President Hilley, proud leader of Guslantis, and Vice President Tucker walked into the presidential meeting room. Seated at the long table were the president's cabinet. The president sat at the head of the table, and the vice president at his right. "Welcome great cabinet members, I have called you all together today for one specific reason...to expand Guslantis" said the president. The cabinet members looked at him with confusion. The ocean was blocking them from expanding further to the East, and many countries were blocking them from expanding further to the West. "You see, Guslantis has sat around and let other nations expand around our great nation, it is time to fight for the expansion Guslantis has been waiting for!" The Secretary of Defense, Secretary Cassidy Ryan, was the first to speak. "I agree with the president, we should attack the nation of Grosseschnauzer!" she said and waved her pen in the air. "Nonsense!" yelled Secretary of State, Secretary Madeleine Knowles, "We must attack the the nation of Hilevation!" she said to Secretary Ryan. The whole cabinet started to argue as President Hilley and Vice President Tucker watched. Suddenly, President Hilley rose to his feet and yelled, "SILENCE!!!!" The whole room went quiet and President Hilley sat back down. "We will not be attacking any nation but the one I have decided on, which is Zemnaya Svoboda." The cabinet looked at each other with half amazement and half confusion. The nation of Zemnaya Svoboda was a massive nation, it could not be attacked. "The idea is not for them to be conquered, but to be set back, we shall take the Northeast side of Zemnaya Svoboda, up to its border with Green Pacifica, and claim it for The Democracy of Guslantis!" He turned to Vice President Tucker and spoke again, "Take my declaration of war to be voted on by the Guslantis Congress, we will need their vote in order to continue with this attack." Vice President Tucker took the declaration of war from President Hilley and exited the meeting room. As the door to the meeting room closed, he read the declaration.

After the Guslantis Congress passed the declaration of war, it was time for the president himself to sign the declaration of war. He sat in his office and signed his name at the bottom of the declaration. That next morning, the Guslantis Armed Forces invaded Zemnaya Svoboda.

It was pitch black, and Aleksei heard a loud knock. He blinked. Another knock. He was in his chambers in the Tauride palace, it was not even close to dawn, and someone was knocking at his door. This could not be good. "President Minister Aleksei Aleksandrovich Kerenskij! The Republic is being invaded!"

Six minutes later...

"I call to order," Aleksei coughed, "this emergency meeting of the Government." He continued, "Ministers, how can we respond?"

"There is only one response to such an unprovoked betrayal," briskly replied Mikhail Pavlovich Avksentjev, Minister of Defense. He grinned, humorlessly, and softly exclaimed "War."

"Much as I hate to agree with Mikhail, our credibility, nay, possibly our existence is at stake," asserted Nikolai Iosefich Braverman, Minister of Foreign Affairs, "We have no choice but to declare war."

"It will be expensive, but the people will accept it," continued Andrej Andrejevich Morozov, Minister of Internal Affairs.

"Is the Army prepared, Mikhail?" asked the President Minister.

"Quite adequately, Aleksei. Quite adequately."

As firefights began on the border, the Military Air Forces (VVS) were scrambled. An eclectic mix of the best of the best, the worst of the best, and the best of the worst planes acquired at the usual steep prices with the VVS's respectable share of a forty trillion dollar defense budget[note]my best guess, may be revised[/note], these fighters, bombers, and fighterbombers swiftly engaged the Guslantean advance. In the mean while, the Republic began mobilization. Hundreds of millions of conscripts would soon be joining the millions of professional soldiers fighting for their country against the invader.

"Stand straight you maggots!" blustered the Sergeant, "I'm here to tell you the best news of your lives!"

Ivan groaned. This would not be good.

"We're at war! The perfuddsy Guslantissers just attacked! You'll be joining the 734th in Omsk straight away, and then," he grinned evilly, "to the front!"

(OCC: I hope this rp is open. If not I'm just going to delete my post. Sorry if I cause trouble).

