ARCHIVED: Pact/Conference for Republics and Democracies?

Hey guys, hope things are going well. I wanted to speak to the Republics and Democracies of The North Pacific about peace and love and all those wonderful things! :noangel:

...So yes absolute monarchies and dictatorships with no civil rights, get the hell out now.

...Are they gone? Good. OH GOD FINALLY. I THOUGHT THEY WOULD NEVER LEAVE!

Now, there are some republics and democracies... there are also some representative monarchies. All cool groups of governments I think. However, none of them really talk with one another, and that's slightly disturbing I think. I propose that a conference or perhaps a defensive pact of these representative governments to be formed.

Thoughts and/or interest?

Appreciated. I'm in, though I gotta trust that you can pick pie flavors. French Silk is NOT an option.

I'm in. As an inoffensive centrist democratic nation with monarchy, we are glad to participate in a pact or conference amongst all nations similar to the interests and ideals of our nation.

I'm on board. Our official title is the Commonwealth of Scandigrad, but for all intensive purposes, we're a republic.

Awesome! There's actually people who are up for this!

So, do we want to do a Conference setup so we can do some RPing? Or should we just jump into it?

Flemingovia is not a dictatorship or a Monarchy, it is a theocracy. Flemingovians know that the chief happiness of Humankind comes when they are following divine will and enjoying divine favour. Flemingovians believe in one man, one vote. God is the man; he has the vote. Flemingovians follow God because they follow the Flemingovian mantra: "Flemingovia is always right. I will listen to Flemingovia. I will not ignore Flemingovia's recommendations. Flemingovia is god.”

Iro:
So, it's tonight three days later. How is that going?
Ease up turbo :fish:
College is an evil thing. Also, I wasn't happy with the first draft so I scrapped it. I like the one I'm working on better... almost done too!

By the way, for me, it's still tonight... I just extended the definition of night to include three and a half days. :P

Fear not, I am still interested.

I think the problem is that many of us have been distracted by the recent special elections.

Sorry 'bout showing up a bit late. I accounted for it in my response. I just have one thing.

Can we get a bit more substance in some of the responses? Nothing urks me more than two line responses. There are emotions, thoughts, stories to tell. Go ahead, use your imagination, and pump in as many details as you can! :)

Alvino Castillon:
Iro... what in Alma's Name are you doing...
I'm gonna second this, and ask what exactly you plan on doing with a character from my delegation. You probably should've told me about that.

Requests for Representation at the Galt Conference are hereby closed. The following nations are hereby considered part of the Galt Conference:

  • The Federal Republic of the Almanianian Union (Alvino Castillon)
  • The Democratic Republic of United Koryo (DRUK)
  • The Commonwealth of Scandigrad (Scandigrad)
  • The Grand Imperial Republic of Malvad (Malvad)
  • The Holy and Divine Republic of Kingborough (Kingborough)
As of this time, these five nations will be considered Founding Members of the North Pacific Community (should the Conference succeed in creating such) and will play a large role in shaping its functions and intentions.

The following nations have requested Representation at the Galt Conference but have not yet made their entrance to the Conference:
  • The Minister of Cheese of McMasterdonia (mcmasterdonia)
  • The Parliamentary Republic of Ramaba (Govinidia)

Delegations that have not yet arrived have until December 13, 2012 at 12:00 AM EST to do so. Failure to arrive will ensure disqualification from participation in Conference discussion. Should extended time be required due to extenuating circumstances, please send me a Private Message before the deadline.

Oriole Electronics:
The Oriole Union seeks to be join this Conference.
OMG HAI! WELCOME TO THE CONFERENCE.

There will be only one other delegation allowed. They know who they are and they will join us soon hopefully.

I lied. No new delegations will be accepted at this time, as we are hereby looking to move into the Second Round of Negotiations.

Now, I need to know from those participating in this Conference... would you guys prefer to write the Charter post by post, or should we do it all in real time via IRC and other things?

I'm okay with either; however, real-time via IRC could quickly become jumbled and confused, also some of us may be in timezones that would not work well with others. I kind of liked what you said IC that each 'Delegation' write their own draft then present it to the group and we then could either vote on the best one or dissect them, taking the best bits from everyones? Just some thoughts.

Edit: I'm thinking Oriolean Elections happen tomorrow evening. So, we'll have a new leader by then but who and what their political positions will be, I cannot say

Then I would support motioning for a recess for two hours ICly so each nation can write its own draft of what it would support. That good?
