Let's start a new RP

(Inspired in part by 24, Season 4.) An airSCANDIGRAD flight is hijacked by Cronaalian terrorists. They plan to use its passengers as hostages. Plembobria's Ministry of Internal Security Intelligence Division (MISID) has no idea where it's headed, but a double agent working in the Malvadian embassy does. MISID carries out an unauthorized raid on the embassy and captures him. This triggers tension between the Plembobrian and Malvadian governments. (woohoo!) Malvad threatens some kind of retaliation, but the crisis is ultimately averted.

Cast:
Scandigrad: Pilot, Co-pilot, Flight ops/airSCANDIGRAD corporate
Plembobria: MISID agents, hostages
Cronaal: Hijackers
Malvad: Double agent, Malvadian government
Lord Lore (Andulus): TBA
Egalotir: TBA
Eumenor: Eumenorian hostages, Eumenorian government.

To do:
Lord Lore and Egalotir need to decide on their parts.

Scandigrad and Cronaal need to coordinate how exactly the hijacking is going to happen.

Cronaal and I need to decide who the hostage is, and why the terrorists want him/her.

The hostages are ordinary civilians.

This post will be updated as needed.

Kidnapping of a high-profile official would be a good one. Or maybe a ship or plane hijacking.

McMasterdonia and Malvad have argued over the internal issues before. Malvad is always available for RPs.

I could ask Nasania, but his problems seem a bit different.

My problem was that the Monarch had not called elections, outlawed political parties, that her son was in the process of fleeing the country and her Mother is MIA. :P

I'll think about it and might get in touch with you Malvad.

A war would be interesting, but TNP doesn't have enough jingoistic dictatorships ready to pounce on every nation that bothers them. I guess nobody wants to be "that guy." Consequently we don't have many enemies.

How about the hijacking of a plane holding a high-profile Plembobrian official by some rebel/terrorist group? Anyone interested?

hmm could always throw in a bunch of different high level officials from different countries going to a summit somewhere. Could be fun to watch all the different national agencies and militaries trip over each other or try to work together.

Not big on hijackings, but hey.

Seeing as airSCANDIGRAD is currently the only named airline operating in the North Pacific, I'd love to see it involved... perhaps I could run an airline rep side of things.

Okay. Egalotir and Scandigrad have implied interest in participating.

Question for Egalotir: Are there any Egalotirian rebel or terrorist groups who would have a reason to kidnapp a Plembobrian official? I still haven't come up with who the official is or where they would be going. Any ideas would be helpful.

EDIT: Perhaps the Minister of Customs and Trade, or the Minister of Defense could be going to Egalotir or Scandigrad for some kind of negotiation.

McM now has one. Republic of Astana has one too. I've thought about starting my own since I joined NS but haven't gotten around to it.

I.. I have rebels...

Are you interested in participating. I don't want this to die like my last RP.

McM made his after I posted this, and if you read the thread, he basically copied my application and I drew the aircraft for him :P , so technically the statement was correct when I made it.

My offer still stands. I'd love to see airSCANDIGRAD get some actual RP time.

Yes. You can decide my part <3
And I refuse to let this die.

You definitely got the job, so to speak. I should have been clear about that.

plembobria:

My idea still stands to include officials from other countries. Possibly high level officials and diplomates possibily going to attend an anti-terror or trade summit.

If its an anti-terror summit one of the officials could be in possession of knowledge that could cripple the hijacking organization or something similar to that.

Can we clarify exactly how extensive this will be a military RP...? Just to make my opinion clear, I'd prefer that we kept as much military out of it as possible.

plembobria:
Actually, how about a DU summit, where all the heads of government attend? I'd have to propose that.
Well, there are two major obstacles to that. 1.) A summit with heads of governments would have too hard for even some of the most organized groups with everyone and their grandma working security as those types of events. 2.) When dealing with heads of governments and not high level officials that makes most nations throw in elite military units.

Perhaps we could cooperate with TSP and have an RP where the officials of some TNP nations go vacationing in TSP and we explore and stuff.

It's about time we did a no-militaries-involved RP, albeit an interregional one.

That would require us to have some level of formal collaberation with TSP and map agreement between us and them which as far as I can see does not exist.

I'm having the next couple of days off from work, so I'd love to join an RP. If it ends up being a DU-scenario, I'm out, though. Haven't gotten any reply on by application yet. If people aren't too keen about military RPs, there are lots of other events that can happen that could be called a crisis.

Malfunction in the security systems at a nuclear powerplant that experts aren't able to locate (science-focused)

A chemical plant about to/ have blown up. Liquid ammonia vaporizing all over a city would be catastophic to say the least. (Also a bit sciency)

Multiple fires in crop fields and grain storages leads to widespread famine. Since one nation alone cannot export enough grains to supply the demand, several nations must meet to negotiate an export deal (Several nations required, more on the talk-y side)

Debris from space that haven't entirely burned up hits a town

Other scenarios not in the crisis-category:
A large sports event (as suggested by Nessuno) or a large international cultural event (Relies heavily on planning. Each nation could have his/hers own area of responsibility)

A military exercise (relies more on coordination and planning than the war/shooty aspect)

Just throwing out a few suggestions here.

I think I'll go with that.
The Spokesman of Eumenor:
The only problem there is not everyone is in the DU. Also, am I in?
Sure.
Malvad:
I would love to participate.
Okay!
Scandigrad:

Not at all. I was originally looking for tension between governments. Of course that's not going to happen.
Nessuno:
What about sports?
No.

No.
Egalotir:
To arrange such a thing for just an RP purpose is practically impossible.
Noted.
Scandigrad:
All right, all right I think we are biting off more than we can chew right now.
Yup.

These are all great ideas! But I've kind of decided what our premise is.

By weapon, I'd assume it's the rebels and they'd use the hostages as a trade with Gulsantis for the Vilsuun but ultimately fails.
