Official 15 Line Limit

The NPO Invades Surpreme Union

The Supreme Union have been some of the more annoying recruiters in NationStates. Many of our readers probably would recognize some of their recruitment adds. Traits of a Supreme Union recruitment ad is this, an ascii art eagle and often over the limit of 15 lines. While this limit is not official, feeders such as the The North Pacific and The New Pacific Order have used it a a guide line.
RECRUITMENT ADS: 15-LINE LIMIT...NO EXCEPTIONS
is clearly stated by The Pacific WFE. Let me stress they have used it as a guide line, now in The Pacific recruitment ads over 15 lines is now enforced with an invasion to go with it. Yesterday The United States of Advliq was put into power as delegate of Supreme Union by NPO forces, flying a New Pacific Order Flag proudly. The WFE entry of Supreme Union has a nice red addition to it, to compliment the invasion.

Disrespect to the Emperor and to the New Pacific Order is not tolerated and is met with force. Please respect our rules, including the 15 line ad limit. Vengeance is ours, so sayeth Glorious Admin.

NPO: We're just that good.

Why did the NPO go to these measures to stop a recruiter who went over the 15 line limit.
Here is what Moo-Cows had to say on the matter:
it is about a public statement on our RMB that they would not comply and TGs that essentially told us where we could stick our policy, and  we are protecting as much as we can the integrity of our RMB

When a native of Supreme Union asked which recruiter disrespected the NPO, this was the only response by Moo-Cows,
MCWG battle forces:
It was not only refusing to comply to our 15-line ad limit, but when it was pointed out in a polite ways, the response was not only rude but insulting to both the Emperor and the entire region.

Mind you it is not the entire region who is not complying with the limit it is one member. After seeing the repeat offenses by the same member, the NPO went to ACCEL, which Supreme Union is a member of, to resolve the matter. To the NPO's dismay ACCEL said in essence that they do not get involved with the regional affairs of their member regions.

As for the future of the Invasion The Great Commonwealth took as guess and said on the Supreme Union RMB,
The Great Commonwealth:
Ok, whoever did it apologize and the NPO will leave. Seriously you don't want to have the NPO invading, these guys know their stuff.

When asked Moo-Cows with Guns how long NPO forces will stay he Answered
Until we are satisfied that their recruiters will comply with our 15-line ad limit

When Asked Members of the TNP their thoughts on the Invasion this is what their opinions were:

Eras:
As a member of TNP I can't find such an invasion justifiable, but I do find it extremely amusing given how annoying they are as recruiters

JAL:
As a defender, I cannot say that invasion is ever justified.  I doubt the Supreme Union learned any sort of lesson; all the NPO really did was ignite the lot of them to come after the Pacific. This simply makes me damned proud to say that the North Pacific rejected the feeder summit.  The NPO is really quite hypocritical with their talk of regional sovereignty - this is simply yet another chapter in the NPO's history of invading.

As the situation Updates The Wire will try to keep you guys posted.

I disagree with it personally. And I thought Moo Cows was a defender. Now the Supreme Union could easily aoplogize, get the NPO to elave, throw up a PW and keep on doing what they have been doing. So, in essence how does this fix the problem?

Here is a gem from Moo, dating from October 21 of this year on the Imperial Equilism forums:

Moo Cows:
Defenders decry invasions, which is anti-soverieignty. Defenders support self-determination, whatever that form of government is. ADN is the organization that blurs the line between invading and defending; when I was Millitary Minister we never engaged in dubious defenses and you know that.

So then I guess he has admitted he is no longer a defender?

I am not trying to drag Moo Cow's name through the mud. He has been a good friend of mine. The NPO's actions will not solve the problem.

Well even it doesnt teach the SU a lesson - it will probably scare the other recruiters from doing it - although the whole thing could just be seen as advertisement for the SU, its got them in the NS news after all :P

I doubt it will scare folks. As long as you have an active founder or an active UN delegate around update time. I for one think intimidation tactics like this are uncalled for. Share the sandbox kiddies.

This is a dispute between two regions that has escalated because one region egregiously disrespected the other's policy. There are always consequences for actions; diplomatic efforts had proven unsuccessful. This was the next step.