King Petyr of Grogeriovania sat in his office, drinking a frosty mug of beer and was reading a report on recent incidence. Apparently the nations of Guslantis and Zemnaya Svoboda were at war. King Petyr took another cold gulp, the alcohol made him think clearer. Three people sat in front of him, His Minister of Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of Intelligence Services. The king turned his gaze at all three of them and back at the report. He took a final drink and placed the empty mug at his desk.
"Mr. Sakkrokov, why does this concern us?" He asked his Minister of Defense.
"Instability in the region could mean instability in your country and we don't want that, specially now that your royal wedding is coming up."
"Any thoughts on this Miss Drannolov?" He asked his Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"We shouldn't be showing aggressive action, specially now that we have just moved to this region."
He finally turned his attention at his at his Director of Intelligence Services. "Is there any way we could implement both measures?" King Petyr ask.
"I suggest we urge the two nations to agree on a diplomatic solution, place economic sanctions on Guslantis and have our spy networks supply Zemnaya Svoboda with financial aid and equipment."
King Petyr nods at the director. "Excellent plan, initiate the necessary procedures immediately." he remarks. King Petyr dismissed his Ministers and looked out of his window, deep in his thought.

The Emperor was enjoying dinner at his favorite five star restaurant in Vation Island, capital city of Hilevation, when he was interrupted by his top adviser, Treskine Maunter who begins to whisper in his ear.

"Sir, there is a developing situation in Zemnaya Svoboda."

"What could be so important that you are interrupting me during my meal," the Emperor said with a degrading tone.

Treskine looks away and mumbles "They have been invaded by Guslantis."

"I want a full briefing ready in 15 minutes," the Emperor urgently replied. "Also, Advise the Admirals to raise the readiness level."

"Right away, sir." Treskine quickly disappears as the Emperor finishes his meal.

45 minutes later in the War Room...

"ENOUGH!, We will not take advantage of this situation Admiral Skalin. Ready the Navy for reconnaissance missions commencing. It is time to release a statement to our neighbors"

"Yes, Emperor Hile. I will move forward with this immediately," First Admiral Skalin, Admiral of the Emperor's Navy, replied angrily.

Emperor's Dispatch
Earlier today it was brought to my attention that two of our neighbors are now engaged in conflict. It saddens me that these two Great Nations were unable to conduct their business in a manner that avoided War. We in Hilevation believe a peaceful resolution to this conflict can be agreed upon. I encourage both nations to end the hostilities and negotiate a fair settlement at a neutral site.

I have ordered the Emperor's Navy to begin reconnaissance missions to further assess the ongoing situation. The remainder of our Armed Forces are on an elevated alert status. In times like these all we can do is hope that calmer heads prevail.

I once again urge both nations to come to a peaceful agreement to end this conflict immediately. I personally offer to host peace negotiations. My Government will do everything in our power to help bring a peaceful end to this situation.

Emperor Dennrick Hile

Dear Minister Donaldson,

As you may be aware, my country has been invaded from the east by Guslantis, without provocation. We appreciate your government's withdrawal from the deceitful Treaty of Pigletville, understanding that there could have been serious concerns if and when our military counter-attacked.

While Guslantis borders my country, our coastlines are far apart. By sea, Guslantis is even farther from Petrograd than it is by land. For this reason, we would like to ask your government's permission to use its ports to supply our navy, should we take retaliatory action. We understand you have chosen neutrality in this conflict. However, all we ask is permission to purchase supplies, in particular fuel, from the ports of your fair isle.

Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Foreign Minister Nikolai Iosefich Braverman

