Lajikstan for Justice

I understand the rules and laws of the court and TNP. I can keep a level head most of the time and can render fair and impartial decisions. I will fill the role of Justice well.

What is your take on the various court decisions issued during the last term?

In your opinion, what part of the Court Rules needs more work?

Lord Nwahs:
What makes you qualified to be Justice?
I'll answer this one, I'm Lajikstan's Campaign Manager. I'm sure you've heard of me.

[me]shakes your hand and smiles at you while making intense eye contact.

Lajikstan is a candidate we can all believe in. Sure he may not have gone the traditional route of having experience or an intimate knowledge of the Legal Code and Constitution, but what he does have is a fresh set of eyes and the drive to make this region a truly better place. Beyond those requisites, he's a loving and devoted father to many nations, and is quite the golfer! :D

What a beautiful question! Lajikstan respects the diligence and punctuality of this particular Court, once some personnel details were ironed out. It is refreshing to see such an active, and currently even-tempered, Court. That is something Lajikstan would like to continue were the voters to bless him with the opportunity to be voted in to such a fine institution.

The sheer amount of reviews that have been handled this last term is staggering, and the quality of those reviews have been superb. Of particular importance to Lajikstan is governmental transparency, and while the initial FOIA request was denied on a strictly legal basis, the responsibility demonstrated by the presiding Justice to rule based on law rather than feeling was frankly inspiring.

The Court Rules have come a long way this term, and that is yet another sign of the revitalization of such an integral part of our government. Recent trials have demonstrated that the rules could use tweaking, and the result has been a marked improvement overall.

Lajikstan, rather than be critical of this positive step, would like to comment more broadly on the Court Rules. He feels that the attitude towards the Court Rules, as being a dynamic document rather than static, is the most important realization of the Court this term. There will always be matters before the Court that may require a revision of the rules, we are a not able to see the future, and an adaptable approach will help the rules evolve as time reveals potential flaws, however minor they may be. He wishes to give this current set of rules a chance to work and see the results before trying to change them again; adaptable, yet intelligently adapted to meet current needs.

As you are not a TNP insider how do you intend to overcome the phenomenon of TNP seemingly going for the more established and veteran players. What Fresh perspectives can you bring to break the oldguard stranglehold and capture enough votes to win s seat on the bench?

Lajikstan feels that narrative, of the "old guard", is used jokingly by most, and may not accurately represent reality. It is entirely sensible that the electorate feels more comfortable voting for people they know and trust will do a decent job. It is also sensible to realize that all players were at some point new to the game, and that a fresh set of eyes can be beneficial to any organization. It is Lajikstan's hope that people have seen the work he has put in for The North Pacific, to trust him and honor him with a position on the bench. He is well aware that he would be a junior member of the Court, and has no other aspirations beyond serving to the best of his ability.

He hopes the electorate will help him to become the best he can be. :)

Thank you for the question.

Does Lajikstan feel having Democratic Donkeys as his campaign manager is a conflict of intrest especially seeing as Mr. Donkeys has also chose to throw his hat into the ring as a candidate for the bench?

As a potential Justice and having to work in conjuction with the Attorney General's office on criminal trials; Do you feel an AG should prosecute all complaints recieved or have discretion to see what has merit and what is petty to use a recent word on this campaign thread - to only bring charges to the court where a crime likely has actually been committed and not wasting the courts time.

Also, should the court really have jurisdiction to try TNP citizens who are accused of committing a crime in another region be it an allied or treaty region or not? Or should we turn over all evidence and extradite that citizen to that region and let their courts handle it?

I believe your first question would better be directed towards the candidates running for Attorney General. If you are seeking such answers from Justices, might we direct you to the Legal Code Chapter 6 Section 7 for your consideration? Also the Court ruling specific to this issue? The law is clear, and your question is inappropriate for a Justice campaign.

As for your second question, the law is again clear on what instances will provoke a TNP citizen being brought up on charges for crimes in other regions. It is not the place of a candidate for Justice to comment on the jurisdiction of the Court, nor would it be were Lajikstan to be elected. To suggest otherwise is to misunderstand the fundamental function of the Court, as opposed to the Legislature.

As an Attorney General candidate you should already be familiar with the answers to these questions, and Lajikstan must register a certain measure of discomfort at your questions, which are seemingly not relevant to a Justice campaign.

I feel it would serve Lajik's own intrests with the electorate if he shared his own thoughts on the subject rather then letting another justice candidate be his mouth piece. But what do I know. (And that is rhetorical - don't actually answer that)

I also asked these questions of a Justice, because I feel the Court and the AG office works in unison two cogs to the wheel of Justice in TNP. The AG is the chief Prosecuter and is charged with bringing cases to trial and gathering evidence. And it is the Justices job to ensure a fair trial for the accused and mediate the two sides the defense and prosecution and render a verdict based on law. I feel the Attorney Generals Office and the Court and three panel Justices have a formal working relationship. And I thought it was approprate to ask and get a personal thought on the Justice Candidates ideals about this. Since they will have to work with the AG in trials and may or may not have to decide reviews concerning various topics such as this.

If your view were the correct one, then why would we bother with the distinction? Because they are fundamentally different roles, and should absolutely be separate.

They are seperate but complementary. Like the narrator to law and order says "These are the stories of the police who investigate crimes; and the attorneys who prosecute them"

These are the stories of the AGs office who submits indictments and prosecutes cases; and the Three Panel Court Justices who hear these cases.

Does Lajikstan acknowledge that the IRCabal is trying to take over the Judiciary?
