"A shocking event has rocked our nation today as of 4:30 am today, a government truck transporting two tons of radioactive material has been reported missing. According to initial reports, the operators of the truck and the armed unit tasked to guard it were hijacked and the truck containing the said materials was stolen. The countries national police force and other agencies are working around the clock to locate the truck and the radioactive materials. Here is Arrysia Mollanoski for more details."

"Thank you Donnagy. Well the country is currently on red alert as early this morning, a specialized truck delivering uranium control rods to Grogeriovania's newest power plant and two troop carriers on were stopped to assist a pedestrian they reported was stuck on the road. As several soldiers inspected the vehicle, a group of armed men in ski mask appeared from behind the shrubs and held their weapons at the soldiers. The soldiers felt that if they shot at the masked men, they might accidentally hit the cargo being transported in the truck which they thought would result in a nuclear explosion. The men stood down and the masked men tied them up along with the truck driver and escaped with the truck. Grogeriovanian Chief Inspector Tassius Ovlovenn told reporters this morning that they still had no leads and noone has taken responsibility of the act. Chief Inspector Ovlovenn has stated that they are looking at all suspects and possibilities and would use every resource to apprehend those men involve. The site of the incident as well as the Mussinik nuclear power plant, the plant the control rods were initially being transferred to are on lock down while the authorities investigate this matter. They have asked the public's assistance on this case."

"Mollanoski, several people are alarmed by this and are asking, could the stolen materials be used to create some sort of nuclear bomb?"

"We spoke to some experts earlier about this and they have confirmed that this are not weapon's grade uranium and they cannot be made into nuclear bombs. However they feel that it could be instead used as radiological bombs are more commonly known as 'dirty bombs'."

"Does the police or any of the authorities have any idea who's done this? Surely they must have speculations."

"Well they have repeatedly denied that they have any idea who the suspects are in this case al though they are looking at the possibility that it might be the Klonnik Kaider environmentalist extremist group. The group has been known to condemn this plant ever since its proposal."

"Have any other foreign countries responded to this crisis?"

"As of now, there is still no reports as to how the other North Pacific countries would or will react to this subject. King Petyr and other government officials is trying to keep this a strictly national affair but if needs be, they would not hesitate to ask for help from foreign powers.

"Thank you Mollanoski. We will update you once we receive more information on this matter. In other news, adultery is on a rise as the hit t.v. show 'Going Steady'...."

Olvern, a nation that utilises nuclear power itself, regrets this unfortunate incident. Olvern's Border Patrols have been put on high alert, and all vehicles capable of carrying such nuclear equipment, be they arriving Olvern or any of her colonies and protectorates from air, sea or land, will be thoroughly checked by the Border Patrol, and nuclear experts and specialists from the Energy Ministry.

Chief Diplomat of the Republic of Olvern

This is an unfortunate event. The Malvadian government hopes that the stolen equipment is found and the criminals are brought to justice. The Malvadian Navy and Air Force will search through all transports entering the country. We hope the situation is resolved soon.

National Police Inspector Ronnaldo Kriskov and his partner, Inspector Minna Sarmminski stopped their vehicle near a cordoned off area of the road. A large road sign warning other motorist to avoid area was placed ont he side of the road. The classic police tape was spread through half of the road and traffic was starting to get clogged. The two police inspectors stepped out of their car and pass the police tapes. There, a number of other police officers were guarding the area. Kriskov walked up to one of them and asked for a briefing on the situation.

"We found the lorry here about 12:00 last night. A number of people reported this truck obscuring traffic and dispatch sent two Riennor city police officers to check it out. The two of them immediately identified the truck as the one that was stolen yesterday. They called it in and the spec. ops were swarming around here before we were even notified. Anyways, they didn't touch anything, just check for contamination. They cleared the area and we were sent in. We checked every part of the truck and it was clean as hell. They even used bleached on the seats to wipe away their scent if we tried to track them down with the hounds. We checked the container but it was clean as hell too. Two miles to the east... yup, in that deep forest, we found five hazmat suits and a number of off-road vehicle tracks. Our guess is they split the 50 rods into tens, seeing as how there were five tire tracks and all."

"Where the hell do you think they would have taken it?" Asked Sarmminski.

"We're a couple of miles west of Novare Res." The officer said.