Minister Stevenson rushed into the conference room. Of all the things that could happen, she thought, of all the things! She quickly took her seat at the head of the table. Those present at the meeting included TNP Ambassador Lawrence, Foreign Affairs Minister Donaldson, Defense Minister Voris, Human Services Minister Stone, Intelligence/Security Director Hughes, and Brigadier Thomson.
"What's the situation?" Stevenson asked.
Director Hughes responded, "The nation of Guslantis, an ally under the Treaty of Pigletville, has invaded Zemnaya Svoboda. It is turning into all out war. Other nations have responded with pleas for peace."
"How should we respond then?"
The room immediately broke out into shouting. One minister began yelling for war. Others called for sanctions and blockades. As the shouting continued one minister quietly stood up and raised his hand.
"QUIET!" shouted Stevenson, "Minister Stone has something to say. Please, go ahead Boris."
"Thank you Minister Stevenson. As Human Services Minister I am responsible for many things. Included among these is making sure that Malvad respects all human rights and stays on the right moral track. Considering the fact that Guslantis attacked Zemnaya Svoboda unprovoked, I do not believe we can support such a nation. I propose that we withdraw from the Treaty of Pigletville and declare our neutrality in this conflict."
"Thank you minister. Do any other ministers have suggestions?" asked Stevenson. Foreign Affairs Minister Donaldson stood up. "Yes, Rebecca?"
"I must agree with Minister Stone. To maintain our international reputation we can not support Guslantis. Also, I have received this letter from Foreign Minister Braverman of Zemnaya Svoboda:

I move that we allow Zemnaya Svoboda access to our ports and supply them with humanitarian aid. We should also push for peace talks. Diplomacy is the best solution."
"Thank you minister." Stevenson pondered the suggestions for a moment. "I agree with Ministers Stone and Donaldson. I will sign an executive order withdrawing us from the Treaty of Pigletville and allowing Zemnaya Svoboda access to our ports and aid. Anything else?"
Defense Minister Voris stood, "Yes minister. The Brigadier and I believe that our withdrawal from the treaty could result in backlash from Guslantis and the other treaty signatories. That being said we are in full support of withdrawing from the treaty. We advise, though, that the navy and air force should be mobilized and prepared for war. The army should be alerted as well."
"Well said minister. I shall add that to the executive order. This meeting is now adjourned."
The ministers filed out, hoping that involvement in the war could be averted.

The president was seated in his office when the Secretary of Defense ran in. "Sir, many nations are against your attack on Zemnaya Svoboda, nations are withdrawing their oaths of the Treaty of Pigletville, we must call back our troops before we are destroyed by a war that you have started!" she said to him. "I never really wanted to start a war with Zemnaya Svoboda, I just wanted land, and as for the Treaty of Pigletville, it clearly stated 'will not engage in conflict with the other members of the treaty' and Zemnaya Svoboda was not a member of the treaty, so we could declare war at any time, so withdrawing their oaths only hurts them" he replied. "The nation of Hilevation has offered to host peace negotiations, would you be willing to negotiate?" she asked. "Get the negotiations ready, I will go to Hilevation" he said. "I will telegram the nation of Hilevation immediately" she said and left his office.

Sir Archibald Gawain walked fast through the golden corridor that leads to the Heavenly Hall, the domed hall where the Round Table is placed. The sentinels opened the gates for him and one of them talked with a soft voice:

"Sir, King Lennart has not accepted a private meeting as you requested, all of the Round Table Knights have been summoned instead".

Gawain's showed his concern closing his eyes for a long second and sighed, he even thought of turning and going away, something he never thought of before, not even at war. But this time everything was different, "this is my fault".

Finally he entered the noisy hall, where the other ten knights and the King himself seemed to be discussing the latest news about the Guslantis war. But as soon as he came in, everyone calmed down and looked at him, silently. A cold sensation possessed Gawain's body.

"Sit down, Gawain" Lennart talked with a deep, harsh voice "As you know for sure, Guslantis has attacked a peaceful nation without provocation of any kind..."

Gawain unsheathed his sword and show respect to the Table and the King, then took his seat among them and heard the words of Lennart, while his heart was beating with anger and shame.

"Gawain, you, as our Knight responsible of Foreign Affairs, and I, as the ultimate responsible of Avalon's destiny have both failed this country by signing the Treaty of Pigletville. We've been tricked".

"... Tricked? Are we not interested in keeping peace with those nations anymore?", Gawain needed more time to think of a way out, "Guslantis is free to declare war or peace on whoever they want, we're not forced to take a side". Gawain look aside and ended his statement with some last, honest worst. "But I understand we're not as free as we would like to be... And our primary objective when we signed that treaty, keeping peace, is all but fulfilled... Will this cost me my sword?".

