I have just watched the last TOTp ever and was so dissappointed it was unbeleivable

what are your top tunes from the 60's 70's 80's90's and 00's

they cant be worse than the ones the bbc picked

I will post mine when i have stopped seething at the bbc!

The 60s and 70s have waaay to many fantastic tunes to pick just a few!

TotP has been on the bones of its arse for quite some time, mostly due to the fact that most new chart material is complete garbage.

What were the tunes TotP picked for the decades?

I guess they did their damnest to skip Frank Sinatra's time. I see how it is.

I'd pick stuff like Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, Fire or Break on Through and damned near anything from the Beatles for the sixties. From the seventies I would go with... I give up. Too hard. :pinch:

I pretty much gave up on TOtP when I realised I was no longer thirteen and the pop industry would never care what my opinion was again.....
That was around my twenty sixth birthday I think....

Anyway...If they'd bother to ask me...I would have said.....

60's.....Bob's 115th dream-Bob Dylan
......Anything live by Jimi Hendrix

70's.....Heard it through the Grapevine-The Slits
.....chirpy chirpy cheep cheep-Middle of the Road{<name of band not the style}

80's.....1969-cover version by the Sisters of Mercy
.....Civilisation street-Culture Shock

90's.....Cowgirl-Underworld
......The Boatman-The levellers

00's.....Music Monks-Seeed
.....Jamrock-Damien "junior Gong" Marley

Might have got my decades mixed up in the 80's and 90's but it was all a bit of a blur....

Gosh that was easier than I expected....obviously there are tons more....but these are the ones that get me going all aah and ooh....and "them was the days...eh...eh???"...

:D

First off, listen to Little Richard's "Keep on Knocking". Holy crap that man could rock. I think that might be 50s...not sure.

This is not really a list I considered with any great time...just the ones that came to me...
60's:
"Magic Carpet Ride"- Steppenwolf
"Crossroads"- Cream

70's:
"Tiny Dancer"- Elton John
"Iron Man"- Black Sabbath

80's:
"Streets have no name" (title?)- U2
"Crazy Train"- Ozzy Osbourne

90's:
"Black Hole Sun"- Navarro's old group...uh...too lazy to wiki...
"Closing Time"- Semisonic (a song from my childhood, a classic)
