Breaking News: Shere Khan Captured by Holy Revolutionary Guard!

Earlier this day Shere Khan the tiger was captured in India by the Holy Revolutionary Guard. He was captured alive and uninjured and is currently being held in the New York Special Correctional Facility. The highly coordinated strike was made possible by confidential informants within multiple foreign governments. While the capturing of Shere Khan is a great victory for Narnia, some have questioned the legality of our actions. The Holy Revolutionary Guard strike force violated the airspace of multiple nations and acted without permission from any foreign government.

With Shere Khan in our custody a debate has began over whether or not to re-educate him, or to put him under more traditional punishment. Comrade Baloo and Comrade Bagheera both requested that Khan be given amnesty and Tenderheart Bear met with Supreme Leader Stephen Harper to ensure Shere Khan would not face the death penalty. While he is obviously far too dangerous to be simply released we believe he may be a good candidate for re-education through thought-reform and behavior modification. Many experts in various fields have stepped forward saying that we can rehabilitate Shere Khan using various psychological techniques as well as drugs, enhanced-interrogation derived therapy and even possible electromagnetic brain therapy.

The Holy Council of God has been a place of lively debate recently.

While the movement to rehabilitate him is gaining momentum many members of the Holy Council of God (parliament) believe that punishment is the only solution. They advocate life imprisonment at a federal prison, and a few even advocate the death penalty for Khan. They say that his crimes must not go unpunished, and that rehabilitation is not guaranteed to work. They point to several failed attempts at rehabilitating deviants during the Christian Revolution as reasons to abandon rehabilitative justice.

Supreme Leader Stephen Harper has sent a dispatch out to his fellow world leaders to ask for consultation and opinions on this pressing issue. Shere Khan is currently charged with multiple counts of homicide, attempted murder, blasphemy and assault against a government official.
 
Syrixia has chosen to assist one of the movements in Narnia, seeing as it is a good friend and ally.

We would like to know of the crimes Shere Khan has committed, so we can make our judgement.
 
Let's not go overboard. What are his crimes? We can't just cast our decision and move on without knowing that.

He has committed at least five murders while in India against Narnian citizens. He ambushed a Narnian scouting party who passed through his forest. In the past he assaulted both comrade Baloo and comrade Bagheera. During his capture he spoke blasphemy and assaulted several soldiers. Shere Khan is violently anti-human and blames the entire human species for crimes committed against his fellow animals.
 
Well let's be frank. Humanity has committed many crimes against animals. However, this claim does not excuse Sher Khan from his crimes. He should be imprisoned but not killed.

Syrixia suggests, as well, that Narnia looks into animal rights and zoological projects. This way we can find a good balance between Sher Khan's wanting to help his fellow animals and his crimes.

Syrixia will help fund these projects if Narnia decides to adopt them.

We duly note that the Empire of Narnia has violated the territorial integrity of India, has violated the airspace of India and other nations, and has conducted an extrajudicial renditioning of Shere Khan, a citizen of India, in violation of international law. We condemn the actions of the Empire of Narnia and urge other nations to do likewise.

The Empire of Narnia is strongly urged to seek the extradition of Shere Khan from India through proper legal proceedings in accordance with international law if they feel Shere Khan has committed crimes warranting his arrest and capture.

Let India deal with Sher Khan. Stay out of India.

We will not return the criminal Shere Khan to India. He has committed serious crimes against Narnian citizens. The only way he will face justice is in Narnia. The Empire of Narnia and India are in a state of very cold relations. An extradition treaty with them is not possible.

Shere Khan is under our custody and will remain so. The Empire of Narnia does not recognize the authority of the World Assembly, Democratic Union or any other international body. Without our forces taking action a criminal who murdered Narnian citizens would be allowed to go free.




PaulWallLibertarian42: OOC: I based this off Osama Bin Laden's assassination. Khan was captured by essentially Seal Team 6, just under a different name owing to the change in government.
 
If you do not choose to bring him back to his home and let his government deal with them then you are threatening international integrity between you and India. As an ally of both India and Narnia we want peace between your nations. If we do not see peace our ten million man force is on standby. Peace will be made and kept.
 
The Grand Council of God held a special meeting to discuss the international condemnation of our seizure of Shere Khan. The Council was unanimous in declaring that we will not bow to international pressure. Admiral Foxy has been ordered to conduct naval exercises along the coast of India to show the strength of Narnia's military force.

Shere Khan was put on trial by the Narnian Supreme Court and found guilty of five counts of homicide, three counts of blasphemy and one count of assaulting a government official. Minister Baloo and Minister Bagheera both spoke during sentencing and asked for leniency for Khan. They noted his difficult life in India and wished he could be integrated into society. Judge Judy made the decision to place Shere Khan into a special rehabilitation program run by the CIA.



Currently Khan is being evaluated and will soon be undergoing therapy. If the program succeeds he will be made a free citizen of Narnia with full rights. Our best scientists and doctors say it is very hopeful that his mind will be rebuilt soon. In regards to the tensions with India we are working to ease the concerns of foreign governments. The capture of Shere Khan was due to extreme circumstances and a failure of the Indian government to extradite him. It should be noted that the Indian government has not yet granted equal rights to intelligent animals.
 
Our Parliament is concerned. The Narnians want to ease the tensions yet conduct military drills off India's coast to show their strength? How does this ease tensions? If anything you have just raised tensions between you and India, and in turn Syrixia. Therefore, Syrixia has decided to instead adopt a third-party system. These training drills will be relocated to an area far from Indian waterspace, and in return Sher Khan's fate after this rehab program can be decided by the Narnians. If these demands are not met, Syrixia will be forced to end these tensions entirely. Peacekeeping forces are on standby.

His Majesty, Supreme Leader Stephen Harper of Narnia, and the Grand Council of God are both urged to make their choice.

OOC: I didn't even know TNP had a canon. I just thought we did RP here for the lulz.
 
After hearing the testimony of several experts as well as foreign governments the Grand Council of God held a vote to decide Shere Khan's fate. 55% voted for rehabilitation, 30% voted for life imprisonment while 15% voted for the death penalty.

Shere Khan was taken to a special CIA facility where the process of thought-reform was begun. Using experts from across Narnia and beyond Shere Khan was reeducated using experimental drugs and several controversial psychological techniques. He reportedly responded very well to the program and after five months of treatment Khan was ready for his first public appearance.

During the annual CIA gala Shere Khan notably thanked the Narnian government for helping him see the error in his ways. His childhood friends Baloo and Bagheera were present and pledged to help Khan integrate into Narnian society. Shere Khan's criminal record was officially cleared and he was deemed safe by the CIA, although he was to be regularly monitored incase of relapse.
