This was earlier suggested by Democratic Donkeys and I thought it could be fun.

A roleplay between inanimate objects in an office setting. If you are interested please post in the thread and briefly explain what object you will be roleplaying as.

I will be roleplaying as a stapler  :fish:

Character: Tori
Description: A very funky table lamp. Turns on by pull-cord. Even though nobody can see her lightbulb, she perfers a decorative shape - it makes her feel more confident.
kn-kinzig-design-lighting-tori-table-lamp-x.jpg
Background: Tori once lived in a nice, happy home, filled with objects similar to herself. One day, she was abruptly relocated to this dismal, dreary setting, and is now surrounded by gray, black, and white. She worries that she is inappropriately dressed for what appears to be her new home, and relishes the occasional flashes of color that drift by.

Love your character!

Okay here is mine:

Character: Stanley the Stapler
Description: A slender and shiny blue stapler. Stanley used to love stapling large pieces of paper together, but he is getting tired of it in his old age. He no longer enjoys feeling the long metal chamber of staples pushed into his chamber. He used to feel appreciated by his master, but soon realised that he was only purchased as a tax write-off and not because of his stylish finish and personality. Made in China.

Background: Stanley has lived in the office for as long as he can remember. If he is lucky, he will get a ride in the leather bag and a trip to another office. One time he was left in the other office for an entire weekend! He got a bit frightened, but was soon returned to his old home.

I'll do it as well.

Character: Cherry the Chair
Description:
Cherry is a black, leather office chair who's lived the high-life and is respected by her boss for her comfy-ness and beautiful curves. She's surprised the boss paid ¥600 for her services, Cherry thinks that's an utter rip-off for even a chair of her status and beauty. Sunday is her favourite day because she's cleaned on that day, she loves the feel of the wet-wipe running up and down her smooth, soft, leather body and down her strong, plastic legs.

Backstory:
She was made by hand in a Swedish furniture store she called 'EYEKIA', she remembers her first friend, a desk named Decca. Decca was a very kind piece of wood and said hello every morning and sung Cherry and the surrounding furniture to sleep.

Name: Zak
Description: Zak is the Newton's cradle perched upon a shelf. He clacks rhythmically day and night, neurotically keeping time in the office. He is easily annoyed, especially by insults to his intelligence and the use of PineSol on his shelf.

Name: Old Pappy

Description: The colossal grandfather clock by the bookshelves, this old wooden clock has been talking with the other inanimate objects in the office for decades. His original compatriots have long since departed the office. Old Pappy is always tired, and uses the word "muh" a lot to say "my". He is wise, however, though he doesn't know much concerning what he calls the "new kids" (Computers, iPads, etc.)

Backstory: He was installed in 1941 around the outbreak of World War II in an office at Pearl Harbor. He saw the attack through a window, and it haunts him to this day. After, around the year 1969, he was brought to another office in NASA's HQ, where he saw the moon landing. He likes to reminisce about that. Finally, in 1992, he was brought to the office where he now resides, though the tools who greeted them there are long since gone, and were all replaced by 2013.

Edit: Character accepted, except for the last part. Some of the other objects in the office may be older than 2013 - Romanoffia's type writer for example :)

Name: Underwood.

Backstory: Underwood is an obsolete mechanical typewriter made in the 1920's that has been sitting around gathering dust since the advent of desk-top computers. He is the mechanical equivalent of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. Underwood's favourite lines are, "Good morning? What makes you think it's a good morning?" and, "No one ever uses me any more. All I do is sit around collecting dust. Just you wait until the Zombie Apocalypse comes and all the electricity goes out and all of your computers no longer work. Then you all will be sorry you neglected me!" Underwood is the eternal cynic and pessimist.

"It's snowing still," said Underwood gloomily. And freezing. However," he said, seeming to brighten up a bit, "we haven't had and earthquake lately." ------- Underwood

A boring brown dust bin whom everyone says has a big mouth. Everyone dumps all their crap in him, on him and around him. Just about everyone looks down on him -- because he sits on the floor. He doesn't do any trash talking himself, but a lot of trash is directed his way. He refuses to depart, however, even though when things go wrong, he's inevitably the one that gets kicked around.

I think Old Pappy has a new buddy.

Name: Hadyn
pavillion23t_1Big.jpg
Description: Hadyn is an HP Pavilion TouchSmart desktop computer. Hadyn likes to keep himself up-to-date on the latest technology. Hadyn enjoys staying hip with the newest software and "freshest beats". Hadyn often looks up to his predecessors, to see where he came from, but can grow bored if they are too old. Hadyn is still trying to make a name for himself with the other office supplies, while doing his best for those who have put him on the job.
Background: Hadyn was introduced to the office mid-2014. Hadyn often has to cope with the workload expected of him, which can be a lot on the young machines emotions. When the workday dies down, Hadyn relaxes, cooling down from the day. He likes to interact with those around him to keep on top of things and learn his way around.

Name: Ben
img-thing
Description: Ben is an orange paperclip, one of the last paperclips left on the desk. He patiently waits for the sheets of paper that he will hold together and hopes it is an important stack. He looks forward to being finally used.
Background: Ben came to the office years ago with a large container of paper clips. He has been sitting on the desk for so long that he remembers when the computer programs had a paperclip assistant (who he dearly misses). As the pile of paperclips has been whittled down Ben has become anxious that he may never be used.

Name: Troy the Telephone
image
Description: Troy is one of those new-fangled office telephones, with a touchscreen. It can even surf the web, for whatever reason. Apparently it has been used for watching NSFW material at least a few times, but IT is planning to stomp on that soon.
Background: Troy just recently joined the office after the phasing out of the old, more 'analogue' office phone. In the era of smartphones and silly mobile devices, Troy gets a surprising amount of use. Apparently that is because it is equipped with security features that make it less vulnerable to tracking by rival firms. What the IT department doesn't know is that Troy, and its other counterparts is already bugged by at least 16 different governments. When not dealing with confidential agreements and office romances, Troy likes to hang out with the other things around the office.

OOC: Note the gender-neutrality. It's kind of an important part of Troy's character.

Name: Penington
contour-night-pen-3139.jpg
Description: Penington is a fancy black pen, whose favorite pastimes are signing legal forms and clicking to tick off the worker in the next cubicle. When he is not jotting notes down, he spends his time in the pen holder with his friends Redman and Blueben.
Background: Penington was separated from his family at an early age, during a Back to School sale at Staples. After spending several months in the supply closet, he was taken out and put on an office desk. He now is having the time of his life, but is afraid one day he will run out of ink like BiC, the pen that came before him.

It's like old vs. new here.
Cherry, Troy and Hadyn are new.

Underwood, Ben and Stanley are old.

Cronaal:
It's like old vs. new here.
Cherry, Troy and Hadyn are new.

Underwood, Ben and Stanley are old.
I was thinking that also. It will make for some hysterical situations.

Ah, I need to "flesh" out my character.

Being is meaningless concept to a stack of post-its that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby. Meaning is a meaningless concept to a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby.

We meet this character in the typical place one would find a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby. A desk is as good a place as any for a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby to exist. Not that a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby exists in anything more than a material sense. It sits on a desk, one of many, thinks no thoughts, and dreams no dreams. Unlife is Bartleby's only experience, and experience is something beyond the capability of a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby. Bartleby is a whole made of many parts, and the humans who use Bartleby are unconcerned whether a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby should remain as a whole, or be separated into many parts. It is right for the humans to be unconcerned, because a stack of post-it notes that has somehow acquired the name Bartleby does not and could not possibly be considered to have personality, preference, or even awareness.