In any event, the Secretariat-General of ACCEL has posted on SU's forum that an apology should be forthcoming as SU was clearly in the wrong here. This was after a member of SU posted on the RMB the intent to apologize. When that has happened on both RMB's we shall leave.

ACCEL lets their region get raided and wants the region that got raided to apologize? ACCEL has no backbone then, at least in this matter. However at least the dispute seems to be coming along.

No offense, but I really am not a fan of an eye for an eye view on conflict resolution. Just because someone does something wrong, how does that entitle you to the same? Don't we teach kids not to do these sort of things, and just to walk away?

10 minutes ago, on The Pacific's RMB

The Democratic Republic of Rensura:
Hello, I am reprensenting the Supreme Union. I would like to apolgize for one of our nations disrespect to your rule and emporer. I assure you, your rules will be followed.

Then again I also noticed:

The Republic of Free SU:
Free Tibet!

Which I thought was quite funny...

Cool, so if i want to get a region invaded, i join thier recruitment department and post some long ads and insult the NPO. Interesting, nice new tactic for invaders lol

I personally have decided to protest this, and not follow TP's 15 line advertisement rule. As I disagree with their bullying around other regions. They cannot invade The Exodus like they did with the Supreme Union.

Though I will respect the rules of The North Pacific!

Odd. While I don't exactly agree with your little "protest", I don't really understand how you are being put on trial without actually being a member of the region.

If a "crime" (no matter how loosely defined) occurs within the boundaries claimed by a government, the government has jurisdiction to persecute prosecute.

In this case, they also have the inability to punish, though, rendering the entire exercise a bit moot, no?

*Darkesia puts on NPO official voice thingy.

While the infidel has solicited the services of a lawyer in anticipation of his trial, there is no precedent for trial being held for non-citizens. I wouldn't count on a decision regarding the silliness until after the RL Thanksgiving holiday.

My personal position will be to advocate no special treatment of AA. He doesn't deserve special treatment, IMO. Of course, should the Emperor decide otherwise, we will gladly roast you and sell AA-on-a-stick at the Fatherland Inn and Tavern.

And please stop calling me AA. I no longer use that moniker, or control that nation. Joshua or Bhagavan work just fine. ^_^

And I am a bit saddened, possibly need to step my protest up a bit.

No one who actually believed they were a defender would ever join the NPO.

I am not sure I agree with that statement a hundred percent. I still respect Moo, and call him a friend.

I am trying to organize a protest against the NPO's extreme measures taken in handling recruiters who do not follow their ad line limit. I have no issue with the ad line limit itself, but how it is being enforced by the NPO. I am asking recruiters who come from regions with founder protection to join my protest. I am not forcing anyone to join me, and ultimately it is their choice not mine.

It really doesn't matter whether or not they are "defenders" according to some outdated holier-than-thou definition of "defender." And I still don't see them as having done anything wrong. They are not invading people who happen to accidentally place a 16 ad line on their RMB, they only went after ONE region, and only after that region had not only refused to comply with the 15-line-limit, but insulted them in the process. They didn't actually do anything to hurt the region, other than hang out for a bit until they got their apology. All they did was actually make the 15-line-limit mean something.

Dear Infidel Ad-Spammer,

The glorious Emperor Bovinus I, Delegate of The Pacific, has declared a 15 line limit on all recruitment ads within the region. This requirement is in addition to the requirements imposed by Admin and his Holy Moderators.

Please modify your spam to comply with the 15 line limit before your next posting. Failure to comply will result in dire consequences for your nation and possibly your region.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Admin be praised! Pacifica Prevails!

This being the standard reply from the NPO to reccruiters who fail to recognize the rule. And it is sent I believe usually after the first or second time you have posted an advert over 15 lines. Pleasse note the line that says failure to comply might result in dire consequences to your region. That is a clear threat and overly harsh response.

And completely within their rights to do, as well. It really doesn't matter whether or not you think it is overly harsh or not, you're not the one decided NPO policy.

I am calling off my protest. I wish to apologize for the pacific and their government (The NPO) for my brash, hot headed and foolish actions. I will gladly obey the rules from now on, and I am deeply sorry for how I acted and conducted myself.

Well I for one am overjoyed to hear that.

Just thought I would share that while we still have a few violations of the 15-line limit, for the most part it has been followed without incident. And our members can actually carry on conversations on our RMB and it just looks and feels better.