"Your sword? don't be silly. Just fix this as soon as possible, what will be our next move?" the rest of the knights looked each other's faces and seemed to nod acknowleging Lennart's words.

"Our next move?", knowing his sword and Knighthood was not at stake, Gawain recovered part of his lost confidence and suddenly even his voice seemed driven and strong: "The other signers of the Treaty are probably withdrawing from it, Avalon should do the same"

"But you said...", Sir Percival Northgate rose his voice.

"I was making up an excuse... But I won't do it again, we must break any diplomatic links with such a warring nation".

"Malvad has already done so" said the King and then looked at him skeptically to ask: "Do they think they have a real possibility against Zemnaya's army?"

"The strength of the regional powers around Guslantis was one of the reasons we signed the Treaty in the first place. That and throwing a bone to them, being a young nation... Whatever is happening in Guslantis and their Government as to do this, remains a mystery for me."

President Hilley and Vice President Tucker walked through the capital city of Pigletville, escorted by Guslantis Presidential Security Guards. "Sir, you are losing the support of many nations, your secretary of defense is requesting you end this war." "Get me on air and I'll tell the nation exactly how I feel."

Within minutes, President Hilley was on every screen in Guslantis. "People of Guslantis, this is your president speaking, this war was the worst decision I've ever made, if the nation of Zemnaya Svoboda agrees, I'll be willing to negotiate in a neutral location, thank you." The motto and flag of Guslantis went on the screen, and the screens returned to their regular programming.

King Petyr was trying out a suit for his royal wedding. It would only be a few days from now. The slick black suits pleased him very much. The royal tailor stood near by, with a notepad in hand in case his majesty wanted anything changed.
"Very elegant, very suave. I like it. You are truly an artist Restorr." He told the tailor. The tailor nodded and smiled.
Just then the Director of Intelligence Services entered the room. Petyr turned his attention towards him.
"What news do you have for me Mr. Myllokov?" He asked.
"Your grace it seems that the President of Gulantis has agreed to attend the peaceful negotiations at Hilevation."
"Excellent news, and what of our mutual help to Zemnaya Svoboda?" Petyr asked again.
"They have received the first shipments of arms and financial aid, they are most pleased with this."
"Excellent, excellent. Now I want you to contact miss Drannolov and have her send a dignitary to Hilevation. Observe the happening and figure out if we truly can resolve this peacefully. You are dismissed."
The Director bowed and walked out of the room.

Roger Franklin pulled up in a taxi at 400 West Gordon Avenue- the corporate HQ of Brevity Financial, one of the largest banks in Checkers. He walked inside and swiped his ID in the elevator, which gained him access to the private Executives' Division of the building. Upon exiting the elevator on the 48th floor, he had a word with the secretary, who knew him from his weekly visits to the president of the bank, who was his cousin and investing partner.

Franklin entered the hallway to the president's office and closed the door behind him. In front were the grand doors to the president's office, but he didn't walk over to them. Instead he wheeled around, jammed the door shut with a gadget in his pocket, and turned to the wall. Prying off the air vent and sliding away a phony cover he brought his eye up to a retinal scanner while grabbing the vent (which was equipped with surface-sensing and wireless detection chips) with his thumb in order to scan it. When a green light beeped with confirmation, the "president's private elevator" opened. Franklin entered and the elevator closed and took him hundreds of yards below the building, which Brevity Financial had been "implored" to move to after an interesting investment snafu in which in exchange for immunity, Brevity had essentially become a front for Checkers' 3 high-profile intelligence agencies.

Something beeped and Franklin, director of Servant (the section of intelligence devoted to the Chancellor and all national officers) was doused in "Bugs N' Weapons," as the agents fondly called it- biodetection foam. The computer evidently was satisfied as the elevator's doors opened, giving Franklin a wide view of the Gordon Avenue Compound: conference rooms, data analyzation, top-of-the-line communications interception. A guard saluted. Roger saluted back and crossed to a large, imposing doorway, where he palmed his ID against a scanner and another elevator took him down to the main conference room; where two people awaited him.

