Inc-red-ible fact: 66% of RSN's UN nations have endorsed our delegate, Diesel 10 - even though we don't demand or even request that they do so!
1. Our newly elected interim Vice President, Physics Part II, has enthusiastically started his job. He aims to tackle off-topic posting in government areas. Also, our High Justice (judge) was elected this week. The returning judge Yisroell was voted out of office in favor of Teredona. Teredona already has a case to deal with - as president Southern Acre has taken My Urinary Tract to court.
2. RSN's new
Alliance Act, which can be seen
HERE, establishes the procedure for gaining official alliances with RSN rather than just a consulate. Official alliances may only be revoked by the foreign region or with a 66% vote of the General Assembly.
3. RSN has started to plan a party for our regional one-year birthday, coming up on November 28th. Georgdem has started brainstorming ideas and wants to get foreign regions as involved as possible in the celebrations! We invite all of you to our forum (as we always do) and there will be activities that day that will be lots of fun. Early ideas include a recruiting drive - and for foreign regions we are going to have a "Region Elimination Game" where you will need to come and defend your region before it gets eliminated! If you have had successful celebrations in the past and have an idea that might be fun that day, please tell us! Thanks
Presidential Address
Recently, our Vice President, The Western Mountain, was dismissed and was replaced for inactivity. He has recently returned to the forum to apologise for his failure to execute his duties, citing huge ammounts of work from school and other real life issues that kept him from being active.
I think that there is a lesson to be learned from his absense and replacement. As RED SOX NATION move forward into a great and active future, we need to remember one thing about NationStates. It's only a game. Activity is stressed in NationStates as without it, jobs cannot be completed and duties cannot be fufilled; however, everyone must remember that real life comes first. If NationStates is taking a toll on your real life, you need to slow down.
I think Western Mountain set a solid example for people who are overloaded and overstressed by remembering that its only a game.

With the termination of relations with the Land of Kings and Emperors, we have had some controversy over whether we should befriend invader regions. While the members of LKE seem like fine people who are very nice to talk to, they are invaders, and that is what we need to keep in mind. When the RC made this decision, I was glad of it, as I am anti-invasion. It would be foolish of us to align ourselves with a region that has such a controversial policy. It is better for our region as a whole to cut off relations now. However, I must say that it is quite foolish that we had relations in the first place.
I mean, seriously, there is no excuse for our Foreign Affairs Minister, Winstonopia, to have not realized this. From what I have heard and seen, it is common knowledge that LKE are invaders. I respect and support Win’s policy in regards to invaders, but this is kind of ridiculous. It makes you wonder just how much research he did before making contact with LKE, and how many such foolish mistakes have been made by our government officials in the past few months, let alone in the past year.

This week has seen the start of preparation for Founders Day 2006. I myself have taken on the role of leading the preparations. Founders Day was proposed a while ago by myself and it had a very good response. I then created the legislation ‘The Patriotism Act’ and we now celebrate founder’s day on the 23rd of November. This year it will be a Tuesday and there will be plenty of events going ahead. I have listed a few of them here:
-Recruitment Drive in the week leading up to Founders day
-Ambassador Party and Regional Elimination Game
-Regional MSN conversation
-Proposed closing of the General Assembly and Polling Station
This year Founders Day is going to be massive. I am hoping this will be remembered as the greatest day in RSN’s history.

Inc-red-ible Fact: The highest posting RSN Diplomat is Eternal Moon Child from the Great Land of the Moon - she has 101 posts!
1. RSN is seriously considering our first true alliance. This week, an alliance will most likely be proposed between RSN and The Great Land of the Moon. The deciding factor has been the tremendous support and activity on our forum from TGLM. Once the bureaucratic mess gets sorted out, an alliance should be on the way.
2. The RSN army, the Red Guard, is in disarray. Leadership is nonexistant and the army has almost fallen apart. Nobody doubts that if a region is in need, RSN's UN nations will immediately answer the call and help. That said, mobilizing is going to be a difficult task. We have no First General (inactive...), few nations signed up, and no clear picture of what needs to be accomplished. Admin Alyss hopes to run for FG this coming term and get the army's discipline back where it needs to be.
3. Discussion was intense in the General Assembly recently as many citizens got fed up with the messy forum. With so few mods and so much posting, a day or two of absence by the Vice President and Alyss can create chaos. Citizens have been calling for more moderators in more places, meaning that confusion will go up (temporarily) but cleanliness should reign.

Earlier this week an issue was brought up in the case of "RSN vs. My Urinary Tract". In the case the high justice tride to pressure the prosecutor and the defense attorney to share evidence, but the prosecutor stated that HJ didn't have the authority to do so. The question is this: "Can people in positions of power have other powers not explicitly stated within the constitution or other laws?" In my opinion I think they should, provided nessecary checks are in place. Had the HJ had the implied power to force attorneys to share their evidence with each other this trial would have been moving faster than the snails pace it currently is.

This week the elections are upon us. There are calls for longer terms, which I can only support. Two months is just not long enough, I think three would be much better. At this rate we are going through six elections a year, whereas with three we would be limited to just four. Each election, from the start of nominations to the end of voting, lasts about fifteen days. That means 90 days a year are wasted on elections. All this time could be spent doing much more useful things that are actually necessary, such as recruiting! Six elections is far too much. As a personal note, I will hopefully be standing in the elections! And I have a role in mind... I will leave you to wonder!
