On Feb. 18th, us Europeians elected our new Senate. After a boring start to a 10-day campaign period, NES stole the show when he proposed a Senate reform plan in his campaign platform. His plan invigorated the race. This reform idea was embraced out of interest from the citizens of Europeia. We have been searching for some time for a solution to our problem that the Senate's influence in the region continues to diminish. NES brought that solution, or rather, he jump started a discussion to find a solution. When the elections started, it was clear almost from the beginning who was going to win. Recently returning Malashaan and McEntire easily got themselves a seat. Senator Drecq won himself a second term, and Stersteraved made his first win in a general Senate election. NES also was easily elected. Out of six candidates, only five could be elected, which left Remsol Greyjoy eating the rest of the candidates dust as he could only garner a measly 9 votes, which was far away from the top candidate, Former Speaker McEntire, who received 27 votes in total. It proved to be a great election, and we are confident it will be another great term for the Europeian Senate!

With the new telegram system here and more coming in the new future, a number of Nationstate User Created Regions (UCRs) came together and create a treaty to keep recruiting out of UCRs. This regional conference took part in Europeia a few weeks ago. 36 delegates from 23 regions attended the conference. These delegates, from every aspect of the game, from raider to defender to independent, came together and created the "Arnhelm Declaration of Recruitment Standards.” The declaration can be found here . The declaration states that no Signatory may recruit in another Signatory region without reasonable justification. Passed in 8 regions so far and more signing every day, the declaration is the probably the biggest regional treaty since COPS. This Treaty aims to protect the ability of user-created regions to grow a sustainable and a growing population by preventing Signatories from recruiting in other Signatories. Europeia recently concluded a week celebrating the Republican Navy, the military branch of Europeia. Contests were had, stories were told, captions given, and winners announced. Oh, and the Navy was active as well. The ERN successfully captured multiple regions during the week, including The Feminist Region, Hack Forums, and Death Star. At the end of the week-long festivities, President Swakistek awarded Grand Admiral Common-Sense Politics with a Triumph, described in the Europeian Awards and Honors Act (2012) as "the highest honour awarded to any citizen for military service to the Republic. It may be awarded for highly-distinguished service or a particularly-important military action, or for other military service within the discretion of the President and Senate."

These results are hardly surprising, and paint an accurate picture of the high esteem in which Common-Sense Politics is held in our community, and rightly so.

It is these qualities that I mention above that have made Common-Sense Politics the greatest Grand Admiral in the history of Europeia.

It is this extraordinary service, accomplishment, dedication and skill that I would acknowledge and recognise today.

Therefore, for his service as the de facto Father of the Europeian Republican Navy,I would like to award Common-Sense Politics with a Triumph, and consequently the Order of Republica. I can think of no person in the history of this region who deserves this award more than he, and I hope that the Senate will see the same way.

I intend that the next few days will see all manner of celebration for our Grand Admiral as we commemorate this prestigious award to such a deserving candidate. Let the celebrations continue, in honour of his great achievements for our region.

Just after the Navy Week celebrations (and seemingly endless postponements), the signing of the Treaty of Friendship between Europeia and Balder was celebrated, rather unsurprisingly, by a festival. The popular Three Word Story thread provided the usual weirdness and laughs, Drexlore Greyjoy's opening speech somehow descended into a discussion about various alcoholic beverages and Europeia won convincingly in the Viking Battle - though this was probably due to the fact we had more people participating. Also, as mentioned in the caption above, the Norse Pub saw discussions, rough-housing and pillaging - which is what one would expect. However, the Euro leg of the festival is, unfortunately, nearing its final stages and soon the festival will head over to Balder, where we'll likely see some action and a lot more Vikings.

We can only wait and see what the people over at Balder have prepared for their leg, and hopefully it'll be just as fun, hilarious and strange as it was in Euro. You can/might be able to see the festival here.

The Following is a Statement from the President Regarding Recent Events:

"Recently, two FRA Rangers entered the region SPACE impersonating members of the Europeian Republican Navy, who were also involved in that operation.

The Europeian Government denounces this behavior in the strongest possible terms, and find this to be wholly inappropriate by any measure in the modern landscape of NationStates warfare.

In the light of the severity of this incident, we have recalled our Ambassador to the Founderless Regions Alliance, Senior Ambassador Cerian Quilor, and suspending our diplomatic mission to the Founderless Regions Alliance until further notice. We have also decided to revoke the accreditation of the diplomats representing the Founderless Regions Alliance in Europeia, and we therefore advise them that we will not permit continued operation of their diplomatic mission in this region until such time as appropriate reparations are made.

We will consider this matter to be resolved upon reception of a formal apology from a representative of the FRA, and at that time, we are willing to restore diplomatic relations as existed prior to this action."
