With 2012 coming to 2013 without ending in apocalypse (Mayan or just people going crazy) Westphalia is getting ready to change much. Many things have happened in 2012 and the regional number of citizens is rising steadily. But there is still much work to do even in 2013. A lot of tasks that our politicians and out citizens look forward to handle. 2013 will bring much change to the region but also making much return to what the region was before.
THE EMPEROR RETURNS
2012 was a turbulent year where the possible CTE of the region founder and emperor became a very overshadowing concern. Almost the entire region was focused on a solution and anything from refounding to not doing anything was suggested. Luckily the Crown Prince was able to contact the Emperor and prevent a CTE and eventually we even got the Emperor back after a long hiatus and thereby also putting a lid on a monarchy/anti monarchy debate that had roamed the region in the Emperor’s absence.
ELECTIONS PLANNED FOR IMPERIAL ASSEMBLY
With a new year comes new challenges and of course new solutions. As Westphalia has just returned to the old constitution after an emergency constitution was set in place in the absence of the Emperor, it is Necessary to elect a new Imperial Assembly. So far there are many eager candidates and question rounds are made to give voters a better idea of who to vote for. The candidates are very even in parties and independent runners. Only one party have an advantage in numbers of candidates but it is also the biggest party of Westphalia. So no surprise in that.
THE GOVERNMENT TODAY
Currently, the government is headed by no chancellor as our former Chancellor resigned. Zdenka wished rather to teach and therefore currently the government is primarily guided by the WA delegate Andropoland and the Emperor Mike. Our minister of Culture, Crazydunn is currently working hard to make the Westphalian university an attractive part of the region by starting many classes and hiring teachers. The Foreign minister Katrine working on foreign relations as well as her candidacy for the upcoming election. In the department of Law and Security, Minister Huron is has spent the beginning of the year on creating new titles and functions for our forum police as well as worked out the hierarchy in the courts.
MILITARY STRUGGES TO GET OFF THE GROUND
The Westphalian Military is an organisation that seem to have a very hard time getting started. While the decision to make an army was met with very mixed feelings, it came through and even have quite a good number of people on the roster. But because the region is not yet certain on what direction it wish to take with the military and because finding a suited military leader proved hard, the Westphalian Military never really got anywhere. 2013 might be the year where the military will get more active in international missions and hopefully with the planned training it will gain the respect of other regions armies too.
PLANS OF A WESTPHALIAN CURRENCY
In an initiative by a very old member of Westphalia, Emporia, it has been suggested to award citizens for participation and work in the region. Many ideas have been suggested but ultimately it was narrowed to getting Westphalia its own currency. Currently the discussions on the matter is if the region can handle a monetary system and how to avoid inflation. But it is looking well for the currency as both a name is suggested and codes for the system is sought out too.
