Hersfold for SC

Hersfold

TNPer
Hello, all.

I'm planning on running for a seat on the Security Council this time around (it being about the only office I can run for). I don't have much of a campaign for this - being the security council, there's seven seats, so campaigns tend to be a bit lack-luster anyway.

As my qualifications, I believe that I am one of the most active people on this board, in terms of time spent online. I will certaintly be available for any emergency that should come up, be it endotarter, unendorsement campaigner, or (horrors) even a Lexiconian spammer.

Not much more to go on there, so if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Are you prepared to go against what the public wants in favor of following the Constitution?
Well, it's not as though the SC can do much anyway, but...

If it's for the good of the region, yes. I can't imagine the general public not wanting a endotarter dealt with as soon as possible, but if for some reason they were supporting him, and he was posing a real threat to our security, I would not hesitate to see that he got his just desserts. It's our job to make sure that the region stays safe within the boundaries of the Constitution.

I hope that's what you meant?

How about in the inverse? If popular opinion want something done unconstitutional, like the Delegate kicking someone before the SC/RA/whatever voted on it? That sort of thing?

I was talking about an unendorsement telegrammer. The general public wanted this person banned but the Security Council did not view him/her as an "emergency" and suggested the Delegate take it to the RA.

Then I'd do what I could to stop it. Or try to amend the situation however possible.

Hm, that sounds familiar...

If I thought there was enough reason to merit a ban, I'd support the Delegate in asking the PM to start the vote. Then the RA can decide. That's democracy.

PM bit included because the Delegate can't bring it to the RA - it has to be the Prime Minister or the Court. Thanks for the support!

I'm sorry, I just don't have any hard-hitting questions for the SC candidates.

So . . . . . .

Which Doctor was your favorite?

And the one from that Fox movie thing in 1996 doesn't count.

 :eyebrow: Is confused...? Am I supposed to choose from a show/movie something, or just any doctor?

Hersfold: How would you respond if I said you were a 21st Century Fox?
I would take it as a compliment, as the 21st logo is always lit up in spotlights, so I must be very important in your opinion. :D

I suspect that the honorable judge is refering to Doctor Who.

SC questions:

1) What is your opinion regarding the legality of unendorsement campaigns?

2) How long do you think the SC should take (maximum) to decide and take action? i.e. How much deliberating is too much deliberating?

3) What do you think is the greatest danger to regional and/or governmental stability right now?

Personal question:

What do you think is your greatest asset that you bring to TNP?

I suspect that the honorable judge is refering to Doctor Who.
In which case I stand no chance of regaining his vote, as I haven't even seen the show, much less heard of it. Sorry, Byard!

1) What is your opinion regarding the legality of unendorsement campaigns?

Generally, they're probably ok. We've got a good group of people that is very skilled at clearing the RMB in a few minutes. In a time of war, however, such as now, an Unendo campaign says to me that whoever is posting it is a clear enemy of the region, and needs to be stopped or removed. I do support Freedom of Speech and Protest, but during a war, our priorities have to change or we risk our security.

2) How long do you think the SC should take (maximum) to decide and take action? i.e. How much deliberating is too much deliberating?

3 days or 80% of the Delegate's endorsement count, whichever comes first. We're supposed to be able to react within a day, but I realize that's just not possible or even practical to assume all the time. 3 days, however, should be enough for someone who hasn't announced a prolonged vacation.

3) What do you think is the greatest danger to regional and/or governmental stability right now?

The lack of new nations willing to participate in the region. Very few of the candidates running right now are less than 6 months old, many of them older than a year. Fortunately, we have an astounding number of candidates this term. Eventually, though, we're going to start losing these old-timers - an inevitable truth - and if we don't pull in enough new people, our region's government will cease to function.

What do you think is your greatest asset that you bring to TNP?

Activity and enthusiasm. After playing this for two and a half years, I think I can safely say this is my life away from life, to misquote the cliche. I still log on whenever I can, I still participate in a whole lot of things, and I'm still having fun with it all. You guys are great people to do this with, and I hope you all stay on for a long time to come.

Don't really feel like making a new topic, so rather than hiding this one away in archival, I'll just start it up again.

More-or-less same campaign. Any questions?

Still, Sniffles does raise a decent point. I think we act quickly enough to threats, but there is always the possibility that we could work faster. If the SC were to be able to work out a system in which the Endospider script once daily rather than the sporadic scans we have now. Perhaps a daily rotation, where each member would be assigned a day of the week where they would be expected to run the script, or find someone to do it for them if they were unavailable.

I'm doing this for everyone, but instead of a Haiku, I wish a Cinquain on why I should vote for you.

Oh lordy. Five lines... hm.

Vote Hersfold for Security "C".
He's always around and ready.
There's not a tarter he won't see.
With your vote, he'll watch everybody.
He's the best for The North Pacific...y.

Sorry, not much of a poet. (I do note, however, that this is also a cinquain - it doesn't have to be in the 24682 format F+P used. Source)
