The topic was about appeasment of despots, namely Saddam in Iraq!! Therefore, my reference to pre-WWII was in reference to appeasement and its history of failure to alleviate the problems at hand!!

I was not referencing anything in particular, merely that had we trid appeasement as our only option prior to WWII things would have been much different in Europe and the world!!
