Okay for the election for Delegate I am proposing that we hold a debate at the below time. Some of the candidates are from the USA and Kiwi is from New Zealand so I've tried to pick a reasonable time. If you cannot make it then please let us know and I will try to find a more suitable time if possible:

(time=1399334400) in your timezone.

As much as I would love to be there - I have work at that time. (1pm) If it was on a weekend I could do my best to fit any suitable time.

Voting is only open for five days, so I think it finishes on the 11th. If we leave it till next weekend that will be too late. I should have organised it for the weekend just gone, but I admit that I was too busy and forgot.

Would you be able to do it on a lunch break or should I see how the others can respond and push it back a few hours?

I have school at that time, so nope :(

Hope to see a transcript of the debate or at least some key points and stuff though.

I should be able to do it in afternoons, nights, or mornings (really any time between 3pm-8am EDT) in any of the days till voting opens. However, I would prefer some time outise Tuesday night-Wednesday morning.

I don't actually get a lunch break on those days so it's a bit hard. :P

I know its not optimal but what about Friday (Thursday in the US) at about 2pm in GMT+12?

It's actually a perfect time for me.

But, I have a delightfully easy idea for how to conduct a debate that doesn't put narrow time restraints on participation or giving answers:

Debate process:

We set up a debate thread which is limited to the participants.

1.) Moderator presents a question to all participants who then respond to the questions.

2.) Candidates then can comment on the responses if they desire for a period of time and rebut anything that may be targeted at them or any point brought up.

3.) Repeat 1 & 2 as often as needed.

-OR-

Have people submit by PM to the moderator any and all questions - general for all candidates and specific for individual candidates, then PM those questions to the candidates who then answer them, in undedited posts in a specific thread for the debate purpose.

-OR-

If we want to try something different, have the candidates log into the #TNP (or a created channel) chat at their pleasure where the mob can tear them apart, and then post the transcripts. Now that would be fun. It would be like the Q&A time for the British PM. It would be a free-for-all with lots of blood! :P

Any of these schemes would solve the time constraints issues as to who could attend a debate.

Uni seems interrested in the elections. McM and DD should moderate and let uni be a guest moderator asking a couple of the hard journalistic Rejected Times hardball questions.

The transcript would be interresting at least ;)

I like Roman's idea. If there is no objection I'll move with that and inform all RA members via PM that they can submit questions directly to me and I'll open the threads on them.

Works for me.

Okay. I'm at University at the moment, but I'll send out a message seeking questions from people immediately. So if you are reading this, feel free to send me a PM right meow.

If questions are too similar I won't ask them again, but will try to merge them together. I think I will post each question as it's own thread to make it easier to follow the discussion. We can play it by ear though and adapt as necessary.
