FRONTLINE: Duality Laws create controversy

Hello, and welcome to FRONTLINE, your alternate news source.

Today 'FRONTLINE' looks at the controversy surrounding these new duality laws. The nation Katinaire has made a deliberate (and loud protest) in order to demonstrate what the effect of these laws will be, in a move which has divided a region.

Legal arguements have ensued as nations come to logger heads with the concept of duality in TNP, but more importantly, to who it applies to.

Under the definition of treason, a nation is in violation of the law if " the player controlling a nation nominally located within The North Pacific ... wages war against The North Pacific, or allies themselves with a region waging war, declared or not, against The North Pacific"

Though some have suggested one has to be at least an RA member to have the law applied, the phrase "the player controlling a nation ... located in the north pacific" suggests any nation resident can be charged and subsequently ejected from the region, even a non-forum member.

It has also been suggested that applicability of the law lies also with the precedent of endo-tarters, who do not have to be forum members to be ejected from the region.

Though, concern comes from the word "player". No longer is the nation seperate from the player. THis proposed law is now starting to hold players accountable for actions.

I support Katinaire in his proposition for him or her to be tried when the law is passed. If they expect to pass a law, it should be applied to all regardless, though, who is the all?

Is this another example of TNP minority elite attempting to control the majority who just want to play the game.

It appears TNP is bringing about its own isolation as it begins to build walls around itself.

This has been a FRONTLINE report.

Hold on, Fulhead Land. It's an opinion piece, and he admits in small print he's not trying to be objective.

The situation is like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar, and then complaining that the cookies and the cookie jar shoud not have been there.

IMHO, the Frontline editorial expresses legitimate concerns, concerns that go beyond the Fulhead trial.

And just because it's not objective doesn't mean it's incorrect. Again, IMO.

Not really, I will raid regardless of this law, it’s what I do. If I come across the NPA in the process I will neither bow nor yield nor run before them simply because I fear treason. I would say its more like smoking a pack of cigs than getting caught with a fistful of cookies. Someone offers you a few, you smoke ‘em, you get hooked and than that same person scorns you for smoking the cigarettes he gave you because, god damn it, he really didn't mean for you to smoke them.

Well I am going to keep raiding because, like smoking cigs, I like it and to hell with anyone to tell me I shouldn’t or I can’t.

FINAL STRAW: ANOTHER OFFICIAL RESIGNS AMID COMPLAINTS

Today, well known TNP official, Heftogen, Resigned amid the controversy that the proposed laws have created. Making the number of officials leaving 2, along with many other nations. It appears there is no end to the storm, and FRONTLINE asks... who will leave next?

Making specific reference to the treason laws, and the proposed duality laws, Heft publicly told the government where to go.

What is this apparent exodus mean for the government? No-one can tell, and this reporter is surley not going to guess. The only thing I will say about this right now is the snow ball is only bound to get bigger...

This has been a FRONTLINE report

Erm Heft resigned two weeks ago. Not today. it is not news, it is olds.

I am also not sure who the other government official who has resigned over this is either. You do not name them, so perhaps you are at a loss too?

I admire you for your committment to journalism. I have always seen it as one of the best and most creative aspects of this game.

But I have to advise you, you still need to learn one of the fundamental skills: Check your facts before posting.

You have made a number of posts on behalf of Frontline on this forum, and each one has contained basic factual inaccuracies that detract from any argument you are trying to make. Withdrawing an inaccurate piece or apologising after the event earns you respect as a person; but if you want to earn respect as a journalist, try not making the mistakes in the first place.

I realise that it is an opinion piece, and you can excuse its lack of objectivity on those grounds. However, you also include in the small print the fact that you do not vouch for the authenticity of your sources. If you do not, why on earth should anyone but the most gullible read what you have to say?

COme Back Sir Paul.... PLEASE Come back Sir Paul.
