Lord Lore:
Nasania:
Now as for having a military of 4.7 million with a population of 91 million, that actually is possible. Here are the
statistics for Vietnam. However, their navy is about 50,000 sailors for 60 ships. The two Koreas have an even higher troop to population ratio.
As for Military Pay, I was basing it off of
this. This
site on the other hand says 40,000. So 40,000 is the new minimum pay. Some nations actually pay even less than 1000.
Nepal pays a colonel the equivalent of $309.213. Recruits barely get $100. Also I was basing the pay on
this. The value added per worker is 9676. Probably shouldn't have used the calc because its GDP per capita is ridiculously low compared to the amount in the budget.
Yes 4.7 is possible, but it is unneeded and as you see no RL country has those types of active troop numbers. And the Koreas are not an accurate representation since they are active wartime states that both fear an attack on their society will happen at any moment.
Also you might want to not use Nepal as a comparison for how you pay your soldiers. Nepal is for lack of a better word backwater country that has a stunted economy where the cost of living is minimal.
But really comparing your equipment with your personel... you have a massive amount of soldiers and etc just sitting around watching paint dry.
I may have many troops, but they are necessary(at least the army is). Nasania is currently engaged in hostilities with separatists in the interior. Have been fighting them off and on since the 1970's. In addition to this, Nasania fought a civil war(2-3 years ago) that caused damage to infrastructure of which the military has been repairing. Other fallout from the civil war is that our country is currently administered by a military junta and our military forces.
In regards to overall numbers of soldiers, we are counting civilians affiliated with the armed services, not all uniformed service men and women are operating equipment. Their focus is research, manufacture of materials, administration, logistics, reserves etc. Our government also has universal conscription which is going to increase the size of our army substantially.
Hmm. Would it be proper to use Thailand as a model nation? The Thai Navy has 64,000 personnel for a total of 59 Ocean ships. 248 including the river-boats. 1200 naval airmen, 27,000 conscripts, 20,000 Marines, 15,800 sailors. We have a total of 144 ocean going vessels. So, I will adjust the navy personnel number further by putting them in the Army for the sake of balance.
Here are the Thai vessel and crew number.
Aircraft carrier : 1(3000 crew)
Frigates : 8(1720 crew)
Corvettes : 7(210 crew)
Patrol vessels : 22 (440 crew)
Fast attack craft : 9 (270 crew)
Amphibious warfare ship : 3 (3000 crew)
Landing Craft Utility : 9 (45 crew)
River ships : 189 complement is 30 so 5670 crew
So Thailand's total Navy personnel on their ships is no more than
15000 (about 8685 on ocean) troops.
Regarding my new numbers of 117900 troops, my personnel per 1000 per capita should be within reason. The figures I used in the table is 1.3 as this
list of Personnel per 1000 per capita shows, the world average for newly industrializing nations is shown
here.
May I ask that you please supply some numbers that you see as valid for a nation of my type? If I increase my population to 160 million, how many soldiers?
If I increase my Naval vessels? By how much?
Which nation(statistics) are you using as a basis for your judgement of troop ratio?
