NS Public Embassies

NS Public Embassies Came to existance more by accident, but it is a quickly-growing movement with younger regions throughout NS, as they embrace this new style of gameplay for their foreign affairs needs. NSPE is Currently the largest housing of Embassies on any public or private forum, and the second largest NationStates Public forum in known existance, second only to Jolt. The term'Public forum' here, referrs to a forum which is not built for any specific region. Although the NSPE was built for the future use in a region, the ideology behind that region, as well as the 'authority' over that region have been stripped on this forum, leaving only one of the biggest 'NationStates Change' success stories out there.

Check us out at NS Public Embassies

Below is an introduction of how it works, a brief history, and what features it has. One member has referred to it as 'Jolt v2.0'. And indeed, as NSPE grows and covers more areas besides embassies, this appears to be what is happening. Ambassadors from around the world are drawn to it because of its ease in foreign affairs, as well as numerous other features, listed below. Ambassadors also like the 'self-rule' style of forum, whereas we consider their embassy fully and only theirs to do with what they want to. This 'self-rule' environment is a big difference over the Jolt forum and other private forums because it puts the ambassador in charge of their sections on the forum, and the Administrators are not allowed to alter or edit embassy information (and that will be legalized soon under the COPS Treaty).

NationStates Public Embassies
NSPE

NationStates Public Embassies or NSPE is an exciting new way for new and experienced regions to manage and simplify their foreign affairs. By allowing nations to have a public embassy for the whole world, they open up many new opportunities to expand their foreign affairs, show their regional successes, and allow their nations to show their pride they have for their success to the world. NSPE is proud to be NationStates first, only and largest Public Embassy Complex over any other region, alliance or organization. We are proud to have you as members here, in this growing movement on NationStates.

NSPE was brought into existance at a time when NationStates seemed at its lowest point in activity. Regions had fallen inactive, whole alliances abandoned, and game activity was deminishing. Romenoch, believed he could start a new region based off of imperialism, and on February 7, 2008, did so. In the process of seeking out alliances that day, and creating foreign embassies, he realized that it would be much easier to invite everyone to one forum so all embassies of other imperailists were in one place. This forum was then called Imperialism Public Embassies, and with the huge success of this idea, it soon became apparent to invite all regions here. NSPE was born. Romenoch abandoned traditional gameplay to solely manage NSPE in a neutral environment, and since then, day by day, NSPE has grown.

As new members from around the world came to NSPE to open up an embassy, naturally new features were created. Nations were premitted to become the moderator of their own embassy. Personal forums were created for nations who requested, as well as passworded vaults accessable only to the player. A 9-room conference hall was established for diplomatic summits. Global News Network was created which provides news to the Embassies about the Embassies and the world that is NationStates. As NSPE grow, so to do the features and options. Nations can request new features, and NSPE will adapt to fit the needs of the players.

With this innovative approach to foreign affairs of the players, as well as our new features, NSPE has achieved great success in NationStates. On February 27, 2008, and only 20 days old, NSPE achieved the monumentous goal of being the single largest housing of Embassies for any NationStates related forum, surpassing the ACCEL forum with 38 Embassies at the time, NSPE also hosted an 8-region summit, of which the results were a merger of many regions. Well over half check their embassies on a daily basis, and another 1/3rd check them weekly, making this a highly active forum.

NS Public Embassies has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a just a forum for a region to a massive forum for the entire game. We are pleased that you have chosen to join the world in an exciting new time for NationStates and your regions foreign affairs. We welcome you aboard, and are here to serve you with anything we can help you with. Remember, we all are here because we want a more efficient way of managing foreign affairs, and bid you the best of luck in using NSPE as your souce for all things foreign. Welcome.

Making Your Embassy Successful

Your embassy here is a representation of your region. As a member of your region, you want to show that you have pride for your region, it is active, and willing to grow. Your embassy should reflect these basic ideals. As an ambassador who runs your embassy, it is always a good idea to post up-to-date information about your embassy so that others can learn about you and make informed decisions about continuing relations with you. Likewise, it is important for you as an ambassador to be active in other peoples embassies too, as well as the forum in general. Statistics show that those who post more, tend to set up more alliances here with people they otherwise would have never heard of. Your success depends on you. The Admins here are here to help you in whatever it takes to make your embassy here its most successful.

Forum Features

There are many things to do on this forum aside from just your embassy. As new members request new things, we are always happy to grow and mold ourselves around your needs. Here are a few things members have requested so far that are open to all.

Mod Your Embassy

UN Delegates, Founders or anyone else that these nations choose can now mod their own embassy. They have all privilages but deleting posts and viewing other players IP address. Giving greater control to members is important to us, and this request was a great first step at doing so.

Arcade, Army System & Store

These are great features added to give the players more entertainment value while at NSPE. The Arcade being the most popular of the three contains 579 flash-style games. In the Army System, you can choose your nation out of the top ten most powerful kingdoms of the middle ages and fight with fellow members. The Forum Store is a place where people can spend their cash they earned on post counts on various items. The store is not fully set up yet. Likewise a forum cinema was added to give players a time to sit back, and watch a movie, free on us.

Global News Network

GNN started as Romenoch posting information in the pacifics about NSPE. Today, any member can submit news to the GNN, to be submitted in one of our weekly publications. GNN also does opinion editorials and conducts interviews with nations all across NationStates.

