The nominations period for the special election to replace Speaker Grimalkin -- temporarily if he is reinstated or permanently if he is in fact removed -- have begun.

Nominations will end on Friday, August 13th. The special election will then commence.

Candidates will be listed in the first post at my convenience.

Remember, as we have yet to marshall a quorum or even hold a vote on this clause, one must have been a member of the Regional Assembly for the last 30 days to be a candidate.

The Speaker leads the assembly's proceedings and oversees the form and procedure, opens and closes the vote on proposed bills, and sets the agenda. It basically parallels the role of the Speaker in the real-life US house of representatives.
 
As a former Speaker, I'll add that its holder is also the chair of the Council of Legal Oversight, as well as being responsible for processing applications for RA membership.