One was Clark Forester, the director of Server- the intelligence agency devoted to international espionage and affairs. Server had covert operations running in every country, inside and outside of every embassy, and a few oceans and unclaimed airspaces to boot.

And the other was Carla Bjorsky- the director of Servall. Servall penetrated every building, bank and business in Checkers. In essence, Servall and Server would get what you needed to know, and Servant would put it to use. Franklin sat down, mouthing the words he knew Bjorsky would be taunting him with-

-"you're late," she chuckled, mocking Franklin's general urge for timeliness.

"Cab ride," he shot back. "So, people. Guslantis. What do we know?"

Forester replied, "we've got inside info that President Hilley is suddenly reversing for a surrender."

"That's impossible," Bjorsky said. "He's been going on this invasion for weeks. It must be a ploy- something else must be going on."

"Precisely," said Forester. "Sources just minutes ago pointed to some thousands of troops still moving forward- not back- on Zemnaya. We think he's weakening international defenses-"

"-in order to launch a larger attack and finish the job."

"Exactly!" Forester replied. "Wait.. who was that?"

Chancellor Cody Vassar grinned, having entered without the three stealthiest people in Checkers knowing. "Zemnaya is a friend. We will not lower our defenses, and we will urge them not to either. I agree, Clark, and I don't think we can afford to be undercover about this anymore."

Franklin read his old friend's mind. "I'll set up a broadcast."
5 minutes later, Vassar's face was on chancellor.chk and many major TV stations. "Good evening to Checkers and the world," he began. "Earlier today, President Hilley tried to cover up a humongous invasion when the allied forces of the world starting mobilizing. But we are not yet ready to forgive and forget. Guslantis' forces are increasing, not the opposite, and we will not accept their plea for peace before a war they're trying to disarm us for. We implore our friends in Zemnaya and Malvad and elsewhere to keep their guard up and continue to pressure Guslantis for the facts. President Hilley, Mr. Tucker, you have my word as the Chancellor of Checkers that we will not back down. Don't try to make us."

President Hilley, Vice President Tucker, and Secretary of Defense, Cassidy Ryan walked through the Guslantis Army Headquarters, or GAHQ, for short. Each scanned their official tag on the war room door, and were let into the war room. Seated at the head of the table was General Emily Akerman, the highest ranking general in the Guslantis Army. "Come, have a seat" she ordered. All three sat into the chairs beside her, and watched a electronic map appear on the table. The Guslantis Armed Forces, or GAF were visibly moving further into Zemnaya Svoboda, unlike the president promised, on the map. "Mr. President, you see, we have planned on an attack that will render the opposing armies useless, leaving the GAF to take the expansion that we need for Guslantis." said General Akerman. "Perfect, explain the plan." said President Hilley. "We will use our Guslantis Air Force to swoop in and bomb the northeastern part of Zemnaya Svoboda, unexpectedly, and have our troops march in after the bombings and take on the enemy soldiers" said General Akerman. "Perfect, order the attack on Zemnaya Svoboda" said President Hilley.

JUST IGNORE THIS, BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA IF I'm EVEN ALLOWED INTO YOUR STORY, NEVERMIND RUIN IT. PLEASE DISREGARD.

But little did the leaders of Guslantis know, the crack intelligence officers and their olde-world eyes and ears, the spies - had infiltrated deep into the heart of Guslantis military culture. ZS had the ace up it's sleeve. General Akerman's adjuntant was in fact Konstantin Trotkinsh, the very man responsible for the training of all men and women assigned to Group Trap. Group Trap had succeeded in luring Akerman into buying into intelligence that was complete nonsense. Trotkinsh had trapped in his trap the one general that was believed to be unstoppable. Meanwhile, ZS elite forces, having been held back since the start of the attack, waited for the call to surge forward...

Meanwhile, behind a laptop in a city on the far side of the world, a member of NS decided to jump into a RPG thread and completely destroy it. "Anything to get a post up, I need to move my rank higher" said Semitica.

