Dalimbar

Expect the Consul to be pro-Dalimbar.

I wouldn't.
Why not? They along well enough. That's well known. And the rest of them constitute a den of thieves anyway; I would only expect righteous moralizing out of them if they were standing before some cameras, so nay on them playing the cavalry charge.

Another note: Are there any crusader states left in the world? Whatever the ADN became is a backwater stuck in the mud now with the moral credibility of leper holding up a FREE HUGS sign, but they've at least got some people over there with UNs.. and those people know people... and so on. There are plenty of regions out there in the world not in the mainstream of things adopting a 'convenient neutrality' so-to-speak.

Yeah Grosse, just remove everything but the endorsements bit, it's all out-dated and this is so very urgent.

Lets have some more thoughts on the edited this:

The democratically elected government of The North Pacific finds the actions committed by Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) both regrettable, deplorable and alarming. We understand that our government is not perfect, however it does allow all citizens a great degree of representation and in our opinion is one of the best democracies in NationStates. We are disappointed that Dalimbar has broken his oath of the region, ignored the Constitution and most importantly violated the trust of this region's members.

Dalimbar did not attempt to explore any of the legitimate avenues of change and instead is attempting to overthrow the legitimate governent of The North Pacific. Although we sympathise that he may have had the region's best interests at heart, we are forced to remind him that he is but one voice in a region of over four thousand. Dalimbar does the entire region--every single nation--a disservice by removing their only avenue for formal representation. It must be remembered that the Constitution that Dalimbar declared void was the same one that elevated him to his trusted office in the first place.

Although Dalimbar has provided no assurances that his new regime will not be dictatorial, we are still willing to, in good faith, meet Dalimbar and pledge not to pursue criminal charges now or ever regarding this crisis and the overthrow of the Constitution if we are satisfied with the results. Nobody wants a civil war but we must stress that we will to see a return to the fundamental principles of democracy and tolerance that The North Pacific stands for.

Taijitu is the largest non-feeder, they could be crucial.

I read and posted in this thread before the SC thread.

Second, recall is a permanen action, the SC has always had temporary authority to act. Recall is a perogtive of the Regional Assembly, and is permanent. I is also useful if it demonstrates the members of the RA do not support Dalimbar's methods.

@Ator: If you can figure out how to give me the text and code to be copy-and-pasted in, I'll be glad to do it. I can copy the current content so you can figure out what to have the box contain. That's something Hersfold knew how o do, but it isn't something I'm proficient in (and I don't believe Flem is either.)
Just let me know, and I'll send you a PM with the relavant coding from the wrapper panel page.

I smoothened a bit of the grammar and made a few wording changes off of EM's first version.

revised from EM's:
The democratically elected government of The North Pacific finds the actions committed by Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) regrettable, deplorable, and alarming. We understand that our government is not perfect, however it does allow all citizens a great degree of representation. In our opinion, it is one of the most faithful implementations of democracy in NationStates. We are disappointed that Dalimbar has broken his oath of the region, ignored the Constitution, and, most importantly, violated the trust of this region's members.

Prior to his announcment, Dalimbar did not attempt to explore any of the legitimate avenues of change. Instead, he chose to attempt to overthrow the legitimate government of The North Pacific.

Although Dalimbar has provided no assurances that his new regime will not be dictatorial, we are still willing to, in good faith, meet Dalimbar and pledge not to pursue criminal charges now or ever regarding this crisis and the overthrow of the Constitution if satisfactory results are achieved. Nobody wants a civil war, but we will do everything in our power to bring a return to the fundamental principles of democracy and tolerance that The North Pacific stands for.

The ADN is now known as the DSA, Defender Security Alliance, and is pretty much useless. As far as solid defender regions, Equilism is pretty much the only unaffiliated defender region still quite active. There are still a few people kicking around in the ADN, however. The YoungWorld is an ADN region now, as are a few others.

Not only that, get this. Three or four YW people became ADN Global Mods and high-ranking intel people within a couple months of joining. Made me lol.

The original ADN vs. TYW conflict was retarded beyond all belief. Anyways.

Pet peeve. Can someone please fix the grammar, punctuation, and spelling in the News Box? Christ.

Please endorse Former English Colony as our new Delegate! Endorse Great Bights Mum, Unterwasserseestaat, Haor Chall, Emperor Matthuis, Ator People, and Kitabo in defense of The North Pacific. Unendorse the rogue Dalimbar/Chodean Kal!

