Glorious Revolution of Taijitu overthrows government

Liberty leading the enfranchised Taijituan citizens over the dead bodies of inactive nations.

The government of Delegate Sovereign Dixie, in power since June 2014, was dissolved on August 26 by the Taijituan people, who replaced the aging Senate and executive branches with a direct democracy. The new legislature of Taijitu, styled the Ecclesia, is open to all citizens of the region and as its first order of business elected two officers to administer regional duties: Allama, the new Citizen-Delegate, shall hold the region's World Assembly seat with her nation of Jutensa, while Myroria, the new Citizen-Initiator, shall approve or, with the consent of the Ecclesia, deny, citizenship requests.

A week after the establishment of the Ecclesia, the people of Taijitu voted to appoint Of the US to the position of Citizen-Diplomat, bringing the number of regional officers to three.

Taijitu is also beginning a recruiting campaign; since the new government was formed, the region has grown from 63 to 79 nations. The Ecclesia also appointed St. Oz Citizen-Augur; he shall be responsible for reading the movements and flights of birds in order to predict the future. Taijitu has recieved two embassy requests since the Revolution; the Ecclesia voted to deny both of them.

The East Pacific closes embassy amid "tomato" hullabaloo

A tomato farmer in southern Letonna. Regional tomato sales have shot up in the midst of an unprecedented Taijituan patriotic furor.

The East Pacific closed embassies with Taijitu after a commotion in The East Pacific's IRC channel led to the warning or banning of several Taijituans, including Of the US, St. Oz, and Funkadelia. The exact details of the incident are hazy, but reports suggest it involved several comments about the humble tomato - a vegetable belonging the nightshade family. Though the East Pacific at first denied that relations would ever be reestablished between the two regions, Citizen-Diplomat Of the US turned this into a strong "maybe". A bill that would convert the East Pacific's Taijituan embassy into a Tomato Research Center narrowly failed to pass the Ecclesia.

Citizen Phather Bad Drugs said of the incident, "it was some nonsense that happened", while Citizen-Augur St. Oz remarked that it was a "kerfluffle if anything. It was a punishment that has quickly become a reward". Citizen-Delegate Allama (Jutensa), approached as she was leaving the Ecclesia, said that "Some people just don't know how to take a joke". Citizen Delfos, who campaigned for years for a Taiji direct democracy, commented "I'd just like to say to Govindia that I'm sorry about his cat."

Meeting of Nations in Carcossa

Part of the international delegation to the Cefnor Conference in Carcossa.

Representatives of nations from around the entire Cefnori Basin will be meeting in Carcossa, Al'Khem, next week, to discuss matters yet unspecified by the Khem government.

Representatives from Jutensa, St Oz, Letonna, and Myroria have responded to official invitations from Agathos Daimon Atri Kos, the head of the Khem government, with invitations to Prydainia, Eluvatar, and Austrasia yet unanswered. The notorious secrecy of the Khem government has led to many questions in Myroria and abroad about the nature of the conference. Official dispatches to the Myrorian government, made public yesterday, assert that the topics discussed will be matters that "both states should find beneficial". When asked for comment, Morvene Novroth, Minister of Foreign Affairs, only said that the agenda would be announced "as the conference approached".

The Carcossan meeting will be the first in many years that Jutensa will attend; since gaining their independence from Ozia, the Jutensan state has had an international reputation as somewhat of a recluse. Political commentator Gelyn Veritrith said that Jutensa “will have a lot of work to do to gain power and influence on the world stage, and the Cefnor Conference will do a lot to push the state towards that goal”.

The invitation of Letonna to the conclave is also worthy of note, it being the only attendee without a shore on Cefnor. The fact that a Letonnese delegation is attending is a sign that the nation’s reputation, in shambles since the Neustrian rebellion of 1963, is beginning to recover. It will be interesting to see how Letonnese-Ozian relations play out during the meeting; after Peté Tar-Ilium’s impeachment, Myroria’s opposition to Letonna began to thaw, leaving Ozia as Letonna’s Neustrian minority’s lone supporter in global politics.

Speculation flies regarding the intention and goals of the Cefnor Conference; the only thing certain is that the outcome will drastically alter international relations around the Cefnor Basin.