Infuschein - Supreme Leader of Merconitonitopia - studied the map in front of him. Guslantis was far away from Merc, it would be very illogical to attack them, there are so many other nations near it that they would attack instead, and they would need to get there via plane, helicopter or boat - all of which would soon be gunned down by the militaries of the nations in between them. Infuschein thought it was stupid he was even thinking about that.

Why can't every nation coexist peacefully? Why can't we all be pacifists, like Byron and Infuschein himself? Though then again, that's like asking why the crime rates in Merconitonitopia were so high. In Merc, there is no "state" other than what controls the nation's large public sector. If there was a regional mega-state with certain nations acting as "police" to prevent international wars throughout the region, perhaps then Gutlantis would have thought twice about attacking Zemnaya...

Intelligence Director Roger Franklin was busy typing in his public office when his phone rang. Not the normal ring- the "The-most-powerful-person-in-the-Article-Circle-or-Cody-Vassar-or-someone-more-important-is-really-mad-at-you" ring. He picked it up.

"Roger! This is Carla Bjorsky."
"Ah, director. What's so urgent?"

"Evidently our Servall intel was correct. Satellite Intelligence is giving us preliminary scans that Guslantis is NOT retreating. Their Air Force is diving into northeast ZS, and our informants in Guslantis weaponry say that there's a major attack coming."

"Well, damn. Vassar and the Forces needs to know about this."

Franklin hung up, noticing that Bjorsky had sent the scans directly to his computer via S1's secure cloud. He opened a hidden drawer and pressed the blue button- identical to the one owned by the two other intelligence directors, the Chancellor, the foreign affairs moderator, and the Armed Forces generals. It called a National Counsel. The majority of those people would show up in hours if they could.

And at three pm, most of them were in the Chancellor's office. Franklin filled them in on the situation- "and those soldiers and bombs could be landing any minute. It's a miracle it's not all over the news yet."

Foreign Ministries Moderator Kevin Stephens was the first to speak up. "I've got my work cut out, then. We currently have relations in Guslantis, so we shut those down and get out ASAP. I can call on our security forces from our embassies in Voronia and Hilevation. They'll be flying out before we know it."

Chancellor Vassar asked, "General Beckett, is there a chance we can get over there and avert the attack?"

The Air Fleet General said, "not a chance. Even our new stations in the Ironic Gulf couldn't get there in time."

"Great," Vassar said. "So here's what we do. Kevin, secure every asset we have in ZS. Embassies and all. And find ZS's embassy here, contact anyone you've got and give them our data. Same with you, Roger. And call out to every one of our allies near the Byrontonian Sea and ask them if we can station planes in their runways."

Message:
TO: Army Heads of Hilevation, Avalon, Voronia, Belschaft, Malvad, Gladio, Byron.

secure transmission begins

We cannot accept Guslantis' sneaky military tactics. Checkers does not have any base in your area but would like to temporarily station planes in your nation. Otherwise there is no way to protect ZS.

In the Guslantis war room, President Hilley and the Guslantis Armed Forces generals, including General Akerman sat and watch the attack of Zemnaya Svoboda unfold. Suddenly, an officer ran in the war room. "Sir, the Guslantis Air Force is beginning its attack" said the officer to President Hilley. "Of course, can you get us in contact with the commanding Air Force officer?" responded President Hilley. "Of course" said the officer. Over Zemnaya Svoboda, Captain Johnson flew his huge squadron of bombers toward their destination. "Captain, come in, this is President Hilley, status report" said President Hilley over the radio. We are almost ready for attack." said the captain back. Suddenly, behind the captain, a bomber exploded. "Sir, they are firing on us!" yelled the captain. Back in the war room, the highest ranking generals from the five branches of the Guslantis Armed Forces watched the electronic map, the rest of the generals left the war room leaving the five generals and President Hilley. The five watched and did not take their eyes off of the map. General Emily Akerman, general of The Guslantis Army. General Jennifer Bjorn, general of The Guslantis Marine Corps. General Mike Daly, general of The Guslantis Navy. General Jeff Eubanks, general of The Guslantis Air Force. General Spencer Greer, general of The Guslantis Coast Guard. As the five watched, they heard airmen screaming as their planes went down. "Send in the reinforcements" ordered General Akerman. By nightfall in Zemnaya Svoboda, the Armed Forces had regained a lot of land. However, Zemnaya Svoboda forces refused to give up. After days of fighting, President Hilley issued a letter directly to Zemnaya Svoboda, and to the rest of The North Pacific.

