What $300,000 can buy you

lol, was bored today so I killed time looking at real estate values... my findings were as follows. For $300,000 you could buy any one of the following properties:

Which raises the question of what on earth am I doing living here.

those house speculators that raped the economy and then got bailed out sure did inflate the value of stuff.

London, England

Yeah, and you only get a 99 year lease for that price.

In my neck of the woods, people can't give away real estate. Actually, they can't get the over-inflated prices they are asking. Essentially, the tax assessment is about three times the fair market value of prices asked.

For example, 20 years ago in my county of North Carolina, I purchased a 300 acre fully functional horse farm with all the buzzers and bells for $35,900 US. The annual property taxes were $170.

Fast forward to today...

That same piece of property is valued at $3.5 million fair market price (what a joke) and the tax assessment says it's now worth $6 million. The taxes with farm assessment are now about $35,000 per year. If It wasn't a farm, it would be taxed at about $175,000 per year in property taxes.

Now, what I want to know is what the county government is doing with the $1,500,000,000 in total tax revenues (property, businessm etc.,,,) they get each year - and all the time bitching and moaning about how they don't have enough money to make the budget. There are only 15,000 people in the county and the unemployment rate is at 30%.

I've figured that as it stands right now, 90% of my income before expenses goes to pay local, state and federal taxes and welfare for all the illegal aliens who don't pay taxes.

And the SOBs at all levels of government want to raise taxes even more.

But that's the price to be paid when the US has adopted the economic and social polices of National Socialism.

I'm tellin' you all, the US is heading for either a major revolution, secession or dissolution like the Soviet Union (which we are rapidly and increasingly beginning to resemble.

I pity the Canadians if the US socializes and rations medical care because the Canadians will have no place to go for timely and effective medical care.

The good news is, you can still buy decent places in my neck of the woods for 300K. The bad news is, nobody wants to live in my neck of the woods (including me :P )

Hey Roman, I pay about 20% of my income on taxes, our unemployment rate is 3% and I don't dole out an additional dime for health care each month. Didn't have to bail out any banks either. Oh well, I guess I'm just another poor deluded communist.
