GOVERNMENT NEWS

In the week following an elected senate there is always the not insignificant matter of electing a Speaker. The position has been once again retained by the incumbent Tytor for about the millionth time. He has appointed El Presidente as Deputy Speaker. With the matter of the speaker resolved it is likely new legislation will be presented to the Senate in coming weeks.

Meanwhile the Citizens Assembly has been more active. DaveIronside has presented a bill before it to create a system of military honours and awards. While The Independent Order doesn't tend to do much militarily these would reward those citizens who have contributed their service with shiny medals and pretty ribbons. The matter will be debated for at least three days before being sent off to the Senate if the majority approve.