Official Letter From President Hilley:
Dear Zemnaya Svoboda and the rest of The North Pacific,

I am officially calling for an armistice to be made, I am tired of this war as much as every other nation, I would like to meet in a neutral location to sign this armistice. I would like to agree on new borders for our nations and hopefully we can agree on which nation gets what part.

Thanks,

Open Letter:
To all nations that it may concern,
Malvad's borders and ports are now open to any nations wishing to support Zemnaya Svoboda. There will be full protection from the Malvadian Navy and the Malvadian Air Force. Anything else needed can be requested at local foreign affairs offices. Thank you.
Rebecca Donaldson
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Letter to Malvad:
To whom it may concern:
We are wanting to end this war, not take sides and continue to fight this war. I am asking you to help us end this war, not choose to help one side or the other. If the nation of Malvad is interested, would it like to host negotiations?

Thanks,

President Hilley

In just a few hours, Checkers Fleet stealth bombers and recon planes had landed on Malvad, ready to attack. "And we really can't thank you enough," Foreign Moderator Stephens told Minister Donaldson. "Your staff has been extremely friendly and we'll be out of your hair as soon as possible. Any time you need a favor in the Arctic Circle, just ring me up."

"Glad that's done," Chancellor Vassar told his foreign chief. "Now I've got to deal with Hilley."

Open Letter to President Hilley | Published on CHANCELLOR.CHK:
President Hilley:

We have had enough: Checkers does not accept your plea for negotiations. You have done this before and yet you continue your senseless attacks on Zemnaya.

If the rest of the international community will not take action, Checkers will speak up. We have air support fully stationed in Malvad and it is protected by the Malvadian Army. At this point you have two options: withdraw from Zemnaya Svoboda, like you have been saying you will, or lie and stay and we'll decimate your forces. Decimate them.

Make your choice soon, President Hilley. You have told your own citizens you wish to withdraw, you have told us, you have told Malvad. Now actually do it.

Cordially,
The Hon. Cody Vassar
Chancellor of the Republic of Checkers

In the war room, President Hilley read the letter from Checkers. "Withdraw the troops" he ordered. "What?" yelled General Akerman. "We can't withdraw our troops, we are winning this war!" "Even you know we aren't, general" said General Bjorn. "Anyways, Checkers has told us we have to withdraw from Zemnaya Svoboda, and I am. I am tired of this war." "How are we going to expand Guslantis?" asked General Daly. "By colonizing" said President Hilley.

The next day, Guslantis men and women boarded a ship headed to the south tip of The North Pacific. Included on this ship was Vice President Tucker. They set off at noon and were at the south tip of The North Pacific in a couple of hours. They got off of the ship and Vice President Tucker said "I hereby declare this south tip of The North Pacific shall be a colony of Guslantis!"

Letter to Guslantis:
President Hilley,

If all troops are withdrawn as Checkers has demanded we will gladly host negotiations. With you and Zemnaya Svoboda's approval we will host a peace summit in our capital, Modino Maro. We only wish to see peace returned to The North Pacific. And if amended properly, maybe with a conference, we will gladly rejoin the Treaty of Pigletville.

Respectfully,

Rebecca Donaldson
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Stan Voris
Minister of Defense

Wendy Stevenson
Minister of the State

Letter To Malvad:
Thank you so much! You have my approval to host negotiations. All troops have been withdrawn from Zemnaya Svoboda. I hope peace shall soon be again.

Thanks again!

