SillyString will now be offering embassies to our valued friends and tourism partners, in the interest of promoting strong relationships and increased travel opportunities. Please make note of the following information when applying:
Locations
SillyString consists of three main districts, which are designed to cater to different kinds of vacationers. Nations may request embassies in any of these, though the amenities and associated costs will naturally vary.
- Laule'a District: Located on the easternmost side of SillyString, Laule'a is perfect for the more reclusive traveler. Both incurve and outcurve rooms look out over an expansive ocean vista, and the district slumbers quietly at night. Local service is more upscale, and correspondingly more expensive. While water-based forms of travel remain the best way to reach other parts of the island, land-based forms such as walking, biking, or horse-drawn carriage hold less of a disadvantage in Laule'a.
- Hau'oli District: To the west of SillyString is Hau'oli, the island's version of suburbia. It is residential and caters to families, with peaceful, sheltered coves for swimming. Water travel is the most efficient way to get around, and canoes, kayaks, and staffed gondolas are widely available. Services are more laid-back than in Laule'a, with correspondingly lower costs. Hau'oli contains SillyString's primary shipping dock, and near the center of its upper bulb lies the island's endpoint - a very popular tourist destination.
- Maika'i District: In SillyString's southeastern quadrant is Maika'i, a bustling urban area teeming with small shops and kiosks. Nighttime is bright and cheerful, with bars and restaurants staying open into the wee hours of the morning to cater to a younger, more active crowd. Maika'i is significantly less expensive than the other two districts, and is a popular choice among travelers on a budget. Water travel is all but required to get around, and kayaks and canoes come standard with hotel rentals.
SillyString will endeavor to provide lodgings that fit any requested specifications, but we regretfully are unable to build custom buildings. All embassies will be located within existing hotels, and nations have the following options available:
- Exclusive: Nations selecting exclusive embassies will have guaranteed and exclusive access to the entirety of their granted hotel, and may choose to open available rooms to travelers, or not, for whatever price they wish, at their discretion. Please note that nations who choose this option may pocket any profit gained from booking their rooms, though they will be responsible for paying the continued wages of the hotel's employed staff and any necessary upkeep costs. Should the embassy not generate sufficient funds, the nation may choose to convert it into a non-exclusive embassy or may remit a monthly payment to cover the missing income.
- Non-Exclusive: Nations selecting non-exclusive embassies will have permanent access to a selection of rooms within a hotel, for which there will be a modest fee. This fee will be waved on a per-room basis as tourism from that nation reaches certain volume thresholds.
