SWA for MoJ

Reelect Southwest Asia for Minister of Justice, so that he can finish the Fulhead Land trial. My only campaign promise is that this trial will be done by the end of my next term should I be elected.

I will now take any questions.

Don't swap horses in mid-stream eh?
Actually should you not be elected, you are still legally responsible to see the trial through but seeing as you and I are the only ones to survive being the MoJ for full terms; how has your opinion of the job changed since you took it?

How much do you hate people correcting you on the minor trivial facets of law that are squirreled away in the morass of language?

Also has the job changed your views on the legal system as a whole, if at all?

Where are you gonna take these questions?

How many will you take?

Is it legal to take questions against their will?

To Bermuda, 12, yes.

It's like being in war. Long periods of boredom followed by short bursts of fear.

In real life I participate in high school debate. Semantics = fun game for me that my opponents will lose at.

The legal system is too untested. Many of the laws we've made are for either contingencies that aren't likely to occur, or never will occur again, or never will occur in the first place.

Do you not think its a sad situation when a person running for a cabinet level position can only promise that a trial that should have finished months ago will be finshed within 3 months?
Do you have no other aims or aspirations with your office?
Your Office and the system it works within has been widely criticised and there is much talk of reform, do you not have an opinion on that or do you just not consider the voters worthy of knowing that?
Do you actually think you can follow your campaign promise through?

Firstly, I had no control over how the trial had preceded prior to my term, and your non-cooperation in testifying only made the situation worse.

Secondly, my office's only goal is to prosecute trials and to take up cases.

My office is merely a caretaker position. I don't make the laws, nor do I interpret them. I merely am the intermediary between the people and the law when they choose to question it or use it.

And yes.

I see. So you do not aim to even have input in how your office works, as that is more than likely to come up for debate during the next term? Seems to me that you show a disticnt lack of interest in running the Ministry.

My office is merely to carry out lawsuits and prosecute. There's not a lot of input as to how it works. There might be some changes as to how certain aspects of carrying out the lawsuits work, but those don't affect the overall purpose of my office.

Thank God.

EDIT:

Serious Question: What do you advocate in respect to these unnecessary laws?

Serious Question: What do you advocate in respect to these unnecessary laws?

They're not unnecessary per se, it's just that they're not likely to be used. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't have them around.

So you think that because your ministry only follows procedure, it shouldnt have a say in how its run? Wont that make for a system that is unworkable by the people that need to run it?

I'm not saying that I shouldn't have a say in how it's run, I'm saying that at this time and point, barring a few changes should there be another trial, there's no need for much reform.