-President Hilley

Chancellor Solnste was sipping coffee in the suite's office and going over his morning agenda when suddenly he heard a loud noise and Alek yelling angrily at someone that they couldn't just barge in here like this. Almost immediately, General Murov burst into the room with several armed members of the National Protective Service as Nikolai himself was standing up to investigate the commotion. Alek came running in behind.

"I'm... I'm sorry Sir, but they wouldn't stop!"

Nikolai raised his hand to calm him and looked over to the General quietly waiting for an explanation.

"Sir, we need to move you immediately to a secure location! You must come with us now."

Nikolai's brow furrowed and asked, "What is going on General? Is it the Merchant States?"

The General shook his head and ushered the men toward the Chancellor. The armed men were trained to protect the Chancellor at all costs and they quickly surrounded him and forcibly guided him through the room, through the building and out to a motorcade in the back of the hotel. Several press reporters and camera crews found themselves jumping out of the way as the fleet of cars sped out the gates and through the city toward the airport.

"Tell me what is going on! NOW!" demanded Nikolai to the General who was sitting across from him the heavily armored SUV.

"I'm sorry Sir, but we are still gathering intel. At this time all we know is that a fleet and force of unknown size has landed just south of our borders at the Great Horn. Several of our coast guard clippers picked the fleet up just before it rounded the Horn and have identified them as being from Guslantis. Given their recent actions against Zemnaya Svoboda, we've had no choice but to put the entire military on alert. I've already ordered he Domestic Guard to mobilize and move to reinforce our borders. As I said, we need to move you to a secure location. Morya is too close to southern border."

Nikolai set there dumbfounded. Just last night he had rejoiced at thought of peace with the Merchant States and now... Now his people might be facing a new danger.

Letter to Malvad:
Dear President Donaldson,

The Russian Republic is interested in negotiating a lasting peace acceptable to our people. We are sending a delegation to Madino Maro to prepare for negotiations.

Sincerely,
Foreign Minister Nikolai Iosefich Braverman

Letter to Chancellor Solnste:

Honorable Chancellor:

My nation regrets the intelligence we have just received that Guslantis is moving close to your borders. As you may know, my intelligence service Servall monitors naval situations around the North Pacific and Guslantis is high on our list. We are not surprised that they feel they must take action against another nation but we are prepared to offer Corinair as much aid as possible.

As such, we noted that a man of your importance is probably quite vulnerable with the Guslantian menace nearby. A fleet of planes previously stationed in Modino Maro are speeding southward as we speak. We have established routes along TNP's east coast. With your permission, my planes will land in Morya and speed you to a safe house unwise to mention in public correspondence. Our warships can also keep President Hilley's forces away from your borders.

Respectfully,
Chancellor Cody Vassar
Checkers

Chancellor Solnste was sitting in the briefing room of his plane, high above Corinair headed to an unknown location. He looked up from the satellite images displayed across the table when an aide entered the room and handed the General a piece of paper.

"What's this, I really don't want more bad news." he said as the General scanned over the paper before passing it across to him.

Nikolai started reading the apparent note from Checkers and immediately pulled up a screen on table and began typing away.

Letter to Chancellor Vassar:
Honorable Chancellor:

While normally it would concern me to know you have such rapid intelligence about my nation's matters, in times such as these I will overlook the matter for the greater good of the region. We are not yet sure of Guslantis's intentions, but considering their recent actions we cannot afford to take chances against my people's safety when we are so young a country.

As of yet, they have not made to move across our borders or even toward them. But being less than 500 miles from us, I humbly request you go to Modino Maro and demand to know their intentions It is my understanding they are having peace talks there and I feel we must now be part of them. For the safety of the nation, I've just ordered our borders closed, however we would welcome your Naval forces with gratitude in the Bay of Morya. Perhaps together, we can show Guslantis they won't surprise the region so easily again. These aggressive expansionist ideas must be stopped!

Yours Truly,
Chancellor Nikolai Solnste
Democratic Republic of Corinair

Return Letter:
Chancellor:

Our warships will be in your harbor in hours They will not take action without your command.

I will instruct Ambassador Smithson- our representative in Modino Maro- to discuss Guslantis' situation.

With respect,
Cody