1. All for EM's statement.

2 - UK - if we eschew our governmental procedure to condemn Dali, aren't we just agreeing (demonstrating) that the system is broken and needed replaced? Not to say it isn't or doesn't, but this is not the time to grant him any kind of moral victory.

3 - MO - right on, sistah. I often wish I had one of those 20-foot suction cup poles to fix poorly-worded signs.

That's some mighty fine alertin' there, Ator.

Edit: I'm sure Dal looks just darling with some blush on, dab of mascara, and a set of pumps, but I think what you're really trying to go for is 'rogue delegate" :P.

That...definitely caught my attention. Good job.

Also, the presence of "rouge" hurts my soul.

Oh, and I'm for whatever statement EM is referring to in his last post. Both his and my last revisions are almost the same in content.

Why not? They along well enough. That's well known. And the rest of them constitute a den of thieves anyway; I would only expect righteous moralizing out of them if they were standing before some cameras, so nay on them playing the cavalry charge.

*Looks hurt*

I happen to be one of the Consuls Executors, and I can say that I am well aware of the contents of the statement currently being drawn up in the Consular Atrium.

Apparently my coding had an error and caused that horrible combination of gray on red at the top. This should fix it if you have a chance:

Looking positive, keep you updated on that one.

But I will post the announcement, perhaps in the public cabinet office and Dalimbar's thread?

Just post it in the Cabinet office, we want to try and steer conversation out of Dali's thread now and into ours. I wouldn't post it in his thread.

I was also just speaking with Taijitu, sounds positive. :)

Good to hear about Tajitu, HC.

Let's pose a hypothetical. This is not to make an argument for anything or convince anyone into a conclusion but instead I want to do the opposite and get us thinking on a broader plane. Suppose Dalimbar is willing to negotiate. What will we want next? The region 'back', obviously, but what will constitute that? For the sake of this hypothetical let's say we do not expect Dalimbar to leave the delegate seat open, apologize, buy us all new puppies and disappear forever. Something will have to be traded on btoh sides. What would we be willing to bargain?

Suppose Dalimbar ejects a couple people tonight --if he ejects Terry Jack, will we see that as different than if he ejects GBM? At which point in ejections will everyone decide to abandon negotiations and seek a forceful solution?

Please post your thoughts.

Dalimbar from the Delegacy, promise to hold constitution convention to replace current constitution with some new (which really is needed- as I've been saying for a while) BUT therefore a replacement decided upon democratically by the community of the region.

My two cents, although I realise the question wasn't really posed to me:

I concur. I'd also like to see Grosse take a backseat in any discussion of the constitution ;)

Perhaps, for fun, we should declare Schwarz of TWP persona non grata if he keeps on?

Perhaps, for fun, we should declare Schwarz of TWP persona non grata if he keeps on?
They will take personal offense and become even colder. Schwarzchild is a newer TWPer who was not raised in the tradition of "TWP and TNP are friends, that's just the way it is". To be fair, neither side (particularly us) has put much effort into the friendship in the last few months. But I can talk to Schwarz and TAO. TAO is a good man, though he must be stubborn 'firm" because he is their chief, but Schwarzchild I will try to rap with.

I already suggested to TAO that Schwarz was a problem in my discussion with him earlier; hope I didn't overstep the mark :P

Dalimbar should eject Terry Jacks and move regions on the next update making sure that Former English Colony is the nation with the next highest endorsement count. We hold a convention on the constitution with some newer members/ideas and let him take part in the government with restrictions, e.g. no UN membership.

Sure we'd like that to happen, but what magical string of ponies will we need to offer to make him do that?

We don't rise to power and use two different delegates to eject them both.

We don't demonise him. We don't fuck his shit up.

Time for a bit of big stick love over this point.

Well to be honest it doesn't look like Dalimbar really intends to negotiate. So long as he's Delegate he can do what he wants but once he isn't, then he's got no position. So honestly I really can't think about what agreement we could come to.

I think his removal has become inevitable. He can't get rid of all our tarts but we can easily eject him. Maybe if we offer him a chance to enact his reforms peaceably with only a slap on the wrist (no UN in the region, no ministry position for the rest of the year)

We hold a Constitutional Convention, he recognizes the government. No further restrictions on Dali and he will have all rights of a TNP nation. No criminal charges will ever be pursued.

Whilst I would rather him step down from delegate, I doubt he'd do that.

I would not be happy to see him stay as Delegate because it's obvious that were he able to, he would quite happily set up his own regime. If we have the upper hand then I see no reason why we should weaken our own position to appease him.
