Ladies and gents, it's time yet again to plan for Issue VII of The Northern Lights, with my personal guarantee that we will be actually getting it out this time. Unfortunately, all of the article drafts that were submitted during the two prior planning periods are outdated, so with my apologies to those who wrote them we will be starting from scratch.


This is what I would definitely like to cover in this edition, though I'm also open to suggestions:

Regional News/Commentary
  • Tomb's resignation, the interim, and the election for Delegate. We'll need to treat this delicately and be especially careful not to include information from the private halls of the Regional Assembly. We'll want comment from Tomb, SillyString, and Eluvatar, at a minimum.
  • New Ministers and Eluvatar's plans for the ministries. We'll want to get comment from Eluvatar and one or two ministers.
  • Recent legislation in the Regional Assembly, with particular emphasis on the recent quorum issues. Again, caution not to include information from the private halls.
  • SillyString's advice column.
International News/Commentary
  • News article, not commentary, on the recent invasion of Paradoxia, the early departure, and the controversy surrounding that. We'll want to get comment from Ivo, who was the raider lead; Kazmr, who was recruiting RPers for liberation; and other gameplayers less invested in the outcome, as well as reporting the facts of the invasion and departure.
  • News article on the upcoming Delegate election in The Rejected Realms. We'll want comment from as many candidates are willing to comment, as well as other citizens of The Rejected Realms. They must be notified that they are being asked for comment for The Northern Lights, as with all of our articles.
  • News article on the proposed changes to Balder's legislature. We'll want comment from Delegate Solorni (Rach), Statsminister The Iron Rebel, Eluvatar, and Raven, at a minimum.
  • Interview with Jakker on the upcoming RaiderCon.
Any ideas for anything else?


Please volunteer if you would like to write one or more of these articles, specifying which you would like to write. This will be first come, first served, unless I find a compelling reason someone else should do an article, such as a conflict of interest. I want to have this edition out next week, ideally a week from today.

As a note, I'll cover anything nobody volunteers to write, so if it seems like I'm getting the cushy interview it's just because I want to give people a chance to volunteer for what they'd rather write first. :P

I will seek to write something by Tuesday for you to either use or tell me to adjust :) (I'm not sure what I'll write about).

Since Cormac has resigned, and we are awaiting a new Minister, I resign my volunteering for the article.
 
Hello everyone! I'm your new Minister of Communications! So, I'd like to finish this by the end of June/early July, we need volunteers to cover these articles and for those who have already volunteered, please submit your articles to me soon as a first draft. Thanks a bunch!
