OOC: The Physical Democratic Union

Lately, I have been noticing some inactivity in the Democratic Union forums (which, I fully get as I am inactive too). This may be due to the fact that there are only a few sort of things going on here: writing proposals, discussing and debating proposals, and voting. I want to introduce a new category to make the Democratic Union more friendly to those not writing a proposal, discussing one, or voting on one. On the official map of TNP, there is a physical location where the DU is located. Here the meetings take place, representatives represent, and other employees do their work. This is the basis of the Democratic Union Island, right?

The point I'm trying to get across is how little we actually know about the workings of the Democratic Union. We have the actually official positions and such, we know who voted for what, we understand that this nation has this ambassador. What's the point of having a physical location if there is nothing going on that we know about? At least a description would suffice. Perhaps the daily goings following a character. I think this is what the DU needs to keep it interesting without having to read legislation after legislation. Now, I understand that there are numerous other *cough*airplane*cough* roleplays going on, but having one that brings the DU to life is something I would absolutely love to see.

Why is this a good idea? What will this supply to the DU other than a mess? Well, this new concept of roleplay in the DU can help create unique situations which unfold all by themselves (sort of) while making it an enjoyable experience for all parties. This can be a simple conversation between two or more representatives or employees at lunch, or it can be a heated scandal that either makes or breaks a career. This doesn't have to lead to war or civil upheaval, but rather a place to hone in on roleplaying strategies that you wanted to try out or a place just to have a more casual rp (depending on the rp, of course). Another thing, steering away from the character aspect, is the chance to describe the island in depth and detail. This, of course, can be as simple as saying that it is an island with a moderate climate, 4 seasons, a building where the meetings happen, and a cafe. This could also be as intricate as to describe the flora and fauna in the garden lining the pathway to the building, not to mention the entire layout of the building planned as if it would become an actual place.

I'm looking for your opinions on the topic, and what you would like to do/ start off with. Keep in mind this is a concept and almost anything can go here, just as it pertains to the Democratic Union (duh).

Also, sorry if this just takes up space and doesn't belong; I was thinking about putting it into the Drafting Plane but thought it would be read by more DU members here.

I love the idea, it'd be a nice change from constant legislature and voting. It would allow those who are not so interested in those still participate in the DU.