"They wouldn't have taken it there. Once news got out of the incident, the Czar would have clamped that country so hard they wouldn't be able to do anything with those rods." Kriskov said.

"How about Schweizweld, could they have taken it there?" Sarmminski asked.

"Possibly, but they would have to have secure connections there if they want to do anything with the rods." Kriskov replied.

"Well, what do you think they'll do with it?" The officer asked.

"They'll sell it inside the country. Our security ain't as tight as our neighbors, they would have an easier time getting a quick buck out of the rods here than in any of out neighbors. My guess, They're selling them to Bigtopian agents for a cheaper price." Kriskov said.

"Cheaper price?" The officer asked again.

"Think about it. If they bought those things off the market it would cost them what, 65,000 to 80,000 NSD for a rod. This is some high-quality enriched uranium were talking about. Now there are 50 of those bad boys our perps got and they're going to sell them for 20,000 maybe 15, 000 for each. Crunch down the numbers and that's a big profit. The Bigtopians would save a lot too if they bought the b*stards." Kriskov added.

"By Fraconia, how do you know this sh*t?" Sarmminski asked.

"Used to be an underground weapon smuggler in Grogeria. You learn a lot if you hang out with the right people."

Kriskov took a cigarette out of his pocket and smoked.

"Those vans that they used to transport the rods, they must be specialized. Those things would have had to have a lot of lead to contain the radiation. We find those back-heavy vans roaming in the high way and we got our perps." Kriskov said.

"The next point is Grogeriovania's nuclear terrorism hijacking," Foreign Minister Kevin Stephens noted at his weekly International Cabinet meeting, which included Checkers' Chief Ambassador, military leaders and intelligence officials. The Chancellor was usually too busy to come, and so was-

"Unacceptable!" Checkers WA representative Neil Powers slammed a 56-page S1 report on Stephens' desk. "We give Grogeriovania so much support with their nuke program and this is how they repay us."

Moderator Stephens looked up bemusedly. "Is it that big of a deal? This type of fiasco happens every week."

"But this one's their fault," Powers hissed. "WA resolution #10 clearly states that nations that choose to have nuclear material must take all precautions to protect them. Stopping to help a pedestrian? That's the textbook hijacking situation."

"So what are you going to do, Powers? Take the rest of the material?

"Nien, Kevin. I'm going to take away their soldiers."

My fellow nations:
I for one am outraged about this idiotic lapse in security in the nation of Grogeriovania.

On behalf of an international community that does not wish to be blown up because of an incompetent military, I demand that
  • the soldiers who were on the scene are dishonorably discharged
  • the officers who coordinated the transfer are tried in Grogeriovania's military court for incompetence
  • security of Grogeriovania's remaining material is transfered to the international community
Sincerely,

It just so happens that the day the letter was delivered to the Grogeriovanian government was the day finances, taxes and funding for the different branches of government were being discussed. They were quarreling and bickering with each other when the young diplomat entered. King Petyr saw his arrival as a welcome relief until he read the letter he delivered.

"I cannot accept the terms written here." King Petyr said. "Well, not the first two at least. I cannot discharge my soldiers for aiding their countrymen in need." King Petyr looked at one of the men sitting near him and asked. "What is the number one priority of the Grogeriovanian armed forces?"

"To protect and serve the Grogeriovanian monarchy, the Grogeriovanian government and the Gorgeriovanian people at all cost." The man said.

King Petyr glanced at the diplomat again. "They were just performing their duties to the public. They took every precaution though while aiding the motorist and when they were snatched by the trapped, they didn't go trigger happy. I'd say their performance was satisfactory. As for my officers, in my view, they did their jobs as best as they could as well. Even now their working hard to recover this materials. I couldn't have asked for a better-staffed military force. We will allow the international community to handle the transportation of the materials if needs be but our armed forces shall be closely coordinated with them. That is all I think, unless you other issues to discuss with me and my colleagues."

The young diplomat bowed and promptly made his way out of the room.

OOC: is the young diplomat controlled by you or me? because you can't say he just leaves without an argument if he's supposed to be from checkers :P

Supreme Leader Infuschein laughs at Grogeriovania's foolishness. Merconitonitopia has been nuclear-free almost from the start. Who needs nuclear power when you have solar and wind generators? Knowing them, they're probably manufacturing weapons, too...
