SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION AT VOTE

Commend Versutian Federation
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Nominee: Versutian Federation

Description: The Security Council,

Noting the recent Zombie Apocalypse which befell much of the world, causing the tragic deaths of trillions in many regions;

Recognising the Versutian Federation as a region which was of low 'Zombification';

Observing that during the Zombie Apocalypse, this region became the largest among a considerable number of regions accepting "refugee" nations from other beleaguered regions;

Appreciating that the administration and protection of these regions were complicated, time-consuming and thankless tasks;

Realising that these tasks included, but were not limited to:

Taking measures against nations not complying with zombie anti-exportation policies;

Encouraging nations to adopt policies of research into cures;

Monitoring nations in the region to ensure continued compliance following re-admittance;

Offering advice and support to nations suffering under the effects of the Zombie Apocalypse.

Screening would-be refugees for potential malicious intentions

Acknowledging the efforts of the Versutian Federation, its leadership and the wider community in providing salvation for nations often close to collapse due to the outbreak;

Further thanking the Administration's continued stewardship of the region, protecting over 230 nations from threats both from within the region and externally;

Grateful that the honourable actions of the Versutian Federation were mirrored by countless other regions who protected nations within from the harsh effects of the Apocalypse.

Concluding that many hundreds of nations and many billions of people were saved by the selfless, responsible and humane actions of these regions, chief among them the Versutian Federation;

Hereby Commends Versutian Federation.

Against. I have multiple reasons, but my major one is simply the fact that the Author is a member of the region being commended here.

I have not will not ever support self-commendations. They are sleazy underhanded attempts to boost one's own ego and we should not oblige them as such.

UPDATE: I'm going to expand on my rationale and why it should not even be commended:
1. The most obvious reason is that this was a damn April Fools joke. Why are we commending anyone for that? Yeah okay, they helped with the whole thing and saving populations, but it's not that big a deal. It isn't like they had a lasting impact upon NationStates as a whole. In the next few weeks, they will most likely fade into obscurity.

2. This region is quite new. It isn't really in good form to commend a region or nation so new and it would set a bad precedent. Again, this is due to the fact that they did not have a lasting impact on NS just yet.

3. I know groups that worked harder than the Versutian Federation. NationStates Community and Equilism have done a lot more worthy to be commended for... and I don't even support commending them for this one day.

4. As I said previously, this is clearly an ego boosting attempt, no matter how long the Author has been in the region. He is there to stay clearly and it has become clear he will be soon considered a native of the Versutian Federation. I can not stand self-commendations or self-condemnations.

Maybe somewhere down the line, they will play a larger and far greater impacting role in NS affairs. When that happens, I will be happy to have a look over their history and the possibility for their commendation/condemnation. Until then though, they do not deserve a commendation for this. I will vote AGAINST on this proposal and urge others to do the same.