Personal Forums

Nations can now request a forum built just for themselves. Some nations use their forum to conduct other regional affairs for their region, and some players use it as a personal blog. Either way, this is a great addition to NSPE.

Vault Forums

These forums are available to any nation who requests and are passworded with randomized alpha-numerical digits. Nations can do whatever they want in the privacy of their vault, store information, or conduct private meetings. The vaults are never opened by administrators, and nations can screenshot the 'last click' link to check their security at any time, or note to themselves the 'thread views' numer next to their posts before they leave. This is the Swiss Bank Vaults of NSPE!

Conference Hall

Nations requested a place to hold summits, and it was built. This 9-room conference hall can host any event your region wishes, or any event here on NS Public Embassies. Conference halls require no initial sign up, and are available for as long as they remain active in under 5 days.

Role Play (Coming Soon)

With the intent to house the largest role play sector on NationStates, an ambassadore requested that role play areas be constructed. Thus they will be. These areas are expected to be built by March 10th.

Regional Assistance Package (Coming Soon)

Small and new regions may request the Regional Assistance Package or (RAP). This will be a step-by-step guide provided to the regions founder or UN Delegate on how to make Constitutions, set up governments, recruit, manage foreign affairs (NSPE Style), and a host of other activity, to fit the needs of the region. This feat will also be done by grouping up other Ambassadors and regions who use NSPE together. NSPE Administrators will donate a fully-made IPBFree forum to the region which is in the RAP Program.

COPS Treaty (Coming Soon)

NSPE administrators will soon be required to sign the COPS Treaty, as well as legislation on how to manage NSPublic Embassies, and how not to infringe on the given rights of the Ambassadors within. This will be a big step in legitimizing NS Public Embassies as well as holding abusive ambassadors and administrators accountable for their actions.

Post Count Ranks

In an effort to encourage members to increase their post count and maintain the outstanding activity that they have so far, NSPE has introduced post count ranks based off Medieval feudalism. Post rankings are now:

-Serf 5
--Peasant 10
---Yeoman 20
----Squire 30
-----Reeve 40
------Knight 50

Regional ads go in another section of this forum.

Yes, I know you don't think of yourself as a region. This is still an advertisement.

THis is not regional advertising, as NTP already has an embassy. But, this is a discussion, which I was invited to conserning NS. This is something that is a 'change' from the old way, and it should be brought to everyones attention.

What is intersting, is many people who use NSPE, seem to think NS is growing, and coming out of this recession. Some regions are already using NSPE to talk about change, merge, consolidate and become active again. With two major merges in under a month, I think NSPE deserves to be discussed as not only a tool for making change on NS, but also a product of change.

Actually, that forum idea is a very good idea. I think the thread is right at home on ways to improve NationStates.

Actually, that forum idea is a very good idea

Thank you, if the origins of this were one of these 'improve NS' discussions all around the game, then yeah, this would rank up there with REAPERS and maybe the COPS treaty in its success.

I certainly am surprised as anyone to see it function, and work. Word of mouth is great with this, and people tend to come on their own now, without being invited, (though I will invite the last half of NS later this week). After going back to these discussions on one of the forums (dont remember which), they talked about if Jolt were ever to drop the game, what would happen. NSPE is certainly seeming like it is a viable alternative. I try my best not to force a new feature, just generally, if a member requests something, we do it, and it becomes opened up to all, so its the members who decide if it will fail or succeed; grow or remain small.

There are some noteworthy trends going on there though. Regions between 30 and 50 players are most active here. Next would be the regions between 15-30 nations. These are what I would call semi-active players, who check their embassy, but arent too active on other features. And to my surprise, the least active regions there are those large, old, and established ones (TNP, Gatesville, Laz, etc). There are exceptions to this. Now, its difficult to determine what this means, but it seems to me that older, larger regions are more comfortable using their current embassy system over this. Midsize regions are giving this an honest shot at an alternative. Unlike large regions which almost guarentees a healthy foreign affairs section on their own forum, medium sized regions dont get that, and seek this as an alternative. Small regions, I just dont know yet. Some are active, some are not. I think small regions focus very little on foreign affairs, so their embassies go unnoticed by mediums on the forum just because they are small, and they are not developed enough themselves to concern with with the world is doing, or who their in relations with.

Small Regions become big regions if you help them out a little, which is why I introduced the Regional Assistance Package. If regions are given the proper help by other embassy users, not only does that region grow, but it helps activity along in the embassies... both of which are good. Plus, in a years time, after some older regions continue to die, and new ones arise, you will have a host of new regions which use this form of foreign affairs. Who knows, in the userite world, this may become the norm in a year or so.

I posted this here because although it is not a product of members here wanting to change NS, but it is an experiment that seems to be growing and spreading at a rate which I, myself, did not even expect, and is something noteworthy to this topic. In a month it went from a blank forum, to the largest foreign affairs forum on NationStates... That fact, to me, is something that I think people should know about that is going on in the userite world. Its not everyday that 41 regions adopt a new style of foreign affairs!

As for NationStates change, and improving it somehow, and getting activity up. NSPE just may be a tool that people can use to make those changes.

Thanks for the invite here flemingovia.

Actually, that forum is turning into a very useful one-stop-shop to find news from, or contact, various regions.

Ragarding the NS Public Embassies - I believe such a venue should operate in strict neutrality. I was surprised to see Romenoch join the invader forces in Lazarus. He endorsed -Hellraiser- and he make several posts on the Lazarus rmb supporting the invasion.
