The North Pacific - A Virtual Desert...

Romanoffia

Garde à l'eau!
I've decided that there must be something that must be said and I really don't care who gets their knickers in a twist over it.

1. This region has turned into a desert. Anyone who tries to get things moving is accused of 'openly supporting a coup'.

2. We can't even get the elected Delegate enough endorsements to actually be installed as the Delegate.

3. Any attempts to create activity in this region and interest in making this government work as intended is stomped and labeled as an attempted coup.

4. The North Pacific is a shambles without direction and very few seem to have any interest in changing that state instead opting for a 'status quo' of lethargy, apathy and elitism.

Get off your collective buts and get people to participate.

To be fair:

1. Hardly anybody accused the progressive party of fomenting a coup.

2. Blue Wolf hasn't been putting his best effort into it.

3. Example?

4. There's some interest.. quite a few ideas being tossed around in Constitution Committee.

In all due respect, Blue Wolf II is a wolf. What else would you expect?

He is not even a pure bred wolf. That makes him even more cunning.

Point being, I don't see anyone attempting to do anything but sit around and do nothing about anything.

We aren't doing much here but talking either. Talking isn't going to generate any activity if nothing actually come up from this talk so let's stop arguing about whether a change in law is actually going to create activity and come up with a list of thing to do that doesn't include changing a law. (Truthfully, anyone actually believe we can get law change here? I try to shorten the period before you are considered inactive in the RA and after a few months, nations moan that it is to hard on them and change it back.)

We already have a list of things that should be done here: http://forum.thenorthpacific.org/topic/6883556/1/ so maybe we should talk about how and what can we start that doesn't needs the delegate?

I think that is a good start. Just make sure you don't propose anything that might be construed as 'openly supporting a coup' which of course, means check your sense of humor at the door. :P (note to sensitive types - that was called sarcasm and is not 'openly supporting a coup. or is it coupe? :eyeroll: )

I found this thread that pretty much cover Cultural and Foreign Affairs. Can anyone tell me if this actually result in an update or can I go ahead and assume that nothing come out of this yet? If there is already something starting then it's the remaining three department that needs to be take care of: http://forum.thenorthpacific.org/topic/6887390/1

Military can't be done since it's related to security so Blue Wolf would probably have to give a go ahead. So there is still recruitment... any original (or not so original, but effective :P) ideas on how to attract new nation to the forum? All I can think of, are the usual way of RMB chat to knock off the recruitment message and sending recruitment telegrams to each nations)

It might look like a desert to you but if you stay and look around you will find it wonderfull and amazing and full of natural wonders and i really suggest you try the beaches in the eastern Islands in TNP they are beautiful and yeah our rum is famous :)

flemingovia:
How DARE you say TNP has no direction?

Down the Crapper IS a direction.
:fish:

I am glad I helped revive the discussion. What of the Constitutional Committee?

Well, actually it's mostly water unless there are new landmasses that we haven't discovered yet.

Back on topic -

There is lots of incentive to start a campaign to get the government fleshed out and bring this region back to life. And, may I suggest that a program to increase activity and participation in the region's government is a good start. It's not really that hard to do. Perhaps an RMB campaign like I oversaw several years ago when serving as Minister of Communications. Also, a TG campaign to the same affect.

All that has to be done is to get people active again and there will be no pressing need to radically alter anything and give the region time to modify the Constitution as needs be.

Well we need to look at our structure and go through the proper channels. We need to make structure of this desert.

The problem with telegramming people is that it isn't a solution. It brings them here, they work for a while, and then they get bored and disappear.

Speaking of coups, JAL was a good and active delegate for the majority of his terms. If only we could avoid the pesky purges at the end, I'd support that activity. (I'd go for Flem's idea, but in the TNP spirit, I feel like we'd need a whole pantheon, rather than one false god.)

I apologize for my crude sense of humour. I completely agree with you PAL, but would like to add one thing and one thing only (until there is more solid discussion) from other potential helpers.

We need to be a unit, and not overload anyone. I myself am getting ready to apply at Harvard, Yale, Carnegie Mellon, and UC-LA.

Hmmm, a pantheon of TNP deities. I'd say something syncratic with the Old Norse Deities/Greek/Roman/Hindi systems would suffice for that one.

I've got an idea for a fun thread that might get some serious activity going on the forum. *fiendish mad laughter*

It's not the system that make people bored and disappear, but rather the fact that we actually do not do anything unless the Delegate start something. We have no government right now because the Delegate is largely absence during his term and we do nothing because we have no direction. Now, we go back to the document again which I agree is a part of a problem since the system of governance is from top to bottom where the Delegate is permanent position and the ministries is create afterward when in actuality the system at the bottom like ministries and department should be permanent to maintain continuity.

However, let's get people to participate first before we actually talk about changing the system. Otherwise it would be just a couple of peoples changing it instead of the entire region.

Longterm goals should be considered. Looks to me like the Vice Delegate + Delegate system in place is working and slowly progressing forwards. We should keep in mind today's date and plan accordingly. We all know what happens when American politicians run for election/re-election.
