #Abigailsux, or #Leahsux, or even #Guslantissux. You have no idea of the hell my nation has been through to get to a point where we can look at the Schnellerkrieg and say we messed up, and even stand here in front of a peace organization's HQ and say, we did that. I don't think any Guslant here thinks that the Schnellerkrieg was in vain. A mistake, yes, in vain, never," said Queen Hilley, smiling.

Andrea Reeder walked toward the front of the stage as the Guslant flag on the HQ was lower to half-staff. "Simul stare ac pugnare," she uttered, before she began to sing the Guslant anthem.

"As I walk through the land,
All the people I do see,
The doctors, the lawyers,
The future leaders to be!
Oh, my nation sings,
of a happy wonderful spring!
My nation, with maroon,
gold, and blue!
Falls into a wonderful dew,
for me and you!"

Peace's day in The United States of New Sekai was a successful despite there were small amount of people tried to disrupted it, however those people are arrested or given up.
