War Games

A thought occurred to me recently - there are no decent wars any more. Back in the day, we were at war with everyone and their mother; The Empire, Gatesville, etc etc.

So, I thought about instituting some from of war games to NS; between feeders, UCRs, doesn't matter. The first one to cry mercy loses. There could even be some sort of tournament system, winner vs. winner, to find the toughest region in NS.

Any thoughts?
 
You might try floating this past the delegate of The Pacific, too.

War for the sake of war! I love it!

But it does serve a function - to test the ways the mechanics of it all can be manipulated (which is largely dependent upon who you go up against).

There are a certain number of tools available for war. So far, everyone has tried the same old thing over and over again with the same results. Winning a war largely depends upon who has the stronger will to win and outlast the opponent. Winning is only temporal, though. You can win by letting the enemy win and when the enemy gets bored, the leave and go home since conquest is the only goal. Invading someone, taking them over is fine, but if the party that is invaded simply doesn't resist, the invaders get bored and go home. End of war, status quo is restored.

IOW, trying the same thing over and over again knowing that each time, expecting different results is the very definition of insanity. In order to 'win' a war one must have the will to preserve what has been accomplished forever with eternal vigilance. Not an easy task.

Posted this idea on the NS GP forums, seems to be some initial enthusiasm. People have also suggested that there could also be a role-play element along side the actual gameplay side.
 
Capital! We've got 3 feeders which may be interesting in a little Fight Club-esque tournament. I'd like to get more UCR involved, given the relatively aggressive nature of some UCRs I don't imagine this will be a hugely difficult ask.
