In a reaction to the decline of NS, and the effect that it has on userites, we have decided to interview Gatesville’s Enlistment Advocate, Arathi Basin, seeing as Gatesville’s achievements ha allowed them to be a role model upon the userites.

It’s my pleasure North Harmoneia, Thank you for considering me.
First of all, How long have you been playing NationStates, and have been in Gatesville?
I have been playing NationStates for about a year, and joined Gatesville in February of this year.
How has Gatesville lately been, then?
Gatesville has been doing great! Even with the decline in players overall for NationStates, we’re keeping our number’s of active players up at a good level and growing everyday!
How's the recruiting going?
Recruiting is also doing great, we have an amazing team of recruiters that are very dedicated to the job. They keep Gatesville strong!
Gatesville has been renowned for its massive army, if you don't mind me asking, considering the decline in NS activity, is it currently active and surviving the decline or just sitting around, bored, and affected by the decline?
Our Militia, now called the Gatesville Guard, is still very active, when we’re not deployed defending our allies, we quite often have maneuvers in Warzones to keep us sharp, and make sure that no one gets bored. The decline really hasn’t affected us too much, other than to give us a shortage of invader’s to defend against.
On behalf of the userites, how do you think this decline affected you guys as opposed to the feederites?
The recent decline of activity has affected us, just like many others. But there are plans in the works to counter this. The feederites, have also been affected, but obviously not on the same scale. The feeder’s have a leg up on us, since they get new player’s by default.
Do you think that the decline affected all of the regions? Or just the userites? How?
The decline has affected ALL regions, feeder, and user. There’s not as many new nations being created daily as there were even in the spring, this cuts the population of feeder’s down, and also cuts down the population of userite regions, as they depend on new nation birth as well as older nations.
Do you think that NS is dying or is it just the summer? If you think that NS is dying, then what do you think may have killed it?
NationStates always declines in the summer, young and old alike head out on vacations. Activity will start picking up again shortly, now that people are back to school and work. But there definitely has been a larger drop in activity, over the normal summer decline. This I believe is due largely in part to a few other web based games out there now, some that may give the allure of action.
NationStates is a very political game, I learned so much about politics and why governments do what they do, even when it seems so ridiculous. These other games don’t teach you that. NationStates teaches you while you play.
The other part about NationStates that new users may have trouble with is that the game really takes place in offsite forums, more than on the site. When I first started playing, I started with six other’s that I worked with, none of them play anymore because they never got active in a region. They just checked daily issues, nothing more. I know that they would still be playing if we had been introduced to a great region like Gatesville.
Do you have any plans to increase activity in Gatesville as per recruiting and such?
With the help of my recruiter’s, we came up with a brand new method for recruiting which will virtually guarantee a spike in numbers. Because of the nature of our strategies though; I am not permitted to disclose them to anyone other than my recruitment team, and the rest of Gatesville’s High Council. We are the largest player created region in NationStates because of this secrecy. Along with recruitment, the High Council also has other plans in the works for generating greater activity and keeping everyone interested! Things are really looking up, more now than ever before!
